Hellllll no! This is pure rock and roll! The singers voice is very soulful and sounds African American but this is clearly no black R&B group. Pure rock n roll musicians.

I came across this song about a year ago by accident, I'd never heard of it or The Ides of March before. It's quickly become one of my favourite songs. It really has that summer-night urban feel to it, a Seventies sound you had to be there to appreciate.

I got to hear the reconstituted band play this (and other songs) aboard a rock 'n' roll cruise a couple of years ago. While on a shore excursion, I wound up sitting (on the bus) right in front of Jim Peterik (lead singer, songwriter) and his wife. Someone across the aisle asked him about the song. He said, well, it starts with the horn break, and--at which point I jumped in and said, then you have to worry about those friendly strangers in the black sedans. To which Jimbo replied, yes, and the pictures and the candy, and hey, I was 19 years old when I wrote that song, what did I know! Actually, he wrote it trying to woo back his girlfriend, offering to give her a ride, and it worked, because they are still married many decades later.

Just found this from one of your past reactions you are so right mr. Renaissance man. this song makes you want to move it makes you feel bad. you got it immediately you are the man. the lyrics are not literally what he's singing. it's all about attitude they just seem right with that music and those horns and guitars. I'm glad I found it Renaissance Man.

The lead singer (and song writer) Jim Peterik went on to form Survivor (Eye of the Tiger) with one of my high-school classmates, Frankie Sullivan. This song blew up in Chicago during my high-school years. It interesting to note that Jim Peterik wrote and sang this song at the age of 15, way too much soul and strength for that age, outstanding!

It's a great song, from the same era as Lighthouse, Sly & The Family Stone, Blood Sweat & Tears, Tower of Power, early Chicago albums, etc. Those were great days, when groups needed talent and musicianship to play. I played high school band in the early 1980s, and these sorts of songs bridged the generation gap between us kids playing and out classically trained band teachers.

Don't stop here. Jim Peterik has a unique voice and is one of the greatest rock n' roll songwriters of all time. Check out Jim as the leader and power behind Survivor, Pride of Lions, and World Stage. Proof positive that music has no color. I'm an old timer and a drummer, and even when there was racial unrest in the '60's, guys from our Italian neighborhood went to all-black nightclubs to see Jackie Wilson, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, and The Four Tops. There never was any trouble because money is "green". Later.

How much for a song? Is it a donation thing or a pledge thing? I can’t find the info on the specifics.

No not at all friend. I take request for song regardless. The difference is on my Patreon channel. People that Pay for me to do a certain song they like. I'm obligated to do so, but those that request songs on youtube. I write them down and put them on a list or in bingo ball roller. So any given night I am doing a mixture of songs of those that paid and song of those that were chosen randomly from the bingo ball roller.

***A Great Tune!!!*** ..... This was the radio version, the song is much longer..... too bad there aren't more HIT songs reacted to on this channel, lots of filler songs and personal favorites, its songs and reactions like this that make me check back in a few times a month.
