The History of Quakers in Newcastle, a talk by Margaret Bozic.

Ойын-сауық

The Religious Society of Friends was established by George Fox in 1652. The movement spread very quickly and arrived in Tyneside only two years later. At first they were not welcome in Newcastle and so held their meetings in Gateshead. But by the end of the seventeenth century they were able to worship in Newcastle and built their first Meeting House on Pilgrim Street.
The Lit & Phil Library is Newcastle’s exquisite secret library, open to all and free to explore and browse. This is one of a growing series of free online talks all of which are available here in the Lit & Phil's KZread channel.
Although the talks are free to view, contributions and donations both large and small are very welcome! There are lots of ways to support the Lit & Phil and help ensure the beautiful old Library continues to inspire minds, stimulate imaginations and confer a wealth of knowledge to young and old alike for years to come - whether by becoming a Member, sponsoring a book or simply making a donation.
