I love the 1970 to 1973 Formula Firebird and a true Pontiac fellow I love what you fellows have done to this car right down to the colors. My son and I agree that putting stripes on a formula does not look right as they do for the Camaro. Seeing this has made me change my mind you pulled in off. Real classy You guys real good seeing what you did this car. Great choices in just the right way keeping the original look with just a touch of modern look and a lot of modern tech. Its still a blast to drive an original Formula 400 as they are radical. I would love to feel this ride on this car

Man, the second-gen (small bumper) F-Car was one of GM's best designs. This is a stunning build. Love those door handles, they look "factory", unlike the crap looking ones that builders buy from Kindig. Car has a very mean stance. Well done Detroit Speed, well done.

I was born in '71, and I'm trying to decide on my favorite car of that year. I had an '85 Trans Am and my favorite '60s car is the '68 Firebird. You guys are making it difficult for me with this one. The paint is incredible. I must be a Pontiac fan because this is the best 1971 car I've seen.

@detroitspeed - great job on that aluminum rear spoiler! While there maybe some disagreement on the engine choice it’s a very tasteful build - not overly modern. I would have preferred to keep or replicate the beautiful engine-turned dash of the original though. I always thought that was really cool.

Looks like I'm going to be that one guy who'll probably not be popular but oh well I guess .Was digging the build up till the non functional ram air intakes and the non Pontiac motor . Not a whole lot of these cars around anymore and almost every time I see a build video they've gutted the original motor and transmission trying to make it like a Corvette . Too bad real Pontiacs died in the early 80s after they started putting Chevy or Japanese equipment in anything that had a Pontiac badge . Had a 71 Firebird and a 73 Camaro and they definitely weren't the same beasts at all .The Firebird was built better all around and had that unique Pontiac sound and character .I'm currently working on a 1970 Grand Prix with all the original equipment .I've had some people suggest that I put the performance built small block I have sitting in my shop but there's no way I'd do that to that big beast .Too much of a hassle to convert and for what reason when the original 400 ci worked just fine ? Well to each their own I guess .

No one is ruining anything. These guys are on a league of their own. In fact they’re the only ones that stay true to original design and the key elements that made these cars. You might not follow the market but some of these resto mods are bringing big money in some cases more than original cars.
