The Journey Back to My True Identity (Part 2) - Walt Heyer & Kathy Grace Duncan

Walt Heyer and Kathy Grace Duncan share their transgender journeys - Walt lived as a woman for 8 years, Kathy Grace lived as a man for 11 years.
Walt describes how his sexual identity confusion began very early due to a grandmother who made him a purple evening dress plus sexual abuse from a family member. Walt began identifying as a woman as a way to be safe and affirmed.
Kathy Grace observed how her father abused her mother, and decided she’d rather be a man; worthy and strong, rather than weak like her mother. She started living a double-identity life before Kindergarten.
Walt and Kathy Grace describe how God began to intervene in their lives, and how pastors and churches offered them help to transition back to their biological sex. Both Walt and Kathy Grace share powerful transformational stories about how God healed them. They also discuss how normalizing and affirming people who experience gender confusion ignores the underlying wounds and disorders they are experiencing.

Here's a question: I wonder what Bruce Jenner, a/k/a "Kylie," thinks of boys competing in sports as girls? He was the top male athlete in the world, winning the decathlon at the Olympics (68? 72? 76? I don't remember). His musculature, bone density, strength and height were all advantages that he obviously worked hard to develop and build up to make himself the fastest, strongest male athlete in the world. What if, prior to that point in his life, he had decided he had to "live his truth," and live and compete as a girl? Does he think that would have been a fair competition? Does he think the testosterone in his body that makes his bones denser, his muscles bigger and stronger, and partly makes him taller than the other competitors would have been affected by his self-identification?

@@patriciaseyfferle1427 Bruce Jenner (aka Caitlin) was featured in many magazines, but I remember one where he was saying that he "missed" Bruce, and was expressing some regret for changing. I think perhaps the trouble was that he was too much of a public figure, and had made the whole transition very public, so he felt he was kinda stuck with it. That's just my perception. Only Bruce knows for sure. (I know he identifies as "Caitlin" now, but he's really still Bruce to me.)

Thank you for this very respectful way you tackle this topic! "My job is to love you. It's his job to change you." And the testemony of Kathy Grace confirms exactly that. If only we Christians could really embrace this approach not only in this area, but in all matter of sin. A "you are sinners" sign will (seldom) bring people to Jesus but loving them unconditionally and bringing them to the loving and changing arms of Christ, that's what really changing hearts and people!

THIS!! Yes, so true about weight loss surgery. It's the same as Walt expressed in part 1 about how his grandmother's affirmation of his wearing the purple dress translated to him that he was unacceptable as a boy. I have stage 3 lipedema -- an hormone-driven adipose tissue disorder which affects 11% of the female population, with no known cure, and is resistant to diet and exercise -- and every time someone suggests I lose weight it fills me with deep shame and guilt, that I am so unacceptable as I am.

Kathy Grace and Walt testimony was so powerful...They accepted Jesus Christ as there Lord and Savior....and knew the true love of Jesus Christ....It takes courage to change and to learn the truth....When Walt talked about a place of brokenness..I couldn't stop crying...I am a Christian married women and when he explained brokenness and to seek truth...Because the truth will set you free....Only Jesus can heal that broken place inside of me....Thank you......for sharing and living in your truth....

I pray for your amazing ministry! I had watched another episode with walt's story and I love the honesty and Gods grace that shines. I wish for more men to raise up like Walt and want to get to the heart of why..what makes you think ..what happened...our home ended. For Kathy story, it is so true, you never know how much of an impact the effects of domestic violence will have on your home, verbal, physical or emotional abuse. Thank you for sharing yourselves.
