For the first time ever I'm glad I missed a launch date because I got to show off the Fender Tone Master Pro with the Firmware update that came with the launch. AND BOY IS IT GOOD! The convolution spring reverb is the chefs kiss on an already impressive unit.

Sounds great on my monitors. I watched Ola's video and he used a single mic on the cab some distance away to capture both woofer and tweeter. Like you said, if you want modern metal tones, check the channels that do that on the regular. You do high gain too, but in your own flavor. Your videos are always a breath of fresh air and humor dude, so even a metal guy to the core watches and enjoys. I recently picked up a UA Del-Verb and I need to check your back catalog to see if you found some drippy reverb sounds in the UA reverb unit. I never need a reverb sound like that but it's such a fun sound to play with

Just finished the whole video and man, you really said the reasons why I bought it. I have always gigged a 65' DRRI. I bought it because it does one thing really well - drippy cleans. I had this massive pedal board that served me well as a pit musician (Rock of Ages and Little Shop of Horrors). It served me well on country shows and a rock band I was in; however, it is heavy, loud, and a lot to carry around. One of my friends sold me an AxeFx3 and it has been an endless time sink trying to understanding modeling. As good as the AxeFx3 is for high gain, it just wasn't doing the Fender thing for me - which is what I love from an amplifier. Call me a fan boi, but I really love the Fender tone - especially when playing a Gibson guitars through them. This just looked cool and familiar, is by the company who makes my favorite amps, AND looks well designed. I've gotten a lot of laughs from my friends in the industry touring the FM9 / QuadCortex / helix, but I just really believe Fender can really have a home run here. If they can continue to make updates to an already kickass product, there's no reason why this can't solve 99% of our needs. The number one complain I've heard about this unit is the price, but I believe for what we're getting, it's reasonable. At Day 1, the biggest issues reported is price. Compare that to a 1st generation product like the QuadCortex, which still doesn't have plugin support, has a known ground issue, AND has a cheaply made power supply unit. I really think Fender stole the best of all designs and put them in an easy to use platform to promote creativity. I'd much rather get weird on some pedals than worry about the ins and outs of my amp (AxeFx3 let me change EVERY parameter of an amp - which is cool in a given context, but I just want to make sounds and fun songs). Bravo man! I'm building out my channel and am going to feature how I use this and where I use it once I get it and learn it. Thanks for the awesome review!

@@60CycleHumcastDude, you have me so hyped haha. My tonal philosophy is that if it doesn't sound good clean, it's going to be hard to sound good with gain. Do they have a lot of distortion pedals? I've used the Wampler Ratsbane going into an Exotic EP boost hitting channel 2. It's the best distortion I've heard . That Exotic Pedal with DRRI's is heavenly, I hope to replicate it. I heard there's a social aspect to the ecosystem. Is that setup with the latest firmware update or is that a future feature?

It sounds great in your hands, certainly better than in a few other clips I've watched, but then I just like the way you play. :D This certainly has some scope, but I kind of feel like their launch amp list is a little odd - I'm sure if they'd followed what I'd want, they'd be getting stick from other people - but for their calls to "do Fender amps better than anyone", their list is weird - There's a lot of "'65" in here but very little before, and not much after. There isn't a single brown panel amp on here, right? Nor is there a tweed twin, tweed champ, or a woodie amp - and there's no silver panel, but it does have the Bassbreaker and Blues Junior - just in case you really need to spend $1800 to simulate a $400 amp. Someone else in the comments said "I'll check back in 3 years", and I kind of think that's the best approach. I saw this in your use as well as elsewhere, the touchscreen isn't brilliantly reliable. The amp list is pretty miserable, unless you REALLY only care about 1965 Combos on the Fender front, and we all know that Fender's track record in supporting digital technology is pretty abysmal. The first two can be fixed in time by the third, so we're in the weird irony where a lot of people are going to wait to see how the longevity turns out, but waiting to see how the longevity will turn out will kill the product. Fender could fend that off by saying upfront "We will support this for x years", but unless I've missed it they haven't said such. Which for comparable money to a Kemper, is a bit rough.

Curious about running this into a Roland JC-40 or maybe even a 120 for output. No really need to I guess other than that was the direction I was heading until I found out about the TMP yesterday. I don’t have any gear other than guitars on order. Instead of using the Fender cab, I’d rather run it into the JC-40 as they’re close to the same price. That way I’d still have a clean amp to play by itself and maybe later buy the TMP. Any reason why it wouldn’t work other than duplication and other ways to get sound out from the TMP? I see that the TMP case the JC amp as part of the list but haven’t seen a video yet where chorus is used. Thanks.

If you consider everything you're getting at that price, it is worth it. But for most of us with tons of pedals, an amp or two, and a few guitars. Probably not for us.

Why not? I don’t mean to sound standoffish but genuinely curious. Just a few pieces of quality gear easily hits and surpasses 1700 bucks, and this has well, nearly every piece of good gear all in one neat package

How does the ToneMaster match up against Helix LT for sound and features. I can still return mine for a ToneMaster Pro. I might miss the tap and adjust for settings in Helix it is much faster than using a touchscreen but that seems to be the only negative. Sounds a lot better than helix effects I have to admit it.

At 49:00 - Analog fuzz does sound more alive, but it's also louder, so not sure how much it's volume perception.

I think the loudness comes from the eq being more wide open, digital fuzz always sounds more narrow to me. The levels were very similar as far as my audio meter said while editing.

Not sure if I have posted this before (apologies if I have), but the Mission SP1-TMP (co branded and custom paint) unlocks things like volume control, wah and a lot of cool creativity/control. Fender also made it reeeeally easy to set up the expression and the toe switch. Control up to 5 parameters at once and use the toe switch to turn off one or all effects. Be great to see a video covering this :-)

I dunno. I’m going close, but no cigar. If you’re going for a trad surf sound, do a tank and a big old Fender tube amp. This might have application for bands doing a contemporary take on surf. Part of the appeal is having that back line of vintage piggybacks.

I agree in a purist sense as a surf guitarist/fan but it sounds just close enough that the gremmies in the audience (as long as they aren’t also surf purists) probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Sure the purists will drop $$$$$ on vintage dual showmen but we should celebrate the fact that fender and other brands are making modern options available. The surf reverb sound is becoming more and more accessible to a wide variety of players and I think that’s a good thing.
