I remember seeing this at the mall way back in the 90's and my mind was blown. I remember being in awe of how dark the tone was, and the mystery of the new characters and new levels. No internet so you just had to hang around and watch people play, and read up on your EGM/Gamepro, etc.

And the graphical filters may differ only a lightly from the arcade but replicates it extremely well! Of course it isn’t going to feel like a properly built arcade cabinet as they are classed as a toy and are made for a wider demographic, I can sense that you may be an arcade purist meaning that you may not get on with it well and are used to having more solid controls, which is fair! But it’s great value for what it is and was fun to build and to play in the comfort of my own home!

It was just a standard sound albeit used for all males but it wasnt a big deal. I feel like it must be either trying to sanitize, or they simply tried to add too much stuff with limited memory and it all suffered because of it. There did seem like a trend where they sanitized the series, but the most recent console versions (like 10 and the latest 11) have some serious gore in them. The combat engine is also greatly improved. They're a treat for oldschool MK fans.

Being in elementary school and running to the local arcade to have a shot at the MK2 arcade unit first. The crowds that would gather around you to get the first glimpses of the moves and hear the stories of what goes on in the game from those that beat it was electric. The graphics and the sounds put everyone over the moon. Arcades really had the upper hand being the ultimate version of your favorite games. Glad I lived it. The PS1 put out graphics that started killing the arcades then Dreamcast, game over.

Excellent video Pat! Love me some classic old school Mortal Kombat. I have three ports of Mortal Kombat II in my collection, for the Mega Drive, SNES and Sega Saturn. The game is just an all time classic.

Thank you, out of all the home consoles the super Nintendo version is my favorite. Overall though, you just can't beat the MS-DOS version:-)

Love this. His information is so accurate and alot of our youth don't know the history of such a historic game. Way better that SF in my opinion
