The Honda Fit Is Too Good For Us - Review & Test Drive

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I review and test drive a first generation Honda Fit, which is one of the best compact hatchbacks for sale! The amazing practicality of it gives it an edge over other cars in its class, and it has VTEC!

@@LiamDrives They redesigned the Fit/Jazz in 2020, but didn't release that Gen4 in the US. Instead, we got a final year of the Gen3 then gone. Your video really nailed why I love my 2019 Fit. That 28.5 horsepower engine has a lot of pep! The clutch engages smoothly but I miss the more abrupt grab on older Hondas. Lily's comment about the fuel efficiency is dead on, too. I average 40mpg (5.9 l/100km) in mostly highway driving. I recently started actually trying to save fuel, and get 43.5mpg. Such a lovely car, I think the best hatchback in the US. One of the few that offered stick shift in a family car. Even my local dealer said they still get customers looking for the Fit. What a shame that Honda dropped that segment of the US market.

Owned mine for six months now , its a Honda Jazz here in the Uk. Blown away what a amazing little car it is . its so versatile , the Swiss Army knife of the car world. Economical , fun to drive , small enough to park anywhere but deceptively big on the inside. Great vision with the glass while driving. It was a car I would never have considered prior to owning now but purchased from a old guy who gave up driving. Its a 3 rd car in the family household but everyone loves it . Would not part with it now .

My wife bought a 2017 new. It's an amazing car, great gas saver and it has this powerful engine with 130 hp! Sadly, She got the CVT option because MT is a beast and more fun to drive. The car has 60k Miles (95k kms) and feels and looks brand new. She's thinking on getting a new car in 1-2 years but She's not gonna sell it, She's gonna pass it to our daughter who's going to college in 2 years. There're a lot of people who wanna buy her this great car, considering that She takes excellent care of that car and I polish and wax it myself. Now that Honda doesn't make the Fit anymore, makes it more valuable.

You did a great job of explaining the Honda Fit. I just bought a 2008 Honda Fit and I love it. I got 36.5 mpg driving it home from the seller's place at 75 mph with the windows rolled down (A/C doesn't work and it was not ordered with cruise control). I want to use it as a parts runner to haul engines and transmissions from chevy silverado pickups. The hatch door is 3 ft wide at the bottom. 3.5 ft wide in the middle. 3 feet wide at the top. This thing has good power for such a little engine. I test drove a brand new 2019 Yaris and this car blew the doors off it. The Yaris is gutless and I don't think I would be happy owning one.

I am in CA, and gas prices in my area are close to 7.00 Dls. I do deliveries, I have had this car for a year now, well in another week lol. This car it's been a blessing, although I'm paying 20.00 dollars above from a year ago, the tank gets full with a 65.00 average when at the E level, despite all this crap, and the fact that I use it for deliveries all week, the full tank last me the entire week, I can fit 80-90 extra-large pizzas for school lunch and this little one handles the weight, the space, even runs with no hesitation at all, accelerating as if there is no load. This little car is literally a BEAST. This is the best money I ever invested in a car without a doubt. I am super glad for this Honda!

Have an 05 GD1 (Japanese import 1.3 iDSI) with the CVT. It now has 130,000 kilometres. Common faults are the rubber bushes in the strut tops wearing out and knocking, stabiliser end links knocking, sealant in the top rear roof cracking and letting rain water into the spare wheel well, if CVT, starter clutch burning out and vibrating on take off, dash bulbs burning out, or needing a tap/thump to bring them back on. The paint on the wing mirror bases gets blown off with water pressure (see so many gen1 fits/jazzes around without paint lol. But at 17.5k/l and room for 4 large people, I can't complain 😁 I am suprised you didn't lower the back seat into the floor before pushing the front seat forward and reclining the back, makes the whole floor flat-ish throughout the car.

