Thank you so much for this wonderful discussion and showcasing. I've been a fan since the age of four - 1966. Judy is that rare kind of star one can rediscover time and again throughout their life, and she's just as fresh, invigorating, and spellbinding as the first time you fell in love with her. She has to be the greatest entertainer of the 20th century. I recently began binge-watching her TV show, and I cannot believe it was cancelled. She looks amazing, she's in great voice, the guest list is beyond impressive, the sets are creative, and I love the physical freedom she has not only with guests, but also during the closing Born in a Trunk sequences. To Kelly's point, she still reaches new audiences. I was a 5th grade teacher for 25 years and used clips from Judy's films to illustrate specific vocabulary and concepts, and the students were always completely engaged. By the time they were assigned biographic essays, never a year went by that several chose Judy Garland as their subject.

I loved this whole discussion and agreed with much of what everyone said. Thank you for this. The special with Robert Goulet Phil Silvers is my favorite of these specials and that version of By Myself is my favorite version and one of my all time favorite of Judy's performances. It's just a stunning performance. I do love that version of Rockabye on the Judy, Frank and Dean special. Thanks for putting them all together as a group. You dona wonderful job and as a lover of Judy Garland since the first time I remember seeing The Wizard of OZ in 1958 or 59, i appreciate the passion you all feel for what she gave to the world. I'm becoming a big fan of The Garland Gab!

I knew a Judy fan who was old enough to see these shows at the time and he said that in the culture Judy’s appearance on anything was a huge deal. We forget that she was incredibly popular during this period. great job as always folks! love your work.

I’ve never been tired of Judy and listening to people like you talking about her. Interesting, especially Kelly. Well said! Judy and a child are always so good together, like Judy and Mitsuko, Margaret O’Brien, Bruce Ritchey, Gregory Phillips and her own children. :) Love Judy on tv. Fabulous.

Another enjoyable and informative panel session! I'm afraid I do have a few problems with the 1963 and 1956 specials, as well as with the Jack Paar show. In the former, I found her not nearly as warm and welcoming as she was in the 1955 or 1962, and the way she and Goulet were carrying on with one another made me feel both excluded as well as embarrassed. If it had only been for a few minutes, as she had done with Sinatra and Martin in 1962, that would have been fine. I had the same issue with Judy and Goulet on the Paar show, though I loved her raconteuring. As to the 1955 and 1962 specials, I hold them in the highest regard. Thanks so much.

I have some private and privileged information about the Judy Garland special of 1963 with Robert goulet that you may not have ever heard. When she was singing 'through the years" to Robert Goulet, he grabbed her hands and would not let go. You can see him smiling mischievously at her, keeping her from using her hands to show, feel, express while acting out the song. You can the surprise and frustrated look on her face. He finally let go at the ending of the song not to ruin her final dramatic close. She was so very professional not to ruin her performance so no one can see what is going on. Note that when she is holding the last note she is smiling and saying something in his left ear. She was furious but no one else knew what she was saying. After the number was finished, Robert Goulet ran out into the audience grinning and playing " Mr innocent" avoiding her wrath. 😇 She however screamed at him and said "Goulet if you ever do that again, you're dead meat"! This is so very funny and every time I watch this I can't help but smile.🤗
