Very suspect to present an unboxing to consumers of an item that is not actually a retail unit. Brings up more questions than answers, and is just a shady thing to do... So strange.

@@JoeChip They need to prove to the German government that they made games and a prototype using the given funds. That's why they did this. Nothing is coming out, they don't have any money left to operate for 2 months, let alone produce thousands of Amicos.

@@JoeChip same thing happened to the horrible Uwe Boll movies, he always gets a German fund to film those, uses the smallest amount of cash, makes crap but proves to the government that he made a movie. There is law that promotes emerging businesses in Germany, it is a good thing but at the same time it gets abused a lot by grifters and scammers.

It is only natural to look at this video with a fine-tooth comb because they are asking $250 for this thing and they have been caught being shady in the past. Also, it is clear this video was done to stop people from canceling their pre-orders.

The fact that the system was unwrapped and the controllers were sitting in it just made me laugh. There's no way a product would ship that way

It is quite compelling, isn’t it? There’s a PhD in there for a psychologist. And that’s just looking at the hardcore fanboys, who seem to have lost their minds over it.

Apparently they had the prototype packaging for over a year. People are saying tommy was bragging about it in a podcast even back a full year.

Yeah I think I’d heard that. It just makes this whole “unboxing” look really bad.

Amico has themselves backed into a corner whenever they show us anything at this point its under suspicion and going to be viewed under a microscope. I don't trust anything team Amico tells us at this point. Also if there getting ready to ship any consoles hopefully they would ship Founders systems first which they have been extremely quiet about. I honestly don't understand how the Amico faithful can't see any of this my mom use to have a saying that some people are blind in one eye and can't see out of the other.

Amico wasn't showing this console to us, The were showing it to a potential million dollar investor in order to trick them.

There’s no way a gaming console is coming out a week AFTER Christmas. That be such a strategical screw up everyone involved should be fired.

The weirdest thing to me was that every option icon including the Store icon were “gear” icons…? The U.I. Isn’t finalized it appears…. Also the power supply was an North American 110v, not a Euro 220v yet it’s a Euro model console? Weird… This video is out of desperation to show people that they have a “complete” console ready for mass production and please don’t retract your preorder’s! Lol, but all the video does is raise many more questions than answers….. 🤣

Absolutely. You’d have to be blind and daft not to see that the video raises more issues than it solves. It was just a desperate attempt to pull the wool over people’s eyes again. As for that pre-order, I can only laugh.

Yeah, I saw that. I wonder why that was there. Could have just taken a knock, I suppose. Bit embarrasing for them, though. I doubt you'd get that with Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, Valve etc. They'd make sure the box was pristine. But then, it'd be an actual retail box.

And at 6:27 you can see the top of the box is bent up. 9:47 "Why is a US power supply in a European box?" - And he's trying to cover the cord with his hand in that shot. The cord certainly looks like it's been re-wrapped. Seriously, this is ridiculous. Show me a sneak-peek video of an X-Box, Playstation or Nintendo console where half the video is spent on the box and menu language options.

Agreed wifi is setup already the ssid has the lock symbol next to it, meaning it needs a password and it's not 'open' wifi!

In case it was missed: "1-4 Players" wasn't translated when he switched languages.

Exactly. They needed to produce a video of a factory sealed console being opened, with no jump cuts or other nonsense. Unfortunately they don't have a factory sealed console because there are none.Which begs the question: why do an "unboxing" at all?

Joe, you weren't confused about Space Strikers - initially it came up as installed on the system under "My Games", but suddenly in the store it is shown as not yet installed/purchased. Quite odd.

Yeah, I'm going to have to look at that again because I hadn't spotted anything initially but then thought I saw something during the recording of the video. Something was weird. Just another anomaly to add to the list, I suppose.

They needed 1.7 million dollars to "complete the firmware" and their back-end servers and systems. Money they didn't get with the failed crowdfunding campaigns.

Great video. Just want to mention that I don't think any of the current generation consoles are wrapped in cellophane wrap, at least in Canada currently (unless I am misunderstanding what you mean by this). The Xbox One X, Series X, PS4 and PS5 were boxes in the video BUT had stickers sealing the contents (ie. would not slide easily). The Nintendo Switch (and I believe all the 3DS machines and Wii U from what I remember) have no seals, but a pushout cardboard thing to lock the contents in. Otherwise, I agree with the other weird fishy things about the box contents (wire wrapping, space, etc)

Actually yes, that's a good point. No cellophane or shrink wrap, just stickers to seal them and to show they are full retail units that haven't been tampered with.

Until they show these things packed on pallets ready to ship, anything they say or do means less than nothing.

Personally I don't see where the market is for the Amico. Having a simple couch co-op console in the living room within itself isn't a bad concept. There are ways to really create interest like if it had Guitar Hero / Rock Band type of instruments and games since they've been gone for a while there's huge demand for them. Also maybe even like singing machine / karaoke type games to complement other types of family style of game. But as it stands it just doesn't make sense to have a $250 console that plays flash games considering almost any tablet can do that. Also if you look at this vs. a Switch or XB1S it makes absolutely no sense.

