You forgetting the wide body until the last hour 😂😂 That thing makes a huge difference, since increase a lot of the tire width it self, it generates a lot more grip! Definitely wasn't easy for us to get the 6:42 as well, tried bunch of different setups and drove so many laps too, trying to lower just couples of tenths. I drove more than 1000km in a single day on this combo at some point on the weekend 💀

Got to end and thought "oh man, short video today" then realized it was 25 minutes! Goes to show the elite entertainment value Super GT has.
Pro-tip: if you lose the rear braking into corner entry, move the brake bias forward. If you notice the car understeering on brake entry, most the brake balance backward. This can help substantially. If you want a decent suspension baseline, set camber to -3 front and rear. Then set damping and rebound to full soft. Starting with damping, begin doing fast laps until you get your peak lap time. When your adjustments begin to make the ride so harsh that you start to lose time, go back to the last "good" setting. Do this again with rebound. From there, fine tuning adjustments for understeer/oversteer should be done via the anti-roll bars. This isn't perfect by any means, but it will get you somewhere versus the terrible stock tunes that the game gives you.

Great to see someone tuning the same way as myself. Though I usually leave dampers at default. Pretty much all sims especially GT has nearly perfect flat tarmac, which imo damper tuning wont have a very significant effect compared to ARB/spring rates.. also the toe is very important too.

How to overtake tip: (my 2 cents) Don't try to hard. Be patient. Break early on the outside when you are really close and get a better exit to long straights. Whatever you do, don't be reckless or you will just end up being "old switcherooed". Ultimately if you are decently fast and consistent you will gain positions one way or another. Good luck!

This was one of my favorite time trial events in all of gt7. It was hard yes, but so worth it. Hopefully Polyphany does more like this with some upper limits of power and weight and says hey, go get it.
The best laptimes come at the limit of grip. That's what I've always heard. The closer you can get to drifting without drifting while covering as short a distance as possible, the better. This is why suspension and differential settings are some of the most important things to tune when at your limits, it changes where that limit appears.
Love the commentary over your stressful endeavor. Absolutely stunning work Super GT
This was an all time favourite video of yours mate. Brilliant commentary and editing made me laugh and epic ending well done indeed. Never in doubt
This reminds me of spending HOURS grinding nordschleife trying to get a sub 5 min lap on Forza 6 in hardcore mode, ended up getting a 4:53 which was 4th in the world with the F1 car, however there was only about 200 people who had laps posted in hardcore mode.
Outstanding! I know I will never be able to compete at your level so seeing you have success after so many failures, is enough for me. Really enjoyed this video!

Seeing Steve struggle on this track just makes me think about how insane the world record driver real life is
Steve - so glad to see you struggle! I did 26 laps on the bounce and didn’t complete one without messing up somewhere - optimum time was a silver, 1.95 secs away from gold - but best lap time wasn’t even a bronze as I stopped and bathed my bloody and calloused hands and swore never to race this again with an NSX (which is a shame because in real life it is a fantastic car to drive)…. We’ll done you though on getting there - although there was never any doubt!
Haven’t watched the rest of the video yet, but the format of you going round the track in a stock car then going through the tuning process was really good. For me, it was informative to see. Thank you
I'm just here to say I really love the time trial videos!
Hey Super GT, viewer here. Here are my setup recommendations for you. If you have a twitchy car, the first this I would do is to increase the rear toe in to stabilize the car. The toe in, meaning rear tires pointing inwards, is usually measured in degrees, I am not sure what the GT7 bar unit is but you should try to crank it all the way to 1, usually 3 to 4 degrees of toe in should be fine in the rear. In the front, put some toe out, tires pointing outwards, one degree of toe out should be fine, again idk about the GT7 bar value. This setting should reduce some top speed. If you need more stability you should stiffen the front roll bar slightly compared to the rear to reduce steering. You had a good reflex to pay with the downforce, put more downforce in the rear to stabilize it. The wide body worked because you have more grip all over it is just physics and load transfer, having wider car reduces weight transfer giving you more grip. By tweaking and perfecting the balance of the car you could go even faster! Good luck!
Watching this video made me relive a week of frustration and heartbreak. In the end I managed to do a 6:53.485, so a tenth and half slower, almost identical sectors; happy, yet proud. Good job nailing it on the final hour!
Well done. I always hated the long straight when you know you’re on a cracking lap. My hands would get sweaty. I’d fight with all my might to not brake too early and/or tentatively because the more hesitant you are, not only are you already losing a little bit of time, but the more likely you are to make an error. You just had to full send it in the last few corners. 😁💪🏼
Hello Super GT, viewer here.
That's Gou Hojo's number plate on the car
Such a genuine person, always a pleasure to watch
Superb job! The most difficult track in all of racing history and you made it look easy once you had the setup! Congrats man!🎉
Could you record your mic during these races/time trials? Would love to hear your reaction to certain events during the game. Especially felt like it wouldve added to this video's ending as well
Thank you for keeping the whole lap at the end there, very satisfying to watch.
Nicely done dude! Great video!
That music that plays when hitting gold just give you the best feeling
A few setup tips. Increase the rake of the car. Force the rear aero to function more, and increase the over all downforce generated by the body. Stiffen the rear until the car becomes too twitchy. Leave it on the limit. Do the same for softening the front. Start balancing the two. You can also adjust the camber based on your corning. Keep that contact patch on the road. Adjust the front toe outward to help with responsiveness.
Absolutely great content and exceptional driving skills! Thank you for all the amazing videos you put out.
Thanks for showing the messy process. Very encouraging!
dude, youre incredible. solid work and persistence my friend
Well done! Stellar performance 👏

