Only reason I skipped the video is that it’s a “cover” of a song I know.

I am shocked nobody seems to grasp that the man was born into a paradise. Then he discovered gold and destroyed paradise searching for it. And in the end he is bringing a hand full of water to a plant to renew paradise.

This version of this song is honestly amazing! I hope The Hu sticks with this heavier sound

We need more mongolica

The song is about being your own worst enemy in this particular version it about man having every he ever wanted but his insatiable greed made him want more and in the end all he had was gone and when got reincarnated he was left in a world of nothing but a little piece of green that he cherish and nutures cause if it dies he will have nothing and it'll be his fault

The instruments each reflect an element, and each person has their "colors" -- earth, wind, fire, water....and they both match.

You know it is really good when you see Maggie's mouth hanging open for most of the video.

You mentioned video games. They have a version of their song "Sugaan Essena" they did for EA's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game. Right now it probably is tied with "The Great Chinggis Khaan" as my favorite of their songs.

Sugaan Essena is awesome. They originally wrote the song in Mongolian, and it's called Black Thunder. They then worked with the Star Wars guys to translate it into an alien language for the game. The only copies of Black Thunder are live bootlegs, but I think a studio cut is going to show up sometime this year.

'Shooketh' literally sums up how I felt watching this. Your and my reaction were the same when I first saw this. Absolutely wonderful choice!

🌩️To chose a thunderstorm icon for this video was definitely on spot! That brutal, heavy beat feels like the Khan's Chosen Horseguards have just overriden you and now the world is only pain with every breathtake and heartbeat, while staring into the clouds .. 😯 Man, they are GOOD! metallica sad but true is one of my favorite songs of all time but these guys killed it. they took an already epic song and made it even more amazing.

He destroys Eden in the name of his greed. And in the end, his greed was meaningless because, in spite of all the gold, he dies anyway. And then the cycle starts again with the baby. And only too late does he see the devastation he has wrought and tries in vain to repair the damage. Great video. Maggie, you said they should make this the sound track to video games. The Hu has a song in the sound track of Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order. Sugaan Essena is the title, you should check it out.

I love that video showing the greed of man and how he didn't realize he was destroying paradise until it was too late.

I've always loved that song and they did a fantastic job!🌩️

Once again, throat singing makes everything better... I'm a huge Metallica fan (pre-1992), in fact this was the first album I ever requested. But this version is so much better.

I first came across the Hu while doing research on talgaharpa building and how to play them.

I didn't hear that comment about movie/video games in the stream but The Hu has done a video game song for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, commissioned by EA, written in Mongolian then translated into a made up language that now exists in the Star wars universe. The song is called Suugaan Essena, I'll put it as a reaction request some time soon.

This is a very cool cover, although I did not understand a word. And I like throat singing very much. There is a good Russian band from Tuva (a region close to Mongolia) called Hartyga (Хартыга). These guys also use throat singing and partly Tuvan music instruments along with guitars, saxophones etc. Their debut album is great.

This band is taking over Maggie hu hu ✊✊✊ the best band from another country hands down the night has spoken lights out darkness falls ⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️

For starters I want to say that I really enjoyed the video and reaction! You just had me really questioning myself when at one point your expression stayed the same for what felt like a long time and I was actually trying to figure out if the video had frozen. But then I stupidly realized that the music screen was still moving so it couldn’t be frozen!

Great reaction Maggie! Thanks for continuing to watch and react to great stuff for us. This one is much newer - which is most of the view count discrepancy. It's also a cover. I'd love to ask too, as a Romani man, to try not to use the word "gypped" - the word derives from "gypsy" and many of us consider both a slur.

Everything about them is about returning to simpler, tougher times. Yuve Yuve Yu sings about how modern life has made them soft and rudderless, Wolf Totem is about becoming modern versions of their ancestors, This one is about how living for greed ends up destroying you

Oh man you should watch yuve yuve yu. It's the first song I saw of theirs and it's amazing. They also did a song for the star wars game that came out in like 2019 in a made up language even.

So..! THIS is where Denis Villneuve got his inspiration for the Sardukaur in His adaptation of Dune! Rather fitting if you think about it - a group that can, quite literally, sing a song that induces bowel-shattering awe and terror, serving as inspiration for a group of soldier/fanatics that are JUST as awe & terror inspiring as The Sardukaur. (Though I suspect Herbert's Sardukar are far, FAR less terrifying than the Mongol Horde, so..? yeah...) And yes - this well past Epic!

The acoustic version of Shireg Shireg by the Hu remains one of the best pieces of music I can imagine.

They've got a "unplugged" live song of their more traditional stuff which is spectacular! Just search for "Jason Ellis - Mongolian Throat Singing". It really showcases the throat singing. Just make sure to listen right to the end.

What I take from just the cinematics is its story about mining out of greed destroying eden...and the man carrying the handful of water is humankinds feeble attempt to rebuild it....sad...but true.

As for why their Sad But True cover has so many fewer views? Simple answer is probably the correct one, this video only came out last December, the other videos have been around for a couple of years now.

The shaman has three arms and a wing because of crying, a candle lights up from his breath...
