The Iron Rain World Is Unlike Anything You've Seen Before

There is an exoplanet, discovered by ESO's VLT, where it rains iron. But WASP-67b is 690 light years away, how could we possibly know that?

If the Iron was being stripped from the planet the tell tale clue would be an enhanced Iron signature within the star itself compared to its initial metallicity which we unfortunately can't . As we know only the difference of the spectrum of the star versus the star when the planet transits any Iron lost to the star would become part of the background spectrum which means that loss of iron to the star wouldn't be detectable so the difference should be precipitation. However the planet is almost certainly losing mass including Iron. (Though lighter elements like hydrogen will be more likely to be stripped than heavier elements it is a statistical process).

Of course that is too hot for us and we prefer it to be cooled to the point that it is solid rock. Then I thought of our oceans of water. How many life forms may think that is as hot to them as lava is to us. Life may be more adaptive and/or specific to its environment than we think.

If you don't think that we had spaceships to go take the stuff out and we travel to these places like Star Trek and check them out keep your head to shake. Wake me Jack Parsons who said we have the ability to take ET home. He was head of Skunk Works at that time. You think he's either getting it from using both Hubble telescope's positioned outside of the Earth's atmosphere for triangulation using the Doppler effect to determine the atmosphere of a planet 640 light years away. Come on you know I've got some land for sale at the South Pole would like to buy it

What would it even mean for a gas giant to be tidally locked. Would it be the atmosphere, the planet's core, or it's magnetic field that would always have the same side facing the star

In star trek, they don't like visiting these planets. They avoid em so much we didn't know they existed. And why don't Starfleet have suits composed of shields. Plus tech for humans to hover and fly without a vehicle. Anyhoo
