About The Killers:
The Killers are a Las Vegas-based four-piece who formed in 2003, featuring the talents of singer/keyboardist Brandon Flowers, drummer Ronnie Vanucci, guitarist Dave Keuning and bassist Mark Stoermer. The band has received countless accolades for their artistic achievement, including multiple Grammy nominations, American Music Award nominations, MTV Video Music Awards, NME Awards and more.Their first album, Hot Fuss, was released in 2004 to worldwide acclaim. The album contained the singles “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me,” in addition to the anthemic song “All These Things That I’ve Done,” which has since been referenced by the likes of U2 and Coldplay. The band toured for two years straight behind Hot Fuss, playing more than four-hundred shows, and eventually returned to Vegas to begin to work on the follow-up album with legendary producers Alan Moulder and Flood. The result, a love letter of sorts to their hometown entitled Sam’s Town, was released in 2006 and spent forty-two weeks on the Billboard Top 200.A b-sides collection entitled Sawdust was released in 2007, followed by their third studio album, Day & Age, which was released to widespread critical praise in 2008, anchored by massive single “Human.”The Killers released Battle Bornin September 2012, which saw them expanding their world tour into countries they’ve never visited before, and finally were honored to perform at the world-renowned Wembley Arena, one of the most monumental and significant shows of their career. After a decade of making music, in November 2013, The Killers released a “Best Of” collection, Direct Hits, which featured two incredible new songs alongside classics from the band’s revered catalogue. The band, who have sold over twenty-five million albums worldwide, and headlined all of the world’s top festivals (Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury), released their newest studio album, Wonderful Wonderful, in September 2017, where it landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart the week of its release, as well a stopping the charts in the U.K. and Australia. The album is the band’s fifth consecutive number one in the U.K., and Brandon Flowers’ seventh U.K. number one overall.

Battle Born is probably the best album the Killers have done that shows a wide range for music that they have done from the previous albums but this one is very underrated by everyone and even they said they felt it was not that great, but songs like this prove otherwise.

I just revisited Battle Born, 2 years after I bought the album and until this last weeks I just listened this song carefully and I have to say. This us the best and most underrated song in the album. I even remember that, the last time they came to Mexico, this was the last song they played at Foro Sol and I was disappointed that it wasn't "Flesh and Bone". Now, I can say that this one of the most epic songs I've ever listened.

But i believe it is about not giving up, no matter how much you fall or feel things are going to hell. You lost faith in the human spirit You walk around like a ghost Your star-spangled heart Took a train for the coast When you shine you're a hilltop mansion So how'd you lose the light? Was it blown by the wind, In the still of the night? We're up against the wall Up against the wall There's something dying on the street When they knock you down You're gonna get back on your feet (No you can't stop now) I always saw you as a kind of keeper A mother to a child But your boys have grown soft And your girls have gone wild From the Blue Ridge to the Black Hills To the redwood sky The season may pass But the dream doesn't die Now don't you drop the ball Up against the wall There's something dying on the street When they knock you down You're gonna get back on your feet (No you can't stop now) When they break your heart When they cause your soul to mourn Remember what I said Boy you was battle born (No, you can't stop now) You was battle born When the night falls on the land Are you haunted by the sound? It's gonna take more than a hand To turn this thing around Won't you lean it on me? Rescue, set me free Up against the wall (Up against the wall) There's something dying on the street When they knock you down (Up against the wall) You're gonna get back on your feet Cause you can't stop now (Cause you can't stop now) Did they break your heart? (Did they break your heart?) And did they cause your soul to mourn Remember what I said Boy you was battle born Cause you can't stop now (Cause you can't stop now) Come on show your face Come on give us one more spark Sing a song of fire Lest we fall into the dark And you can't stop now (No, you can't stop now) You never live, You never learn You never shine If you never burn The rising tide The undertow The famine and The overflow You turn away Welcome home

Honestly, I think the mood of Brandon Flower's writing is to some extent influenced by his origins (like Springsteen, incidentally) in or near a major gambling town. The sweeping romanticism of chance and fortune lend a grandiose tone to the songs, while the combination of precise, almost harsh realism and the desperate, naïve optimism of luck tinge every song with pathos, longing, hope, and regret.

Exactly. I think the album was very real to Brandon because it carries so much of who he is and where he's from. And that's what makes art relatable, you know? It doesn't necessarily have to be about your own life or experiences, but it isn't real to the author, it won't come out as real to the listener. And yes, the honest lyrics. I really think Brandon is one of the best songwriters of our era.

This is such a great song, a masterpiece! In my opinion this is my favorite song from Battleborn haha, and this album is truly the one that convinced me that The Killers have this beautiful way (talking especifically about Battleborn) of mixing nostalgic and melancholic sort of emotions into the songs. I just wish that more people appreciated this album, it is truly beautiful!

The vocal harmonies of this song remind me all that epic sound of Queen. You know that sound around you . Every time you heard a Queen song all that specific, unique and perfectly homogeneous combination of the voices that Freddie Mercury used to create are still present in a few artist (The Killers, Muse). Wonderful !!!

You are HONESTLY ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, no skipping songs on this one, to think that my love for the Killers started back in 2009 with Human, and now, wild horses would not drive me away, I love all of their albums( and Brandon' solo projects) but Battle Born well and truly has the edge, love it, love them, Ted and Jake included.😘
