Brother, it will be very interesting to see how Kikunosuke V will do in the role of Masaoka, since he is one of the few Kaneru Yakusha to play this role in recent times. Speaking of Kikunosuke V, there's a question that's been bothering me for a while: we know that Onoe Kikugorō VII was a Kaneru Yakusha before focusing only on male roles and becoming a full-fledged Tachiyaku. My question is this: what are the chances of Kikunosuke V following the same path as his father and becoming a full Tachiyaku (especially when he takes on the name Onoe Kikugorō VIII in the future)?

Well, Kikugorō VII continued playing major onnagata roles well into his 60s. I'm not sure if his health had something to do with him leaning into the tachiyaku repertoire, but it is impossible to make predictions about Kikunosuke. Kikugorō VI also tended to focus on male roles towards the end of his career, but Kikugorō V played onnagata until his last years, so it will be up to Kikunosuke to decide.
