I’m surprised Adam didn’t recognize the game-chat wheel for what it actually is: switching between two channels of audio so that you can hear chat or your game more or less. I often use these on my Arctic 7s to turn down the game audio so I can hear my friends on discord.

I would be very interested for labs to also do some latency testing for wireless headphones. A lot of headphones in the gaming space get advertised as "ultra low latency" or whatever, but they rarely put a number on it. For gaming latency is pretty important and for me personally, I make some music on PC here and there and I've been looking arround for wireless headphones/-sets for a long time but most if not all suffer from pretty bad latency. Especially when using bluetooth it can get over 100ms in latency which is pretty noticable, when its added onto all latency inherently present in the chain already. The yamaha YH-WL500 that came out this year are the only wireless headphones I know of that got into the sub 10ms range (at least they say). Maybe you could do a review of those sometime?

The dongle of the Maxwell is a new latest Bluetooth ble-audio dongle in disguise. So they don't do really lossless and they don't do truly low latency. I believe it's rated under 3ms or something though. But for monitoring yourself a cable is still the way to go

There is no comparison really, other gaming headsets come no where close to what audeze does. They use the same B&K testing rig that LTT uses to tune their headphones, so until other manufactures start following suit, they are in a class of their own right now. The planar tech in audeze headphones shines especially when it comes to distortion; the dynamic drivers of other headphones completely fall apart distortion wise when applying EQ to match the target curve.

My Audeze Maxwell's were delivered on Jun 12, 2023, I had already bought the Wicked Cushions for them so I never really used them with the normal ones. I love this headset and do recommend it to anyone looking for a high end headset. I would buy them again, I bought the PC/PS version. There have been a lot of firmware and software updates that keep making them better and better. I keep hearing Sony bought Audeze so I hope in the future they still release xbox versions of new headsets, but I only play on PC so it wouldn't affect me a lot.

Thank you, finally a product worth buying made for Gamers. I was getting sick of all the positive reviews for shitty headsets. Couple things to note: 1. There's a matte black version of the Maxwell's. For people that don't want the shiny, plastic look 2. The Xbox version is more expensive because Dolby licensing is incredibly expensive. It's also not necessary for 99% of use cases so just go with the Sony version if you're buying it for PC/Mobile use. 3. The Microphone is only limited by the Noise Suppression mode, If you turn off the processing on the audio, it sounds very decent, unfortunately this wasn't really accounted for all that much.

They sound great for both games and music! (The built-in EQs are amazing) Also, I've been using them without the boom mic attachment for gaming on Discord, no issues with sound quality on the beam forming mics at all! The noise cancellation on the mics work great too. My only minor gripe is its heavy at almost half a kilogram. You WILL feel it after a few hours of using it. Overall 9/10 highly recommended for anyone looking for wireless end-game quality headset for a fair price.

I actually bought some Wicked Cushions pads for my DT 770 Pros. They are pretty good! The cooling gel is kind of a useless gimmick. They do feel cool at first but the gel warms up so quickly the effect is basically gone within minutes. But they *are* more comfortable than the stock pads, the fabric feels nice and seems very durable. One thing I noticed though, right after putting them on my headphones sounded AWFUL. I was very disappointed. However, I guess they needed a little time to "settle in" properly because after like half an hour everything sounded great again and I never had that issue again after that :)

I had hoped you would critizise the more than crappy mic more. The technical abilities of this transmission chip and BLE audio allow for far better mic quality but they clearly decided to cheap out and instead implement noise suppression, a feature maybe pros at a lan really need. For this price, sure planar magnetic from Audeze (now Sony...) is great, but you cannot accept this level of microphone quality, especially if you consider that Antlion proofed many years before, that it is indeed possible to deliver perfect wireless mic sound. I hope you review the new Beyerdynamic MMX 200 soon (far superior mic) and give the Maxwell headset the hard slap it has earned! I was so hyped for the Maxwell, when the used chip was leaked and they underdelivered on a level i couldn't have ever imagine. A really good and fitting asset for Sonys gaming products.

@@KaNoMikoProductions Audeze Maxwell are easily the best sounding closed back headphones up until like 900usd, and the Aurorus Australis are so hard to find that Maxwell STILL remains super competitive well into the thousand usd price range, it's crazy how badly this reviewer does with audio products. At least he remembered how a Planar driver works this time, just wish they could get a decent headphone reviewer, this guy gives me HEAVY "musician who doesn't know what amazing equipment he has" vibes. Plus in what world is it acceptable to put an earpad sponsor on your headphone video? It HEAVILY suggests that the stock pads aren't amazing and might need wickedcushions to be better, especially when that couldn't be further from the truth, wickedcushions are one of the worst earpad makers out there. Dekoni and Brainwavz are the only moderately good 3rd party makers but headphone makers tune to their earpads and not 3rd party imitations with different materials, it'd be like making a home insulation video for the countries prepping for winter and happily advertising the worst insulation manufacturer that barely traps any heat in your house. Or making a "x budget PC" video with a sponsor from a big parts builder that is incredibly sub-optimal for the budget and only noticeable to the PC builders. If only LTT could listen to the audio communities who really want new members in their hobby instead of hiring one guy from one of the worst audio review sites out there and doing another terrible job

Acezone is suppose to be #1 for footsteps, ill be testing them out all weekend with CoD tomorrow. I think i will be trying the Turtle Beach Stealth Pros (cant believe those words came out of my mouth) TB has always been shit quality and made fun of for 15 years! But apparently TB is the #1 right now for Footsteps. I do really want to try the Maxwell, but the weight and Mic are huge let downs. I am excited, but expect to be disappointed of new Astro A40's and 50's FINALLY in January. But fullly expect Logitech to have ruined the company and they will probably be shit. I might also check out the Audeze MM-100, are a better version of the Maxwell and open back i beleive, so they are even better for gaming/footsteps

ive been using the maxwells(xbox version) for a few months. great headset. microphone is just ok. their software is pretty bad tho. There's been an open issue with their android app and xiaomi phones, ever since i got the headset. they know about it, but its still not been fixed. so if you have a xiaomi phone, the app thinks there is no headset connected. You can change presets etc on the headset itself with hardware buttons. but i need windows if i want to make my own EQs. I'm trying to be less reliant on having to use windows. the headset quality is great otherwise tho. im using it with a pair of brainwavz xl round(perforated) pads. works just fine and is a lot more comfortable than their stock pads. HD560s or the X2HR with a $50 usb condenser mic is a much better pick. Many cheap IEM choices that also work very well for gaming while providing even better frequency response, detail and imaging just losing out on soundstage size compared to open back headphones.

The 560s, At least to me is pretty decent for competitive gaming. For music listening I agree it was very analytical and not very enjoyable. @@GoldenSW I'm currently using the X2HR but with an EQ to reduce the mid bass bloat and add 2db below 50hz and it's a lot better than stock tuning. One of the few cheap open back headphones where the bass isn't anemic and has a nice soundstage size. Bass isn't the tightest and loses out on some detail and imaging compared to the hd560s but at least I can comfortably use them with my big ears unlike the 560s where the tips of my ears would press against the plastic hinge inside the cups. I also liked the tygr 300r but had 3 defective pairs in a row so gave up on them.
