"This is a farewell song for the warriors from their parents. Back in the days when Mongol warriors went to war, their parents would share their wisdom with them and wish for a safe return. When you listen to the song, you’ll hear in the distance the sound of a horse trotting, as the soldiers used to leave their homes for war with their horses."
Powerful and pure medicine with no negative side effects, thanks to The HU. Light shine on you always.

What made me admire of their songs is how proud the mongols being Mongolian. Deeply attached with their culture and their roots. That is what music is for. Yes I'm a Malaysian by the way, and great job Hu Band!!!
My fave reminds me of riding my horses!!! 🐎
I hope this song never changes I will loose my mind.

It is a song about parents sending their son off into a foreign land. It is filled with wisdom but also our calling as parents to let them go.
As Mongolians, we grow up being "shireg'ged" as kids to soothe us from nightmares and foul spirits by facing their embodiment as a silhouette formed of a few drops of melted candle wax when dipped into a bowl of water. This, in the context of now old parents bidding farewell while enveloping caressing message to their already grown up son on horseback for a mission to a land of far away, makes me feel rather uneasy. How childish and immature I may always have been to my ageing parents despite trying to disguise these recurring salt and pepper locks? Really uneasy tune in a calm note. Thanks The Hu for making me think a lot more than twice, and lots of love mom & dad!

while still showing how different "Comfort" is in different cultures--like, if I close my eyes and just grok the song, it's a lullaby to my own kids. But if I try to imagine singing it to my white-ass baby brother 15 years ago, it just doesn't work.
This speaks to something deep in my soul I left forgotten until today.

I’m crying too
Shireg (ᠰᠢᠷᠢᠭᠢ) is kind of "magical" word used during ritual we Mongolians do when baby child get afraid of something. When babies afraid of something and can't tell their parents, only fathers allowed do this "ritual", for find culprit and "kill" it, for make sure it's no longer threat for them. There are some variations, sometimes, they throw salt into fire. But mostly they use candle (In ancient times, when there was no candle, they used copper). Fathers melt candle into candle oil (or it called wax?) on furnace. While mother or someone holding baby, father put oil into spoon or something, and circle it clockwise, 3 times over their baby, tells "shireg shireg", along with other blessing words like in this song. Then they pour candle oil into cup of water, and I don't know how it works, but figure/shape of culprit (things which made baby afraid) appears exactly on water made by oil itself within few seconds. Human beings, animals, stuffed toys, lego, furnitures, shadow, or even cloud, it can be any thing. Fathers show it to babies and tell them, he throwing it away, do not afraid any more. Then he breaks shape in front of babies eye, then throws it away. Wonderfully it works and baby sleep well. As a grown up, modern day, science man, I do not believe such "fairy tales", never gave serious thoughts before. Then few years back, I became a father myself. Meantime I had no idea how to execute this "Shireg" thing. After some nights of my baby's cry, I forced learn about "shireg" from other "previous" fathers. It worked on my first try! Instant moment I see shape, I got goosebumps like a hedgehog! It was exact shape of friend's dog visited us earlier, staring at me as he was staring at my son. I felt like seeing through by my baby son's eye. And everytime I do it, it never failed to calm my baby. Forgive my English. That’s Mongolian music. They always tries to mimic animal sound through their throat sing and in playing instruments to tune in with nature. For example their Morin Khuur also called the horse fiddle because it be can sound like a horse.

It's the metal back-ground that translates language. Saw a vid of a local group from NZ rocking metal in Maori at a gig in Europe and the crowd knew the lyrics. One world one day..
I think that living in modern times, we forget how powerful nature, art and belief is a thread that combines us to our ancestors. It is foolish to think we have 'out smarted' our past with modern technology because our past is forever linked to us. We should cherish it. This is so beautiful and reminds me of my Brazilian culture and how our family links the importance of our ancestry into our present. It remind me to never forget and honor those who came before us. They laid the path we follow.
