It's House. It's Rave. It's Techno. But ultimately it's UK dance music, which has a rich and deep seam. But KLF were unique and one of the originals. They were artists in the truest sense. they created a musical empire based on a background of punk subversion, an insider knowledge of the music industry and utter nonsense(ie taking the piss out of the music industry). The UK loved it. They were huge, and utterly fantastic. All Aboard! All Aboard!

Scooter is the prime example. On every album and, often, a hit song - they were constantly quoting or referencing KLF (and, of course, "borrowing" from them). These easter eggs are pretty fun to find actually, especially in retrospect.

Pop-House...and you are right about this jam and other KLF songs (3am Eternal & Justified and Ancient)...in the early 90s you'd hear them at gay after hours clubs.... if there was a lull or everyone tired because they already up and dancing all night. They played one of these KLF songs and everybody got up and danced...EVERYBODY!!.... eventually they worked their way into the regular rotation at the big dance clubs in town.... I know everybody that used to dance to these songs in 1990 and are hearing it now, they are taken back in time and are right back in the club dancing.... what's not to like about them and they still sound good now.... it was definitely a Moment In Time song

It's Scottish Art Techno. It was a very specialised scene back in the day which had eventually found its audience by 1992 - and then promptly dumped it. All of it, just like that! They were nutters whose lunacy had deep, deep roots that eventually grew into this insane final bloom.

Bill Drummond, the driving force behind KLF was a manager for the band Teardrop Explodes who released 2 brilliant albums. Try songs like Passionate Friend, Reward and Treason. That band was fronted by Julian Cope who also had a very interesting solo career. Songs like Sunspots, World Shut Your Mouth and Greatness & Perfection Of Love are worth checking out.

Thanks for giving us your take on this song. There's an interring backstory behind it. I'll just give you the cliff notes... + Wanda Dee, the woman singing "Come on boy, d'ya wanna ride?" sued them. They sampled her stuff more than once without consent. + They settled by giving her credit, royalties, and letting her be in the video. + Two years later she then goes on tour prominently mentioning KLF. (Even though it's questionable that she was ever in the group.) + KLF ask the record company to put out a cease and desist order. The company refused since it would only heighten sales. This may have been the record company's way of payback. You see that "two years later" part? Yeah, that's when they took their masters inducing the recordings they were making for their next album and destroyed them. That was 1992. It wasn't until 2021 that they officially reappeared with new music including remasters of their old stuff for streaming services.

OMG...I paid like $5 to see the KLF at a club/bar 'n grill? (maybe called Whiskey Dick's?) in Clearwater, FL probably around '92 bc I'd have been 23 & had only become aware of techno & the KLF from going to clubs like 9-1-1 🧱in Tampa, Trax 🌈 in Ybor City & 👻Simon's🪄❤️‍🔥 in Gainesville since turning 21 ('90-'91) Anyway, it turned out to be just Wanda Dee, sans KLF. She signed autographs & took pictures w/people that came to the show & had her cds & paraphernalia for sale, for cheap too, so it wasn't a total disappointment...just a $5 cover charge, the show was over _B4 DARK_ & people were being seated for dinner... in the same space! whilst the "concert" was wrapping up! 🙎 So definitely NOT a rave. And not even a flyer or contact # to pursue cult membership in future if desired. I did go away feeling fairly rejected, I must say...& in broad DAYLIGHT too. 🐄?🐄? Maybe, but not 4 U. U.

It's "Stadium House." The KLF were a 'troll' act taking the piss out of the music industry. Each track was originally released as an underground track (usually trance - check out 'what time is love' pure trance) which failed to chart then later they'd release the "pop" "Stadium House" mix which always hit the top ten.