No, I agree. That was always one of my concerns with the console. Games sell systems and while I was intrigued by the hardware the games always looked a bit suspect to my eyes.

Just something I noticed, why would you even need a languages setting menu option? You would think that you would tell the console during the initial setup? Now if a kid goes and plays on it and accidentally changes the language settings everytime they play it'll cause issues lol

This all seems really fake. He's zooming in on pointless details like the text on the box and trying to make their Co sound legit by talking about different departments and "our guy in Europe" Only 2 things matter - the hardware and the cash to build it.

The amount of money you would save by not putting the console color on the box is basically negligible. As is, this allows them to box up their units and add the sleeve afterwards. They may wish to update the sleeve later to advertise some new promotion or w/e

I'm not entirely sure what you are saying as you seem to be contradicting yourself. I may just be mis-reading your comment, though.

This presentation is like some one calling themselves a Chef selling me on a restaurant. But all they talk about is the bootleg-looking plating and the spoons, trying to pass it of as functional... So anyways here's white bread. To me this console is for old old folks with visiting grandkids. Who else spends 4 minutes (i counted) on accessibility, " its so family friendly you guys", settings and instalation?? WHERE'S THE GAMES? .... omg are those cheaper mobile games from the ads? This really is for old people...

This whole Amico thing is hilarious and sad at the same time. I mean seriously who other than a totally deluded egotist like Tommy Tallerico and die hard cultists who think the peak of gaming was the late 70's to 1983 would think this had any real chance in the market. Even if they got it out when it originally was supposed to come out it still would have been like a fart in a hurricane. all you had to do is look at the Atari VCS, which had similar people interested in it, touting it as a game changer and how well that is setting the world on fire right now to know how this was going to flop worse than a 600 pound fat man covered in concrete and holding a anvil being dropped into a pool. It's even more under powered, no clue on who it's market was like the VCS and a library of games the majority of people could careless about. Yet people thought it was going to change the landscape of gaming? Yeah people said that about the VCS too. God it's sad how long it hung around and how many people like slopes game room advertised for this obvious faliure of a shit box

Hey if the Amico team would’ve been more honest and released the system on the release date it was originally scheduled to release on yes the system might’ve failed on the console market vs the switch, Xbox and PlayStation but at least more people would have interest in the system here’s a saying honesty would get get you far in life you won’t get far in life with dishonesty

Those controllers seem really delicate to me. I can't understand why they would be so close to the top where the could get smashed.

Not even all of the information is translated... look as they leave the settings menu, and the game information still says "A new Amico game" and "1-4 players" even in German. Also, games show ESRB ratings for a EU console? Also, Space Strikers is unowned but is on the home screen from the beginning?

It looks unfinished to me. This "unboxing" was not of a retail unit and from what we can see here, they are nowhere near having a retail unit ready. And yes, DCT, the games always looked quite poor to me. It's something I was hoping would improve when I first saw the console. Sadly that was never going to happen.

What I also can’t understand is why they didn’t adopt a similar theme as to how nightstalker looked with the retro unique character!

@@burkehare01 the Breakout developer said they were angry because Tommy showed footage from their game on the last E3 without permission. Also, the Ecco the dolphin clone, dolphin quest, is now in development for all consoles and Steam, but they dropped the Amico. Same thing happened to Caveman Ninja and Rtype.

Here's another question I don't know if anyone's address if this is supposed to be shipped out to one of the European supporters, why is there no complaints from him that someone's rifling through his box and showing it on youtube? I agree that this is all a huge dumpster fire mess, but to have doubts because the box doesn't have cellophane is not entirely fair. I say this because I can't remember the last time I purchased a console that had cellophane wrapping. This is just not a thing that happens much, I don't even think my first NES or SNES consoles had plastic wrap on the box. That said, this is highly suspicious and I don't know why anyone would buy this console.

If it wasn't for all the Haters, then the Amico would have released in 2020, become a trillion dollar enterprise, and Tommy Tallarico would be giving us all rides around the world in his hover Ferrari. None of these problems would be happening if people didn't say mean things to Tommy.

'It'll change the language, they have lots of them over there' and yet the system doesn't have English on there but the murican dialect. 🤦‍♂ At least this is keep the localisation or should that be 'localization' aspect of retro gaming alive.

When gamers buy these bloated, nostalgia-bating overpriced units, they're basically telling the industry: "please abuse me".

OK. OBVIOUSLY this is a prototype of the packaging for Europe (You can see clearly how the sleeve, and the rest of the box were bended by hand). They NEVER said is a retail box ("this is the box that WILL appear on retail shelves..."). OBVIOUSLY you can expect changes over the time, for the box design, before sales begin. If you see this as a prototype, mailing it overboard makes perfect sense. ALL your arguments are based in the WRONG idea that this is a RETAIL box / product. Clearly, everything you see here, are PROTOTYPES. In the whole video they never say they are ready to begin production, or that these are the final / retail / commercial versions of the things showed on the video.

Unboxing nowadays, is referred to analyze, open and show the contents of a box of a RETAIL product, already in the stores and available to be purchased by the consumers. Because of that, the expectations of both (them and us) are not the same, and that explains the roast of this video in all the media.
