So sad about Andy Gill’s passing, but if there’s anyone that could fill his shoes David Pajo is the one.

Pajo sounds AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING!!! I was cautiously optimistic, but he inhabits those lines in a way that both pays tribute AND animates them anew for a fresh audience... lets hope the shows go wonderfully!!

I love Go4.Sara is a hero to me, as an old bassist I knew she had magic the first time I heard her.

This is the only footage I've ever seen of Sara Lee speaking. Someone must interview her about her experience in The League of Gentlemen.

Houston was a great show, and David Pajo really has injected a lot of his own sense of melody into Andy Gill's lines while doing right by them.

Biggest inspiration ever rhythmically. Highly rated. Justifiably so. If you play the drums, it teaches you the right relationship between bass and drums.

😂I saw them live in Chicago in the very early 80s I think it was. I didn't know what to expect, but it totally blew my circuits when Jon King came onto the stage from the left hand side, dancing like a dervish. Still one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Right up there with PiL and 999 and Husker Du. Chicago had a fantastic local punk/new wave scene. Many great bands up there back then, like Desmond and Club of Rome! 😅

I have been a long term Gang of Four fan going back to the late 1970's, first seeing them at a Leeds Poly gig, it was back when women were escorted back to were they lived because of a certain individual preying on women in the Yorkshire area. As well as the "classic" stuff I am a huge fan of the later stuff Andy did with Goaler, McNeice and Finnegan. When Andy died I though I'd probably never hear that stuff played live again but here we are. Manchester 4th October 2023 role on 🙂Most influential band of my life.

I feel though that in the last "x" number of years that the song is played significantly slower and less urgently. That the original at the pace it was originally played is still urgently felt for me after all these "x" number of years is surprising...

Putting Go4 back together (been a fan since 1979)… YES! But how about someone puts Premier Drums back together? I saw Hugo play these drums in Go4 in Pasadena at Perkins Palace. 1982. REM opened for them. Their 1979 Premiers with black wrap with a red stripe (custom ordered). The kick is a 20” - very rare for this kind of thing, but it sounds amazing live. Really thick. These drums are amazing. The company needs to be resuscitated. Someone. Please?!

I’m pretty sure he’s mixed race. Part Philippino, part hispanic, maybe a bit of Native American, if I remember correctly…? I think they mentioned it in Breadcrumb Trail, a documentary on the band Slint (of which Pajo was a member) so feel free to check it out if you’re curious

I'm sorry but I've listened to Gang of Four since the late 70s. I'm a musician my self I play the Chapman Stick and 7 string bass. I don't mean to come off as I'm bosting myself but I have a little experience with playing with musicians. This guitarist to me doesn't fit right with the true Gang of Four band. Saira Lee said that she feels like the band needs me that is very correct. But this guitarists is not the right one for the ture band. He plays very carefully Which the band therefor plays more carefully. This is not what Gang of Four set out to be. I would just like to say that unfortunately you should find another guitarists that can bring back the energy and magic of Andy Gill R I P

Danny, perhaps you've seen him with Gang of Four, although (respectfully) if you haven't, Dave Pajo is mesmerizing with the band. Stellar choice. Shame that the world has lost Andy Gill, on the bright side the rest of the lot have found a supremely gifted guitarist who's stepped up, slid that shoulder strap on, and owns the sound. And when he led 'Paralysed', I had the feeling that someone above approved.
