So long ago, I wish i found this then. You have given the reverence to this series that it deserves.. The only thing I wish was different was that it was done in order.. The Hobbit, then the 3 books from the lord of the rings.. I read them all, in order, in 1975, 4 times, and I still know them by heart. So you know I am the biggest critic of this undertaking that there ever could be. And I found it MOST EXCELLENT!!!! From the actors, to the setting, to the sound. Well done all of you.

I remember watching all of these back in the day, and feeling so anxious about them as well for the movie themselves. This trilogy gets a lot of hate in comparison to TLOR and I don't think it deserves it. Watching these vlogs you can clearly see the amount of love and effort that Peter Jackson put on them as much as he did with TLOR. He is a man with a passion for these stories. THE HOBBIT were fun to watch and still are, yes they had somethings that should have left in the cutting room, but they don't affect the story and the overall lore of the world created by Tolkien. Funny enough i'm coming back here after Amazon released their series (not watching it, not got hooked up with it), and what that series is doing is making people go back to THE LORD OF THE RINGS and THE HOBBIT and finding out they rather go and watch these movies than the tv series. Also is making new audiences discover these films and realizing they've been missing so much. And even with it's flaws, THE HOBBIT stands out as a better piece of entertainment than the series would ever be.

Do what Andy Serkis did. Come in, work your arse off, pour your blood and sweat, literally and you'll be recognized.

Just sit at home and watch porn.
Wow...so much work. Even on vacation. And yet there are tons of bad reviews. Maybe they've changed a lot from the books but for me, its the best movie series I've watched. Hope to see another one in the future. Thank you sir!
Just love these vlogs I've watched them several times over and still get so pumped about these movies LOVE IT!!!!
Hello from Italy..Thankyou for posting these vlogs! Thankyou for bringing the Tolkien world to life..I Wish if i could be part of It All. Magical. Well done.
Ian Mckellen, what a professional! Taking a break in the middle of Hobbit movies and immediately goes to do a play while everyone else is planning holidays...
3:36 he seems so nice and kind!
I mean, going to all of those locations to scout looks like a dream
Andy Serkis is such a talent!
This makes me wish all over again that I could go to New Zealand...
Trust Kiwi's to use rugby fields as a standard unit of measurement. Haha!
THANK YOU Peter and fellows... its the best!
Among all of the production diaries, this one is my favorite. From start to finish I find it so relaxing and fascinating to watch.
At 9:11 Peter Jackson checks if a branch is a "Floater". Now I'm wondering if the line "Well, that's lovely, that is. A floater." in the movie is an inside joke...
Andy's reaction to "Just give us a good battle" was hilarious. He looked so overwhelmed - 1:29
wow this production diaries are so amazing !! keep it up ! love watching them!
wow, this is just amazing, cant wait for this, i saw the trailer at the imax theater and it blew my mind
As a film maker, it's always a blessing to stay in somewhere like New Zealand. I live in Scotland and we have some gorgeous sights on our doorstep, will be using as much as we can in our next movie! Can't wait for The Hobbit, just hope the manage to keep Smaug under wraps until the cinema
oh man i just found ur channel today and tell u what. now i really want to work in a film studio
these are the most amazing behind-the-scenes clips i've ever seen.
New Zealand
I was wondering what kind of tea Peter drinks, he got his cup in almost every scene. :-) Maybe that tea will help us to become as creative and amazing as he is! :-)
This is great! Thank you Sir!
5 choppers in the air to scour location and survey the landscape... this production is/was out of this world, no wonder the sceneries were stunning in the movie
I understand and agree completely. I can honestly say I have probably watched the LOTR behind the scenes dvd's more than the movies themselves. Film making is truly the greatest form of artistic and creative collaboration. The passion these people have for their work and each other is incredible and I would have done anything to be a part of it. I want to be a film maker more than anything now.
All LOTR & Hobbit movies are genius, I can literally watch them again and again and always find something new everytime as if its the first time I've seen them
I wish the production diaries were longer. I've watched part one, this one is part two, and I still have some more to go. Heh, that's about an hour when I get to diary #6, but I still wish this was on television.
I never thought Peter Jackson was such a Down to Earth person, he's so nice... :3
So beautiful!
the music makes my heart fill with joy.
Thats one amazing glorious movie i have ever seen in my life!! Thank you Peter!!
Makes me appreciate living here so much more :)
so magical! :D
It must be so very satisfying to find the perfect location for a scene. And what incredible landscapes they have to choose from in NZ.
Anyone watching in lockdown?

If Peter Jackson would do the movies, then it would work out okay. Please, Peter, think about taking on "Eragon". But with Garrett Hedlund as Murtagh. He was perfect for the role in the one movie they produced.
What an incredible job to have been a part of.
I wish I could just hang out with Peter for like 6 months and just be mentored
Loving these insights
I love the location sooooooo much that I'm thinking I must going there someday!!!!
Awesome work Peter!
Magic even behind the movie...
I love how the Kiwis measure space in rugby fields
Surprising how well the LOTR music fits the footage of the helicopters! :o
peter. the coolest director ever.
You are good with management... 👏
❤️ Sir Peter
Andy serkis has risen the ranks and taken alot of peter jackson’s old responsibilities.
been waiting 5 years
Finally I understand why the budget of AAA movies are as big as they are... This is inspiring
My sister just got back from studying abroad in New Zealand and got to see Hobbiton and a few other sets. I'm still jealous.
Incredible
What a beautiful & pristine nature new zealand has 😭😍
i wish behind the scenes of a movie would change my life
Peter Jackson and his white mug, a new trilogy.
i agree with you, as i saw the bts on the lotr, the story between the film crew and the great way of just being a family touched me more than the movie itself, even cried when the bts was over :/
A lot of work, money, time a.s.o. but at least, one of the best movies ever!!!
i love my country. So beautiful
I've seen it and it was an amazing movie ;-)
wow.. just awesome..
10 years? Time flys...
3:27 So that's why the Doctor is so obsessed with Barcelona at the beginning of New Who. He's actually been there.
Wow. It really must have been great to be a part of this.
