Why was he driving around that night again? "Well I lost some guns about a year ago and I'm just driving around minutes after a horrible racist massacre just happened to see if I can find them...in case you find em well hell I lost those about a year ago." ...yea.

It gets worse than that. "Well I just happened to be searching for my long lost guns after hearing of the murder of my friends step-father in a bar!"

The Movie was fiction. There was no racist cop, there was no frame up. There was however, corroborative evidence (from both black and white witnesses) that put Carter and Artis at the scene, with Elwood Tuck and Eddie Rawls. Tuck and Rawls were probably the gunmen, as Eldridge Hawkins suggests.

He wasn't a great fighter. His career was 27-12. By 1965 his career was rapidly on the decline.

Thats because he is a real criminal. Theres a few people in Paterson that know who the real killers were. Hours before the Lafayette shooting, another bar nearby got shot up. The shooter was white and he killed the landlord who was black over a dispute over money. Lafayette shooting was a racially motivated act of revenge