Just got a Fit as my first real car (excluding the Grand Caravan I bought off my mum in school) and I'm super satisfied. I drive 45 miles to work currently... And I average ~40 MPG on a standard trip (mostly highway) and that's the best part imo. I also play in a band so I need to transport lots of gear and the space is honestly kinda comparable to the Grand Caravan I used to drive but it handles SOOOOO much better. The only downsides I've noticed is there's no way to rest your right elbow if you tend to hold the wheel with your right arm. The dashboard indicator on my Fit acts up (as I've seen MANY people have this problem with every generation of the Fit.) in that the odometer/fuel gauge/current MPG display doesn't turn on until you've been driving for almsot 20 minutes. I've heard people have fixed this by soldering wires or by getting the whole display replaced, but it is quite a detriment when it doesn't turn on. The visibility is great though, there's hardly no blind-spot, and the right-side mirror has a camera that you can easily activate by turning on your right-turn blinker OR by pressing the button on the tip of the doo-hickey (that controls your lights/blinker) on the left side of the steering wheel. This camera gives great info and makes merging much safer (at least on the right side) and easier. As for the left side mirror, there is no camera, but the mirror has a curved bit towards the left-most side that allows you to see more of your blindspot. The handling is also pretty great, it can accelerate quite fast and is capable of some crazy speeds, even though I haven't tried taking it to it's limits, it can easily do 100 MPH. The low nature of the car makes it easy to take sharp turns, but it also makes you "feel the road" a lot more. By that I mean this is NOT a smooth ride. you WILL feel potholes and bumps much more than in most other cars, but honestly that doesn't bother me too much as it notifies me moreso when I'm driving on a shitty patch of road. If you live in NJ (or some other place with terrible roads) then you might not want this because those roads are abysmal. Otherwise, this is a SOLID car. I got mine w/ ~60k miles, regularly serviced, with only one previous owner for '15k'. So far I think it was a damn good deal. Don't take my word too much as this is the first car-car I've driven (non-SUV/van/truck) but this thing is great.

I took a couple of these for test drives before i purchased my toyota echo i really like them.....but i ended up going toyota because of the deal..... 2100 CAD an it only had 83k but in terms of reliability I think they're about the same I've seen Honda fits for sale with really high mileage

It is certainly roomier than my 2002 Toyota Corolla hatchback. I'm thinking this even has a bigger boot than my Corolla. But the Corolla front seats are more comfortable and the engine has more HP, so the Corolla is quicker thanks to it's larger engine.

Look, I love my 08 fit, but the seats are anything but supportive. And the driving position suuuuucks. I've put around 120k on mine and I've tried sooo many ways to improve the driving position and support issues. Ultimately I keep it around because of its practicality, but I hate it for long drives.

The honda is definitely more fun. The honda has more power and better handling. its plenty of fun stock if you dont mind slow cars. With just better wheels and tires you can have a really fun car that also looks really good.

Sadly Honda decided we can't have the fit in USA. I've wanted one for years. Two mistakes they made. Jazz would have been a catchier name and the exterior styling screamed econo box, although I liked it just fine. It seems there was little advertising also.

I am in the market to buy a used vehicle that is reliable and I am very interested in getting a Honda Fit in this comment section what would be the best years of this vehicle to own? Because I have seen some really good ones for 2015 and 2016 and I'm really considering and buying one of those.

Last year after my Civic Si was stolen, I looked for about a month trying to find a car while using a rental. Ended up with a 2011 Fit Sport. Car drives great but is just ass-ugly, too slow, and the size of the windshield is atrocious. Makes me want another Civic Si ASAP.

I absolutely love my '12 GE8. Im 6'4" and am fairly comfortable to drive. I don't know if I'd be comfortable driving a 5 speed though. And yes, I can also sleep well and also with my girlfriend. Air mattress works amazing! Its the 2nd best car I've owned in my 35 years of driving. The '05 Corolla S with ton's of TRD part's is definitely #1. I'm a Honda dude but can honestly say Toyota is better.
