This totally works. I had to take a shift at a fundraising table at my college. Three of my particularly bubbly students came by while I was setting up and I asked if they could help out for a bit. They stayed for my whole shift (God bless them always!!) metaphorically tackling people and sitting on them and talking at them re the cause (wildlife conservation). They were relentless, and my shift was a great success to the surprise of everybody. And all I did was stand there and guard the money. YAYYY!

I am okay with giving them gifts, saying "Merry Cristmas/Happy New Year" and leave. I know, thats quite harsh 😀, but hey, we dont have to if we feel drained after, life is too short to pretend you like attenting something just to please others and I hate lying, so told them the truth. They did not care that much anyway. Now I am going to cozy up home with a blanket, have some snacks and play video games all Christmas and it makes me happy :3

This year will be especially scary for me as an INFJ bc I'll celebrate with my stepmom's family for the first time and I don't know them very well. But I've already warned them that I'll probably need to take some breaks and go outside for a small walk and they seemed understanding so far. Now I just have to actually go outside when I should and not stand there like a statue and endure everything lol. I hope you other introverts also manage to communicate your needs early enough and have understanding or at least accepting people around! U can do it! x)

Of course people looked at her a little weird when she told them. Like, couldn't you get a dog sitter for this important day? But actually, she wasn't missed. The event was held at her sons Rich in-laws backyard. And, of course the rich in-laws did mostly everything and ran the show. She put in 2 hours and then was gone! Her husband stayed around and drove home with us while we had a blast.

I'm actually hosting the family Christmas dinner this year, (Oh, I'm an INFJ) so outside of the procrastination of actually finishing the overwhelming amount of cleaning my small place needed/needs, the anxiety of "do I have enough food" and "will everyone like what I'm serving" and "what should I cook and when because I don't have enough pots, time and oven space" and "where the hell am I going to put my table to serve all the stuff where people can actually get to and from it" and "how the hell am I going to get the futon out of my daughter's room all by myself so that I have enough seating in my small living room" and "how am I going to block my dogs in the kitchen to keep my anti-social dog away from everyone and the other one away from the one nephew that isn't used to dogs" (and, and, and), at least I'll be able to use the "I'm cooking" or "checking on supper" or whatever to avoid the family interaction :) My poor 14-year old daughter will have to do most of the interactions (hee hee). (Yes, I am wordy. Sorry.) Oh yeah, and I can't use the "behind the tree" thing because I don't actually have one - I'm making a "tree" out of the 12 feet of lights that I bought and some cool foil tissue/wrapping paper and putting it on the wall, so the kitchen and the bathroom are my escape and avoidance rooms.

Kim B, that's me - INTJ mom here, who hosts every year. Wish I could say it gets easier, well, maybe it does a *little* .The only way I survive is to make lists, *lots* of lists. Cleaning tasks, decorations, gifts, menu & food shopping. It gives me something to obsess about that’s actually helpful in keeping my preparations on track ....everything, including (very important) list for the actual day, otherwise I invariably forget to serve some appetizers or drinks. I have a great family, but I always worry that my hosting skills might not meet the expectations of my grown children’s partners. Wish I could relax more! 🙄 Maybe you could ask a burly neighbor to move the futon? Bring some cookies, or fruit, as a gift. Although asking a favor can be as painful as a back injury! LOL

I have cleaning lists for each room or section of course, "what to pull out of the freezer when" list, "when to prep this or that" list, "what to do the day before" list and am going to finish the "what to do the day before" and "what to do the day of" lists, oh yes, and the "make sure this goes on the table" list, either today or tomorrow :) I think I missed a list to list above, but no doubt I have that one too lol. My trick is to stick with a trusted extrovert who knows I'm an introvert and they'd handle all the talking~ hehehe

Thanks to the pandemic I don’t have to make a excuse to stop people from coming to my house, I don’t even have to give reasons why.

These legitimately work. Every year during one of my family get togethers, I hide under the food table- been doing it for years. It's like I just disappear into thin air.

Lucky me, my family consists of mostly introverts 😍✌️ So we all understand that we need our own time very soon for very long after meeting during the holidays 😂 Everyone is just like: Ahhh I am so exhausted, please don't talk to me🤚

I don't know, usually I listen to John Coltrane's version of My Favorite Things on repeat with the bass turned all the way up to put me in a meditative state while driving, but screaming might work, too. 😂 Merry Christmas 🎄

Hilarious! I have one to add I do every year or at every party I go to: Find the family cat or dog, and spend time with it alone in the room while everyone is partying. Animals are the best recharge and companions...they understand your need to be alone. ~INFJ
