The ignoring narcissistic mother

#narcissism #narcissistic #narcissisticmother #couragecoaching
The ignoring narcissistic mother causes great harm to her children. Unlike the engulfing mother, the ignoring narcissistic mother knows the boundaries between herself and her child very well.

Well...this is what I've lived. I don't think anyone could even fathom what it's truly like unless they've experienced it themselves. I'm forever affected.

I am so sorry you have experienced this trauma. You are right! Unless you have lived through this, it is impossible to truly understand.

I’d love to know your thoughts on this. Are narcissists only narcissistic with certain people? The one I’m in the process of disentangling from is seen as a total sweetheart and is very fondly thought of. Hes absolutely loved by the staff and kids at the school. He’s a lollipop man, always with a cheery smile and an expert at small talk! Makes me wonder if they’re part time narcissists with certain people who bear the full brunt! Others only get to experience the lovely side of them that they’re capable of. It’s very confusing!

They are usually superficially charming outside the family home but it is an act..It is not the reality because this behaviour isnt authentic or consistent overall. Like you said, those closest to them see them for who they truly are.

@@CourageCoaching thank you so much for this answer. It makes a lot of sense to me. This person also lacks depth and as I said, he’s great at the nice, surface level easy breezy few minutes here and there of small talk with the parents and teachers and so many of the kids give him hand-drawn pictures, the school staff worship him and every dog that passes by rolls right over for a big petting session from him. He’s viewed as the cuddly, loveable lollipop man. In reality, this person is a proud liar, never follows through on his word, never apologises when he’s really been out of line. Ever. And he’s highly passive aggressive and can go from nought to 60 in an instant. Scary how so many are taken in by such a person just as I was.

@@mariarossi6719 Yes, unfortunately this is really common with a lot of narcissists. The public see the ‘mask’ they wear, not the true person.
