My grandpa did his national service in Palestine during WW2 and was a Bren gunner; when I told him I’d joined the army reserves his Alzheimer’s was pretty profound, and would get confused and forgetful a whole lot, however he still went through with me all the NSPs, disassembly and cleaning procedures for his Bren from 60 years prior.

@@lokei1326 it’s a strange organ for sure, we found that he’d stacked the post (mail) in the dishwasher from smallest-to largest (as he did with plates) but he could tell you exactly the dates he was where in the Middle East, the types of vehicles he’d work on, promotion dates, sergeants major names etc
