This is my favorite audio book adaptation yet. The poetic sections, the explanations after each chapter, the audio effects, and the voices used work great together. Well done.

Without a doubt - this is fantastic.

For anyone wondering where he is, I checked his Twitter and it looks like he's been pretty sick, probably with the flu. But you'll be happy to know he's reported lessening symptoms and will hopefully be fully fine and showing us noodles any day now.

The story of Simeoisios blew me away, as did much of the battle. Amazing how compelling this is to modern ears; aided, of course, by your stellar presentation.

Thank you for putting so much effort into these, George. Just as I was finishing my book on roman historical dynasty, my favourite KZreadr makes a series on ancient Greek mythological history. Not only that, the audiobook is clear with fantastic sound effects to immerse and commentary on the history after every book! I’m interested in the word “council.” It is used pretty often; the gods are divided in council, Odysseus is first in council, people give council, are called to council, and are evaluated by their council. Are these all the same word in Greek? It’s an interesting concept.

I miss your videos george. Been following you for a decade. I was 13 when I watched my first Super Bunnyhop video.

I love this series. Your adaptation is spectacular, and your performance of each part is just marvelous. The rhythmic description of the ships from a couple books ago is something I replay a bunch, gives me chills. It's how I'd imagine the Iliad would have been performed back in its day, when it was all verbal history told through song. You capture the feeling of sitting round a fire, listening to the tales of your ancestors. It's magical. Mr. Weidman I've been a big fan for a long time, and it warms my heart to see you giving it welly with this adaptation. You're an inspiration. Thank you.

Two favorite things about Book 4: 1) Menelaus literally telling Agamemnon "It's just a flesh wound" after Agamemnon starts preemptively mourning his death after he gets hit by an arrow, and 2) Athena double-dog daring Pandarus that he for sure wouldn't shoot an arrow at Menelaus, causing him to do just that. I loved Hades the video game, but one thing that I think gets ascribed to Athena a little too strongly is her being a god of wisdom, while she's far more a god of war than Ares is in the Iliad. I believe Emily Wilson described Athena as a god who "loves violence," and she's both crafty and bloodthirsty in the Iliad, and the Odyssey. I still remember this book being my first exposure to this side of her, since the most prominent image I had of her was that of a thoughtful, calm kind of god.

this was always an ambitiuos project, hope one day you can finish it, and if not, its okay. i love the illiad, and this rendition and version of it its great and very inclusive which is very nice as i remember struggling in my first year of uni reading it

Thank you George for finally allowing me to read The Iliad, a work I've always been curious about but nevertheless always avoided because it had such an intimidating tone (not only the language, but also the context necessary to appreciate it - two points you tackled very satisfingly). Also, I love being able to gloat to my friends: "hey guys, I'm finally caught up with The Iliad!"

don't know how I missed the other uploads. my friend has been imploring me to read this, so I think I finally found the motivation to complete it. thanks!

This rendition gives me a much better opinion of Agamemnon. He's usually depicted as a blowhard and a figurehead berating the true heroes serving under him, but he honors the gods and fights alongside his men. 20:00 Aw shit!

I think it's funny that Zeus doesn't really care one way or the other and gives the order to disturb the peace, but later Agamemnon is convinced Zeus is as furious with Troy as he is and states this over and over.
