Bloodsport (Part Dux) - Getting Frank About Frank - The Reel Story

Ойын-сауық

#bloodsport #kumite #martialarts
It's here everybody! This was a challenging and awesome experience dissecting Frank Dux's life, I hope I stuck the landing and that you all enjoy. I feel like I grew so much as far as my editing skills during this part in particular and I hope that the extra time and effort put into it really shows through. It's the part of my game I feel has the most room to improve, so let me know if you think I did. I know this is a ridiculously long one....I promise there is something worth it if you stick with it haha. Let me know what movie you'd like me to do a Reel Story on as well in the comments.
00:00 - 00:28 - Intro
00:29 - 5:20 - "You guys here for the finals?"
5:21 - 6:11 - You cannot get katana sword by lying

11:35 - 20:57 - A busy busy boy
20:58 - 27:12 - The Black Belt articles

Frank Dux is an example of when you take your middle school fabrications into Adulthood. I’ve always come to the conclusion that Bloodsport & all the hilarious KZread content based around his life makes it all worth it.

When we were little, I had a first cousin that was really like my brother, and he was from the COUNTRY and I mean RURAL. Anyway, he told me once that it was a secret but that he could transform into a Ferrari whenever he wanted. At 6 years old I was too kind to call him out, but now I think if I had a re-do I would counter it with "I'm a Vampire" or some sht.

I read Frank’s book once, as I came across it in a library. I was so excited, as I loved Bloodsport, and thought this was a chance to learn about the real Frank Dux. It was insane. I have never read a book that seemed so self aggrandizing. Apparently, the military began scoping Dux out when he was like 12. He had top secret clearance when he was still a teen, by-passing most training and inserted to the most dangerous undercover operations, right away. He was heavily involved in SE Asia, Russia, Nicaragua… Mars, Saturn, Pluto. He’s been with countless women; all who fell instantly in love with him and were all supermodel-types. It was all just so unbelievable. I didn’t need to see controversy about Frank’s claims for my doubt to form. It was more than enough to hear/read his own words. As a veteran, and someone who practiced martial arts while growing up, I knew that so much of what he claimed in his books was utter nonsense. The fact that he made up so much about everything in his life… he just HAD to know that his lies would be called out, especially being to high profile. It just baffles me that he claims SO MUCH, and always with him on the winning end of whatever he’s claiming. To see that almost none of his facts have any proof behind them is such a disappointment to my 13 year old self. Oh well, at least we got Bloodsport out of it all.

Who remembers their Middle School years when we would lie about just about Everything: I use to lie a lot in Middle School looking back All I did was Waste time, lose friends, worst of all Can't recall one lie after another: Admitted I was a liar, moved on, Looked inward, spent time working, most of all stopped lying, repented from Lying most of all stay to myself: Frank Dux needs to do the same thing I did:

The word is that the guy with the headband who Frank does the mirror moves with was the most accomplished martial artist of the bunch and next in line would have been Paulo Tocha who plays Paco. I know exactly what you mean, I have been a patient of St. Jude ever since my diagnosis and am now part of their long term survivor follow up study, so I was just at their main clinic in Memphis back in April and now with the context of being an adult back there for the first time...it is quite literally one of the most gut wrenching experiences to see all these kids fighting for their lives. I can put into perspective now what my mom and other parents like yourself who have had to deal with watching your child fight something that you can't step in and take for them, so I have so much respect for anyone that has ever had to endure that as well. I'm glad your daughter is healthy and thank you again for the kind words!

I can't imagine how much time all this research must have taken to gather, compile and make into a script you can follow considering the many twists and turns of Frank Dux life and stories. It's a truly impressive piece of content and I'm interested to see where you go next. I think it's ironic that had Dux just admitted to writing fiction from the start and taken that as a career, he might have gone on to be the celebrated man he always wanted to be.... or maybe not. I had intended on doing a Spartacus episode next but that will probably get pushed to the end of the year since it’ll end up being a 2 parter and I have a horror themed episode planned for next month so lots of good stuff coming!! I fully agree and honestly believe that had Frank just come clean and stopped doubling down so hard he might have salvaged a decent writing career and been re-accepted into the fold. His ego is the real villain of his story and seemingly he is unfortunately winless so far against it.

I seem to recall reading that he initially made-up the Kumite story after falling off the truck. He was looking for something less embarrassing to explain his absence and apparently came up with this and has been building on that story ever since. it's the classic pattern of a guy who is a chronic fuck-up becoming a chronic liar to create a fantasy life where he isn't such a loser. It's common among martial artists and law enforcement in particular. Your Steven Seagals and G. Gordon Liddys, etc. They are attracted to these fields because they desperately want to feel powerful and respected.

Frank Dux and his crack spec ops team was also sent into the South American jungles to rescue a high value cabinet minister who got caught traveling on the wrong side of a border. When they got there, they found that Jim Hopper and his team of green berets from Fort Bragg had a bit of a bad time there before them. Dux's and his team started getting whittled away one by one by a mysterious entity with a tape recorder, shoulder-mounted auto-targeting plasma cannon and heat vision. It also had a penchant for skulduggery. Sadly, only Dux survived and he did so purely on skill and utilizing a selection of Home Alone style improvised weapons and traps. True story. 😂

I used to train under Frank. That Tiger Rock Academy is a probably this taekwondo school in the Mill Creek Town center that's no longer in business. He was friends with the owner who let him train people there for free. I haven't associated with him since about 2011, so I don't know if he kept training people there or not. I DO know however, that this video is pretty spot-on to what I know of Frank.

It’s funny because I knew I wanted to remix the song but was a little intimidated because I told myself if it wasn’t funny enough I wouldn’t use it but when I actually sat down to write it only took me like 20 minutes to get the lyrics, it was like my brain had been waiting for that moment since childhood lol

If anyone remembers the KZread Channel: The PinkMan, he had a great series on martial arts frauds, ending with Frank Dux. The best one is Dux's win-streak of 56 fights within a single tournament is mathematically impossible for a tournament. There would need to be 72,000,000,000,000,000+ participants in the tournament.

@@VultureLivesAgain it is only impossible mathematically if the tournament is single elimination. If it is a round robin or multi elimination style, then yes it would definitely be doable.

@@ReelStory Frank claims that it wasn't a single elimination tournament. He says it was similar to the 100-man kumite test in Kyokushin karate. Although it somehow culminated in an 8-man, single elimination tournament on the final day.

I remember having tons of trouble trying to find the soundtrack to this film. It's my favorite soundtrack of all time with Maximum Overdrive. I didn't want the songs with the lyrics which were iconic enough, but I just wanted that keyboard music theme. I couldn't even find it on Napster. It's finally around now but I really needed it over 20 years ago, especially in the 90's while I did my meditation in the backseat of the car

Go public with the photos - FRANK DUX has never shown or even talked about grappling - wrestling - JIU-JITSU - Sambo or any type of submission fighting - if anyone remembers the 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th all the way up to now - you really need to be a well rounded fighter to succeed - look at any modern fighter with success - usually they are excellent grapplers & have a good stand up game - FRANK DUX would prob beat an untrained fighter or a fighter with little experience - if FRANK were to go up against a skilled grappler/wrestler or a fighter that knew submissions - he would get destroyed - he might land a punch - but once the fight went to the ground or even a clinch he wouldn't know what to do - obviously FRANK is lying & anyone with a little knowledge of fighting knows FRANK IS FOS
