I wouldn't say Bullock's ever closed. Macy's owned them for quite a while before. Both Bullock's and Macy's credit cards were accepted. After some time, they finally renamed it Macy's. I remember this as I saw workers in the mall working on the front signage. The store didn't close during the work. If they closed the store for a day just to do final work on some interior stuff, I wouldn't count that as the store closing. It's a renaming but the same store, same employees.
@echang19769 сағат бұрын
Well, I've had this discussion with others before, but the simple fact is that Bullocks name ceases to exist. I loved shopping at Robinson's May and when Macy's took over, everything changed. It wasn't the same and I stopped going. Service, policies and even selection changed and everything that I liked about Robinson's May disappeared. So I can't really say that Robinson's May never closed. Right?

Thank you for the video. This was the mall I went to as a kid, in the mid 70’s. I remembered a few things from the video, but I guess I wasn’t paying that much attention to the architecture as a child. I remember it being a huge mall! Very informative video, and I got the quiz question right. 😊

I used to work in that part of Corona, over at 1801 Railroad Street from October 1997 to January 2002. The intersection of Lincoln and Rincon was a 4 way stop sign back then. The Corona Side of the Santa Ana River is not the only part of my daily commute to work from Fontana that has changed from back then. All of the developments between Hamner and Etiwanda Avenues, between the CA-60 and the Santa Ana River took off after I stopped working in Corona.

Thank you! When I moved down to Anaheim with my parents we lived in the Oakwood Apartments on Broadway and Brookhurst until my parents home in Anaheim Hills was finished being built. So, that was our go-to mall. I loved the Robinson's. The mall itself was nothing spectacular. I went back to that area after I graduated college and was shocked by the change. The change of the mall and the area in general. Now The Main Place has lost all of its tenants that they stole from Anaheim, lol.

I worked at Florsheim's in 1985 with Joe and Damos. Met April through Joe's girlfriend, Heather. April was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I was way intimidated by her but she was down to earth and sweet. In 1987 I worked at Walden books which was a better fit. I stayed there till I got hired by the school district. I preferred The Central City Mall but the documentary was right about gangs ruining a good thing. A bunch of little dicks who are only tough in groups. My favorite was Wyatt's Cafeteria. And you could get beer at The Gingerbread House. I don't miss San Bernardino, but I do miss the 70's and the 80's........

You neglected on HUGE horrible event that happened at the Plaza Pasadena that many say started the downfall of this mall. On October 18th, 1988 , a family friend Lois Purnell - Haro was leaving the mall / JC Penney going down the escalator to the underground parking. That night, she was followed down the escalators by 3 men who ended up kidnapping her, taking her car with her with it from the mall. They robbed her, raped and beaten her and left her to die under the Colorado St bridge. The men were caught and sentenced and the mall was sued by the family. This precipitated a change in the parking, and adding of security but the stigma never left the mall. The developers admitted that the parking design was faulty and that they did not have enough security , phones or cameras on the property.

The reason it's called the plaza is because of the plazas that were along Birch St. Back in the day. The original area the mall was built was potentially an attractive place and had it been modernized, it could have been today. The new trend would be an open-air promenade. 2 examples in my area would be the Sparks, NV Outlet and the way they've redone Carson City.
