The History of Los Arcos Mall in Scottsdale AZ

Los Arcos Mall was an enclosed shopping mall on the southeast corner of Scottsdale and McDowell roads in Scottsdale, Arizona. The mall, which operated from 1969 to 1999, featured a Spanish architectural motif and took its name from "The Arches" in Spanish.[2] In the 1990s, the mall lost shoppers and both of its anchors, particularly to the Scottsdale Fashion Square center, which was closer to population growth in the city. The last anchor, Sears, left Los Arcos for Fashion Square in February 1999.

Lived in Scottsdale 1971-72, used to go there all the time😊
The neighborhood mall of my youth. 20 years of memories there. The Galleria sign in front of the Sears sign was for a little hallway that had a cool knife shop and always wreaked of acrylic chemicals from the nail salon that was also in there. My aunt met her husband when they both worked at that Sears. I saw Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure in the underground theater and wasted many quarters at the "Superfun" arcade that was halfway down the stairs. It never occurred to me that one day it would be gone. Red Robin hung on till there lease was up. They were on a corner with a separate entrance and still did good business when the rest was fenced off.
It was a wonderful place in its day
