    I purchased the 300 Plus and have read that it can be used as a UPS. 2 years ago Jackery support said their units could not be used as a UPS because they have a built-in shut off feature that if less than 10W of power is drawn for a duration of 12 hours, the unit will turn off automatically. Has something changed with the 300 Plus? If so, how would I set it up to use as a UPS.

    I like the fact they have gone to lithium iron phosphate with the 300 plus, but USB-C sockets are notoriously fragile. It is going to be too fragile, especially with the barrel connector adapter connected. You also need to buy a car charger to charge it from 12v.

    Agreed 100%. That adapter is a major weak point and likely to get lost. I wish they kept the 8mm plug or added an Anderson or XT60 plug.

    @@LetsTalkTechToday Having said that I ended up ordering one. Its for a very specific project. I am going to get some kind of short PDC USB-C extension to take the strain off the socket. They were on special offer with the solar panel effectively free. Its the new battery chemistry that's the selling point as I need to float charge it from the panel.

    Yes, it should but your gaming time wouldn't be too long with only a 290Ah battery that is found in either unit. I'm guessing you would have an hour, maybe less depending on how energy efficient of a 23" TV you would be using. You would be much better off looking at a product like the Jackery Explorer 500, Explorer 1000 or an EcoFlow Delta Mini. Best price between them all would be the EcoFlow Delta Mini with a roughly 900Ah battery that would give you more than 3 hours of play time and can be found regularly for about $500 on sale.

    How did you calculate that the 300 plus will last 10 years if charged 3x daily? 3 x 365 x 10 = 10950, which greatly exceeds the stated expected lifespan of 3000 full charge cycles.

    Can the solar panel that comes with the Jackery Solar Generator 300 Plus be used with the Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer?

  • @LetsTalkTechToday

    @LetsTalkTechToday

    3 ай бұрын

    The Solar Generator 300 Plus has two options. You can purchase either the 40w panel or a 100w panel and they will both work with any of the portable power stations using the DC8020 barrel plug if available (some of the newer model no longer include them) or using the adapter to go from a DC8020 to USB-C input. Again, as long as the portable power station supports a PD USB-C input then that can be used as well (not all the older units support a bi-directional USB-C input, like the V1 of the Explorer 300).

    Can I use a powerstrip with this? And plug in my TV and wifi router? So I can watch my KZread TV? Or is that too much wattage?

  • @LetsTalkTechToday

    @LetsTalkTechToday

    4 ай бұрын

    Yes. You just have to make sure the wattage demand isn’t greater than what the continuous 500 watts the AC outlet can provide. There is protection built into the unit so that it will just turn off the AC outlet if continuous wattage exceeds 300 watts for longer than the 500 watt startup wattage allows. Also keep in mind that the more wattage your TV demands will have a direct relation on the run time, so best to use a TV that uses the least wattage when possible.

    I got the V2. Should I leave it charged to 80% like a cell phone or can it be charged to 100% when in storage? I will only use it once or twice a year in case of a power outage.

  • @LetsTalkTechToday

    @LetsTalkTechToday

    The most important thing to be aware of when storing the device is to check it every three months to verify it has not dropped below 15%-20% capacity. My recommendation is to set a reminder to check the device every three months to verify it is in proper working condition. The unit will naturally self-discharge over time even turned off with no cables attached. If you will only be using it for emergency purposes, there should be no concerns storing it between 80% and 100%.

    Your review came across to me as Factual and well stated 👏. A question please: Why is the new 300 Plus version less expensive than the 300 V2 model? What do you attribute the price differences to? Does Jackery somehow perceive the 300 V2 version as somehow worth more (or better than) their latest greatest 300 Plus? Durability of the external Casing and Internal Workmanship? Asking because I found the lower pricing factor of the 300 Plus most interesting and potentially important. Any thoughts about why? Thanking you, in advance, for you input and insights.

    That you for the compliment. We’re not sure where you are looking but, the V2 is currently $50 less on Amazon than the 300 Plus. From our experience with both devices, we find the V2 much easier to use when it comes to recharging with solar panels because it doesn’t require the cumbersome use of USB-C adapters. The main advantage of the 300 Plus is the use of a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery which supports more recharging cycles because it begins to lose some of its overall capacity. We encourage you to check out our latest video that we compare the V2 and the 300 Plus with the EcoFlow River 2 which is available at a fantastic price point right now on Amazon. kzread.info/dash/bejne/i62WlpubZ5eeYLA.html. If you use your Explorer 300 on a regular basis you may find the 300 Plus to be more useful in certain circumstances. The features we like best are the ability to view the battery status via the mobile app. Keep in mind this feature only works if the Jackery is turned on, there is no remote feature to turn it on/off remotely. We really like the fact we can recharge the unit quickly using the AC plug now at 200 watts in under 2 hours. Our Jackery 300 is our go to for using USB-C powered devices when we film videos. I know we will be using it a lot more now than our older 300 V1 which we replaced it with. If you can find it for under $230 we feel it is a great deal.

    The 300 Plus can be purchased with or without solar panels. The only two panels they bundle them with is the 40W or 100W SolarSaga panels. I like the small compact size of the 40W, which would be nice for hiking/camping. The 300 Plus with 40W panel can be purchased for $299 on Amazon right now. That makes the panel about $70 of the cost which is good for a portable panel.

I’ve actually seen them as low as $129 on Amazon on a flash sale and kicking myself for not picking one up for the price. I think Jackery made a big mistake eliminating the 8mm plug. I’d love to see an XT60 plug for solar input.
