Astrum

How big is the Solar System? What actually orbits our Sun? Why should I even be interested in space? On this channel, we'll answer these and a whole host of other questions. We will have a series dedicated to each of our planets and showcase beautiful images and videos captured by probes and spacecraft of our amazing Solar System.

I still remember the first time brought Saturn into focus in the eye piece of a 6"/150mm telescope.... seeing that planet and rings seemingly floating majestically in space. It's a feeling that words simply can't describe. It was a moment in time that I'll never forget(nor ever re-capture). It made learning of the Cassini mission via an astronomy magazine, that much more special. Saturn, after all, is the favourite of many. Its the peoples planet.

Was ein Schwachsinn. Vom Teleskop aus kann man Analysen der Jupiter Elemente machen. Schwerer Schwefel. Das misst man aus Millionen Kilometer Entfernung. Genau mein Humor.

The sheer joy because "Don't recommend channel" exists! When you start the channel making good videos, start making money off your quality work, but some force mysteriously takes it over and starts uploading apocalypse-threatening content, unexplainable by scientist, with never-before-seen footage (of a similar thing that happened 12-13 years ago)... Bloody hell!!

I find it fascinating that the shaking of an earthquake is just a side effect of what's really happening. It's the vibration caused by rock grinding against rock as the sides of the fault slide past each other. Strain builds up in the thin crust, caused by the thermal currents in the mantle beneath, until it can't take any more and "slips". The slips usually occur at existing faults (i.e. cracks) but of course there's always a first time - the faults weren't always there. To imagine what's happening, if there's a cup on your desk, push it sideways with your finger, slowly increasing the pressure until the friction can't hold it still and it suddenly slips sideways - that's kind of what an earthquake is.

What mislead me about this event during the first seconds was thinking that a Magnitude of 7.5 is "not shocking", I mean earthquake of much higher magnitudes have happened before. However, Noto 2024 reached 7 out of 7 on the JMA scale and ground acceleration was almost as high as that of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. I still can't comprehend that the ground moved at around 3G during that quake..

Our experience of time is ordered by size. By that I mean that it is both a physical dimension, and a wave in the sense that every particle in the universe is growing/gaining information according to interactions with particles of the same size. Our general experience of particle/wave duality actually stems from interactions with particles that are growing at a rate that regularly overlaps with the rate of growth of the observer - think overlaying rhythms like 2/4 and 4/4 time- and will "sync" up if directly interacted with, at which point they will behave to the observer as a particle. While information is always carried "forward" with an increase in size, under this model interference patterns are possible out of the direction of causality if you allow for multiple instances of the same particle to exist outside of the limited view of what can be directly interacted with by the observer (i.e. the observer's time frame).
