This is one of the greatest folk rock songs ever written and it’s a shame not many people know this one and the song is not played enough by the hooters at their live concerts

I saw The Hooters live in August 1989 at Great Woods Ampitheatre in Massachusetts. They were touring in support of their Zig Zag LP and were the opening act for Stevie Nicks who was touring for her The Other Side Of The Mirror LP. They performed with so much energy-they didn't act like rock stars at all. I love these guys. Best concert I have ever seen. I will never forget it.

I love the least and they are first anyway in my book. Living on the ground can be hard, but a lot of it comes down to character. I have been up and I have been down, I try to keep my Faith and Trust in GOD. I only gave my life to HIM 2 years ago at 64, some of us are slow learners. LOVE GOD and each other, like Jesus said.

Thanks again for your music n effort. Im just an inconspicuous Aussie male doin his own thing in his religious faith, for God n family n hit hard personal times as i started to awaken and this song, amongst the others i listened to every morning while homeless. I just couldnt keep anyone safe n my own safety seemed doubtful right the way through. I think of you guys,Doc Neeson n crew n some others n i think of lifesavers. Thankyou very very much, love livin n live large, Elam

Much of the best music in the late 70s and the 80s was a push-back/warning about the rather selfish direction society & politics had taken, especially in the USA, Canada, and the UK. In all three of those nations, politicians regularly vilified the poor, homeless, single parents, etc., promoted insecurity & fear, and celebrated avarice & greed. Once society had finished drinking their koolaid, large cuts were made to health care, social assistance, disability income, education, and other services that benefited the lowest classes & the working class. In response, these sorts of songs did much to legitimize the efforts of many people to fight the increasing individualism, judgementalism, and materialism during that time, and eventually people began to look at the needs of the poor, unemployed, and vulnerable more seriously. Obviously there are parallels to the trends in this decade, especially in the USA. However, this time around, virtually all television & radio is controlled by corporate interests, so these sorts of 'wakeup!' or 'protest' tunes are rarely heard in the mainstream media. This is something that should have us all worried! Ok...rant over.... :)

No apologies needed for your rant. You said a lot of things that need to be said. I held out hope that our current political mess would result in great comedy and great music. I am still waiting on the great music - I am sure it's out there, but it isn't going to be easy to find. Every time I listen to the news, I think of "Guns of Brixton," "The Lunatics Have Taken Over the Asylum," "Banana Republic," and "Clampdown." These songs were reactions to politics in and around the Thatcher era (which now seem warm and compassionate by contrast to what we have in the U.S. today). The current generation needs to produce angry songs like those. "Brother Don't You Walk Away" is one of many great songs by a great (though unfortunately named) band!

I feel bad for the (cool) Youth of the 1980s. who didn’t have many life opportunities and were homeless on the street / in poor housing. Pretty much present currently too - just not filmed in such a “nice” and nostalgic way with a fantastic song and GREAT MUSICIANS !!!! Most “punks” who “spend time” outside / meet outside are on the verge of homelessness :-( I feel bad for them.

Thanks heaps n sorry it's so far out now that I sound grandiose. Only sense of that's my gratitude I best get of the Burning bush thingy King regards

2:11 person wearing a GnR t-shirt. Legend. To the song, it definitely resonates a message of poverty, that in so many ways, can be better managed by governments. Rather than in their quests for political distortion.

HA!! The main vocalist of the Hooters was FINE looking !!!!!!!!! Too bad that this video pictures the homeless youth of most likely the San Francisco streets. They’re not having fun nor being “cool” - they’re living on the streets 😞. The 1980s. filmed seem nostalgic - but this particular situation isn’t very optimistic. Nonetheless the VOCALIST is super cute !! And it’s sweet that the Hooters play the accordion 🪗, a flute, they’re unique !! I love the Hooters !!! 💕 ❤️
