    These three albums.... Tooth & Nail, Under Lock and Key, and Back for the Attack. Absolute 80s metal masterpieces. Listening to them was like having twin vocalists. One using voice, the other on the guitar. Musical magic.

    George always had his act together. He never got stupid and messed up like other rockers of his generation. He takes care of himself and he's a brilliant, philosophical, together dude. We could all learn from him. And he still plays extremely well. A lot of players from his generation totally dropped the ball. George has always kept his chops up. Back in the 80s when I was a young shredder George was a massive influence on me and I always enjoyed his candor in interviews I'd read in the guitar mags. He was humble and honest about the pitfalls of the industry, how difficult a business it is, and how tricky it was to get just the right tone. I saw Dokken live many times in the 80s and every time George just got better. It was intimidating, but I've gotta say, hearing George play made me a far better player than I'd otherwise have been. I tried a lot harder than most players. If I play well, I give credit to George for inspiration. If I play bad, well, that's on me.

    I COUNTED 32 pick up selector changes on top of the amazing talented master musician craftsmanship. George lynch is my top few favorite guitarists. I bougjt a ticket to see Lynch Mob LAST YEAR In New Bedford MA waited a year for “rescheduled date” and then to only have my ticket money refunded and him to never show up ): honestly heart broken. I love Dokken and Lynch so much. I did buy my tickets to Yngwie Malmsteen and KIX for next month (august) so im excited for that. I got the meet and greet for kix and gunna have the whole band sign my new guitar i just got a few weeks ago. Totally stoked! Also saw lita ford and Queensryche and XYZ all in NB last year. I hope George Lynch considers coming back to do us right in New Bedford. And please mr Lynch play the hunter and kiss of death for meee please god knows how long ive waited to hear those songs live. Im 26 so i didnt have the privilege my 40 something year old parents had to see good music.

    Often the case with a lot of guys from the 70s and 80s who have a preference for Plexi style amps. They often rely on sheer volume (power amp distortion) to generate their sound. Hard to pull it off, but it gives a much more articulate sound rather than the buzzy sound of pre-amp distortion. You’ve got to work the vibrato hard to get the notes ringing out as George obviously does.

    Sinking Yes a lot of guys use high gain and delay to mask what they are doing. That adds a bit of polish which can disguise when playing isn’t terribly clean. Very loud Amps take a lot of controlling, they will feedback very quickly and are unkind to sloppy playing. When you plug in to a plexi that’s really loud for the first time it can be a bit demoralising. With practise you learn to mute and roll off volume to control feedback and noise.

    I saw Lynch at L'Amores in NY in the early 90's. I'll never forget that night.......….I got in early and was right at the front of the stage, the lights go out and people start cheering......George is still back stage and I guess checking his guitar.....everything is silent when...……………. BOOM............he hits an A chord that made the entire building shake!!! I felt as though my ribs just cracked! LOL I had just started playing guitar back then and I remember thinking that even if I don't get very good, I can always turn a Marshall 100 watt full stack on 10 and do that! I'll never forget the sound and power of that one chord!!!

What the f was he thinking when he put a covered Les Paul type pick up in that guitar? WTF?? Somebody take it, bust it up and give him his Kamikaze.

    The studio version of this song has one of my All-time favorite solos...this live version just doesn't hold up in my opinion. He's still incredibly gifted and and his playing is far beyond anything I'll ever play on my guitar...but I wish he would have tried to play the solo the he did on Under Lock and Key.

  • @timothyireson1076

    @timothyireson1076

    The studio version is also one of all time favourites but I have learned to appreciate George and how his "in the moment" ad libbing can also create a great, brand new solo. Each show is different which also gives each one it's 9wn identity. I saw them 3 nights in a row and each show was different. I find myself more curiously awaiting his solo parts for each song wondering what it will sound like this time. The only thing is that some shows are better than others. George plays what's on his mind at that moment in time and I think that's cool and it keeps him interested as well rather than playing the same old same old night after night... or "night by night"...lol. George is a jem no matter how you slice it. Glad you liked it. There's lots of Lynch on my channel that I recorded. If you don't care for one of them, look for the same song at another show. You'll never hear the same solo twice. I guarantee it.

    Reading lots of comments here on George "forgetting" the solo and "butchering it." I've gone back and listened to it a couple of times. Starts at about 3:30. As a long time guitar player, with okay chops and a good ear, I don't hear it. The recording isn't that great, but he plays a good solo and does not butcher it. Is it his best? Probably not, but it's clear to me he's still got the skill, ear and chops. George has a very unique way of playing which is why he's been a stand-out for so long.
