i really wish people would give this woman her flowers. she conveys emotion so well in her music; you can really tell she does it for the love of the game. i don't see how hayley isn't recognized by the general public as one of the best vocalists out right now! she's got amazing range and can write the hell out of a song! i absolutely adore her and can't wait to see them again soon!

Love the video, I don't see a ton of music youtubers discussing how difficult singing is, not to mention being a pro at it like Hayley. Not only do you need to be genetically predisposed to have a certain voice, but the work that goes into maintaining it is exhausting. I play a few instruments and I always tell people that the hardest one is singing.

@@sergescardigno The only song that she ever hit her highest note was on the song "All I wanted" which is a song from Brand New Eyes Album , the note was so high , that she refused to sing this song live for years because of fear she would damage her throat ,even when Hayley did the song in the studio back in 2009 she had to take a break from singing , she never sang the song until this year

only thing I would add is how insanely high her chest voice gets up to. she can belt/sing full voice wayyyyy higher than the avg singer (ie all I wanted)(not sure if this would be mixed voice!)

Great video! love Hayley, such an inspiration. BTW a really low note (and a really hard register transition) that you didn't mention is in "Hate to see your heart break". I liked that you focused on the hard low notes instead of the high belting that everyone focuses on when referring to her because what is challenging the most to do when singing is the register transitions

EASILY one of my favorite singers working today. I think there was a misguided focus on vocalists, in pop music in particular, in previous decades. Artists like Mariah Carrey or Britney Spears were vocalists first and their artistry was always in service of their vocal performance, not the other way around. Hayley's voice is a focal point of the music of Paramore, definitely, but that performance is elevating the art of the band, rather than the band simply being window-dressing for her voice. The drama around Paramore, the band, not being signed to a record label and it actually being Hayley who was signed with them as her "backing band" contractually, is something that is both justifiable, given what an incredible vocalist she is, and ultimately something that I feel is very intentionally kept from being the actual reality of their music. The way their songs are written, produced and mixed, Hayley is "The singer for Paramore", Paramore is not "Hayley Williams' backing band". I think that's a real testament to the band and to Hayley that this is true.

2:15 is where you lost me. I really rate Hayley Williams as a singer but her singing during her live performances is sometimes downright awful. There's no doubt she can sing. No doubt she can entertain, and even when the voice isn't there it still fits into that category. But saying her dancing doesn't affect her voice ignores all those times she's been absolutely awful. You don't go to a Paramore concert for her singing it seems.

I watched this and can't argue with your knowledge of her singing, but honestly I never found her voice very appealing or melodic. It sounds monotone and the band sounds like a hardcore punk band that tried to sell out and was successful at selling out. I would describe their music as dry and monotonous. There were probably so many other bands that could have been promoted instead of them from the beginning of their start. But that dry unmelodic sound started in the late mid-late 90's with Korn and many others. Can't blame paramore, they went with what was already "trendy" at the time and added just a touch of more melody. I just prefer real melodies and a wider spectrum of sound. They always sounded like headphones with socks over the speakers.

U sound like one of those people who needs everyone to over express themselves in both their music and their facial expressions/body language in order for u to understand what they're feeling or what they're trying to to convey. Seems like you spend too much time watching anime and now expect everyone to be over dramatic when trying to express themselves. Now, I haven't heard the entirety of paramore's catalog, but from what I have heard, they are far from monotone. If your emotionally unintelligent, just say that🤷🏼‍♀️ I am interested in what u consider real melodies though. What or who do u consider songs/artists with real melodies with wider spectrum of sound?
