For years, I told myself that I didn't need to learn music theory for playing guitar, then I started to realise that perhaps it might not be a bad idea to learn as it would give me a deeper understanding and inspire me to play better ... but I'm a terrible procastinator. After watching many of Rick's videos and feeling like an idiot for not understanding most of what he's saying when he talks music theory, I have decided to get my finger out and learn the dam stuff. So, many thanks Rick. Hopefully in a month or two I will be able to go back and watch your more 'technical' videos and have a clue as to what you're actualy talking about. Cheers for the inspiration.

It’s the same for me. I never told myself that but I wasn’t ‘aware of the existence’ of theory. I didn’t have access to it but videos really give a lot of information.

Hi Rick I have been watching your show on youtube for over a year now. I discovered your channel by accident and I am glad I did! I am so impressed with your ability and aptitudes as a mult-instrumentalist. I also love how you embrace the genius of the Beatles. I do have a special request that I hope you will consider at some point. I am a huge fan of Bill Nelson and Be Bop Deluxe. How would it be if you feature one song showcasing the creative genius and virtuosity of Bill Nelson? Thanks very much John O'Dacre

HI !! Warm salutations from Serbia! I've discovered your channel just recently and i have to say that i've found all the videos more than great. Terrific stuff, indeed. 3 days i've spent just watching em all and forcing my bandmates to do as well, as we are in the middle of recording of our new album. Really would like to see you continue with " what makes this song great" series and if you don't mind , ask you a question. Are you overlooking Guns n' Roses intentionally ( for some reason) or it's just "De gustibus non est disputandum" case? Again, great work, very useful for us who are into recording ,playing and producing rock music!! With best regards, keep on rockin' !!!

Hi Rick, I get a little confused sometimes on how people talk about modes. You start at one which is the Major scale, modes are just starting at the different intervals. Like the 5th note of the Major C scale is a G note. Treat the G as the #1 note of the C Major scale. Also the 6th note of C Major A is the natural minor of C major, Just treat the A as the #1 note. This is how I learned all the modes, this is correct right???? I think it is important to Say the name of the parent scale when teaching a piece of music. Anyway, I really enjoy your video's and ordered your Beato Book. Rock On Brother.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great information. Breaking up mix this end made it difficult to listen to. I really hope that gets sorted for the next clip. You are such a skilled engineer it is a shame not to hear your tone and mix without the breaking up. It's on vocals and guitar. I checked a few different cans and speakers and other clips. It is a problem your end or youtube upload volume problem. I hope you have the chance (and desire) to play your clip back so you can hear the clipping problem and tell me how you would describe what happened in more precise engineering language. Some lovely licks in there too.

Rick, you are pretty interesting, but you must know by now that most people no longer read or listen to albums. Also, free mugs are plentiful in the world ! Your points concerning the music we all grew up with, have all been on point, how ever you must be aware that we who are surfs in the modern caste system- find complexities difficult to focus on unless they affect our overall survival. Lastly, the days of human to human instruction are coming to an end since most of the last generation has begun to absorb rather than learn, via electronic osmosis !
