Thank you so much I appreciate that! I think part of it is there is just a certain percentage of people that don't have the interest in a 40+ minute long video, and part of it is I am only just now starting to get some love from KZread's suggesting and recommending, but I am happy to be getting the ones I am!

I would love that too! Gino was one of those dudes you knew was dollar signs as soon as you saw him. To think of the matches we could have got with him and Bret Hart over the IC title in the 90s or programs he could have worked with Savage or Piper when Gino would have inevitably eventually made his way to New York full time…it hurts my soul we never got them

You are 100% correct on that, I found out literally the same day I uploaded that A24 did not lift a finger to get this movie any award consideration since they were putting all their eggs in the Past Lives basket. It’s definitely on them and I toyed around with cutting that out and re-uploading but ultimately I decided that even if it was on A24 this time….I stand behind what I said about The Academy lol.

@ReelStory I don't necessarily disagree, but on a personal note, I'm satisfied with this year's nominees. For the most part, I do think past lives should be nominated, but other than I think, this is the best the oscars have been in years

Love you Eddie quote at the begginging he is one the my favorite wrestlers ever. Jushin Liger was asked who was the best wrestler he ever worked with and he said Eddie.

I’ve got a pop filter on the way actually, I’ve grown to accept the fact my T’s, P’s and K’s are very pronounced and I’ve tried to compensate by being further away from the mic a bit but to no avail. Thanks for the recommendation!

The claw is the goofiest move in the history of wrestling. No matter how good a Von Erich match is eventually it will go to shit when the claw I applied

I suppose that depends on your definition of our society’s teaching of males to stifle their emotions and “just man up and deal with it” and the overall philosophy of placing toughness and stoicism as the primary virtues of manhood. You can call it what you want but it most definitely exists.

@@ReelStory Society doesn't just teach men to stifle our emotions that comes from when men show emotions to women they are interested in and suddenly the woman becomes less attracted to them, because they want a man that is a protector and able to defend them. This comes from the fact that naturally the 2 genders should compliment each other with one being delicate and caring and soft and emotional while the other is strong, defensive/aggressive, and less emotional (nobody is telling men we aren't allowed to HAVE emotions, just that we can't be out in the streets crying like babies at the drop of a dime). The concept of "just man up" comes from the idea that we have to do what needs to be done at times and not cry about it. I disagree I don't think it exists I think Masculinity exists but not Toxic Masculinity.

The problem with your theory is that is completely ignores things like same sex couples, which is in itself a point in the circle of this issue in that homosexuality is seen as “less manly” Also it assumes that women are generally going to completely lose interest in a man once he has shown his emotional side, which is simply itself a byproduct of the idea that our culture has taught for centuries that a man who shows his emotions and has a “feminine” side is not a “real man.” Furthermore the concept of toxic masculinity itself goes way beyond the realm of romantic relationships. Its prevalent in father/son, brothers, best friends. It’s not the having of the emotions that is the conflict, it’s the expression of those emotions. You actually proved my point by saying that men shouldn’t be in the streets crying like babies, that’s the root of it that by a man breaking down and showing his emotions that he is somehow less of a man. And whereas our culture has slowly started to ease back on the stigma and put more emphasis on mental health and things of that nature, that whole thing was an even bigger ideal back during this movies time period. It’s part of our genders proclivity for suicide.

@@ReelStory because it IS that isn't toxic, it is simply looking at reality and seeing reality. Studies have shown that most women will lose respect for a man who is overly emotional (if your mom dies and you cry at the funeral, or you get stabbed and cry that is one thing but I'm talking about if someone talks smack and you cry to your GF). The reason our society teaches that is because it is how nature has made us. The concept goes beyond romantic relationships, but that is what the majority of the bottom line is for most people. But as far as the father/son it comes down to father's trying to teach their sons to be men, friendships guys don't want to be friends with individuals who are considered weak because people tend to flock to others like themselves. Yes it I how those emotions are expressed, I agree. That doesn't prove your point it proves that weakness within men makes them weak and they shouldn't be in the middle of the street like babies. If a guy breaks down and is so weak that he can't control his emotions, and is to weak to be a protector he makes himself less attractive to potential mates and a target to other guys. I agree our society has made men weaker in recent generations it is why our military has become weak and we rely on tech to make up for weak men. I am all for mental health, I know plenty of guys who deployed with me that have PTSD and their way to help themselves is to shoot guns, or build things, or garden but they don't break down and cry like babies at the drop of a hat. Part of our genders proclivity to unblinking themselves is because we tend to have more dangerous jobs, and if we aren't earning 6 figures and 6' tall with a 6 pack we are told by media and women that we are not good enough.

The movie was terrible. Boring emo porn. And knowing the true story it's almost insulting what they ended up making. Obviously you can't tell their story within two hours, but to change it the way they did. Leave out people like Chris and everyone but Kevins family. The cousin Lance and all the other stuff their Dad did, just to make a run of the mill cliched fille movie making it about a curse is just silly. Showing us how brutal the wrestling world is how tough their father was on them should have been what ir was about.

Agree to disagree I suppose. I definitely understand the frustration of what was left out, but I feel like it was a calculated decision because they wanted to cater to people that don’t know anything about the story at all, and when you are dealing with what to fit into a 2 hour runtime, I think there was a line where to include certain things beyond a passing mention (or even at all) would require a lot of explanation of its significance (such as Lance for example) or knowing the story already to understand what was being shown. It’s not a perfect movie by any means but I think they did admirable for the constraints given and there is evidently a ton of stuff that was filmed and didn’t make the cut so fingers crossed we get like a 3.5 hour directors cut someday to fill in some gaps. The showing of how brutal the wrestling world is and how tough their father was on them was shown several times through the movie, I think in reality what it was missing (and I go into this further in part 2) is more examination of Fritz’s enabling and outright denial of his sons issues.

@@ReelStory Yes agree to disagree. Using the fact that it's too much to fit into a movie as the reason why it is not a terrible film, you can say about any film. All films are cut to the bone. Essentials only. But this by any measurement is a terrible film. And by terrible i mean just straight forward emo porn Hollywood storytelling where every character is a stereotype and everything that happens is a cliche. I agree they are definitely catering and something we can argue about with every movie ever made. But they couldn't even keep it real what was in there like when and why they died. Honestly i have never seen anyone handle a death/suicide then this movie did. Mike sitting there like a zombie confused about sounds acting like he was just born. It was laughable. I was literally laughing at the movie at how bad that was. Thinking back on it now makes me laugh. So so bad. And don't even get me started on the curse and how he didn't want to go home because he was afraid his kids would get cursed to. I mean Lmfao and rofl. That is the silliest shite ever.

I think it's important to watch this film. The term "toxic masculinity" is bandied about so casually by third-wave feminists that it's beginning to lose its meaning. This film really does show what real toxic masculinity is and how it destroys families. And it's definitely not woke either.