Beautiful display of driving there to get that gold really well done it was a joy to watch. I respect your persistence.
No I love the 3rd section more! Nice driving as always, definitely making me wish I still had GT. The license tests back in GT4 did wonders for memorizing that track.
That last lap was very tense, kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time. Love your narration, Steve!
these are the best videos. need to see more of these!
I guess it's because it is the longest track "in the wooorrld" that everybody likes it. But for me it is a nightmare. Narrow and with too many turns to remember..but maybe I should work up the unreal patience and coolness of supergt? Well done! I was on nails the whole time even if the whole video gave the vibe of gold.
This video is a prime example of why you’re the most popular and enjoyable GT creator to watch - you’re not a casual and neither are you a professional. You’re simply a guy that tries really hard and succeeds in the end. Keep it up, Steve!
amazing video!! i don’t play grand turismo but enjoy hearing your commentary
one thing i learned from GT4 is that you can use the brake controller to change bias on cars that tend to understeer or oversteer so you can effectively brake into your cornering and almost guarantee a good entry angle. Increase brake bias to rear and this should usually be the case but you need to have a good balance between weight distribution and brake bias. also in general when tuning - always go for maximum raw power output and lightweight clutch/flywheel because it will increase acceleration even after having to downtune it for the challenge settings.
Awesome format for a video Steve. Great work.
Savage trial man. You put in the work and grinded until you got it! CONGRATS!
i love his struggle, makes me feel like im not the only one
GG steve, it was really satisfying to see the improvement through the laps. I worked my ass off to get a 6:55 and i was porjected to get a 6:53 on my last attemp but i scuffed the last couple of corners😂. Didn't even cross my mind putting the widebody on, it really looked way more stable and less nervous
24:29 - Jesus. That's as close as you ever wanna get to that corner under braking. Hell of a run, Super!
Now that's perseverance! Bravo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Im not even close to your level so I was struggling to get bronze in this one and never did. I was so frustrated! But watching your video actually made me realize just how dumb I am. For reasons I cannot begin to understand, I was under the impression that you could not modify cars in these time trials. I would just drive them bone stock and not touch a thing. I have no idea why I thought that but now hopefully I will do better in subsequent trials. Thanks man. Love your videos.
Definitely one of your more entertaining vids. Well done.

What an amazing and beautiful lap you put together!
My favorite track. You took it like a champ. Congrats, GT.
Great driving mate!
I tried this but I don't have the map knowledge or the car tuning knowledge to do it effectively...Wish I had been able to see this when it was active lol! It's encouraging in a way to see better sim racers make mistakes, since I am new into the sim racing world. It means that even the best of the best make mistakes and that I shouldn't stop after one or two mistakes.
When you finally hook up a lap like that, it really is a thing of joy! Excellent stuff Steve, that's the business 😉 👌
Ok this is a banger. Super gt, you should make a series out of this. Watching you work out the inner kinks and flaws in your build and runs until you eventually get there

That ending was hype. Absolutely sensational mate. You love to see it.
That ending was epic! Congratulations!
I like these time trial videos where you sort go through your problem solving about how to get it done
Good job Steve!
Opposite to many peoples belief, race cars are not really low for Nordschleife. The amount of compression and decompression the suspension has to do basically requires a decently high car. Also the suspension is usually fairly soft compared to other tracks, to accomodate the bumpiness of the track plus the insane amount of curb riding. I dont know how much this is applicable to GT but it hopefully helps understanding the tune settings. Also the track is a lot more about power and downforce, instead of speed in corners. Best example is comparing the GT2RS and GT3RS. All in all fantastic video as always Steve. Congrats on succeeding!
Not sure why but this was probably my favorite video of yours so far! It had everything in it! Keep it up SuperGT
Great editing, enjoyed the video very much!
