The Judy Garland Show, 1964, Show #19, plus Outtake

Ойын-сауық

The Judy Garland Show ran for one series of 26 shows on US TV CBS from 29 September 1963 until 29 March 1964. The format was changed several times, and 3 different producers were hired. .
This video is of Show #19, plus an outtake..
Show #19, taped 17 January 1964 (aired 2 Feb), with guests Louis Jourdan, The Kirby Stone Four, Ken Murray
Show #19 is followed by an unseen outtake. An amplifier blows and cuts sound to the stage.
Show #19 is an all music show, apart from the Ken Murray home movies segmant. But it's not one of the 'Judy In Concert' specials - they started the following week with Show #20 through to #26 (the last 7 shows).

At 16:55, Judy’s singing a song from that “Gay Purree” animated movie, I recorded it on my tape recorder when it was on TV later on ; I thought she sang it very well … 😊

In these days CBS doubled down on black-and-white when NBC was pushing color. CBS found a way to make black-and-white look halfway awesome.

There's a old world Elegance to it I feel 🖤 I can imagine the colors they are wearing and that's part of the fun in my opinion. Imaging how beautiful it all looked ✨💛

Judy, your program is certainly NOT boring or depressing, later in the 1960s I used to watch the King Family TV program; they would just sit or stand there, singing different songs and NOT moving, not going anywhere, no movement like statues all the time … How it stayed on the air I’ll never know … 😐😐😐

Amazing that video tape out takes survive along with unaired material. The Judy Garland show is from back in the day when video tape was erased and reused by TV networks as a cost saving measure.

She was singing quietly in order to blend in with her guests, as she was prone to do. Generous! No way they could have re-recorded, or pre-recorded her vocal back then. She was a brilliant and intuitive artist!

@@TangSongs What on earth makes you think there wasn't pre-recording and lip-synching in 1963 an 1964? Of course this was; it's pretty obvious.

I would bet Judy’s kids HATE that “Bonanza” TV program, they’re NEVER watch it. I didn’t watch Judy’s program in the 1960s, didn’t know it was on then; Grandpa ( he died in 1983, I never liked him) always watched that Bonanza TV program when it was new, when we visited I would leave the room and stay in the kitchen until it was over - very dull and depressing program, I would’ve watched Judy if I knew, if we stayed home then …

It is great to hear Judy sing the real San Francisco song instead of the crap Tony Bennett version. Too bad he didn’t leave his voice there too.
