What a non-argument for ZZZ. Controls are simple, and executing these aren't complicated by any means, especially compared to other genres (fighting games, MMORPG). Understanding how these techs improve your gameplay, learning to execute, and knowing when utilize, that gives it depth. Shallow is if you mash buttons and get very similar outcome. Point is, if you mash, you may see some flashy moves and beat the enemy in 10 mins, and if you enjoy that, good for you. If you master the tech, you're gonna keep cutting that time in half (the multipliers for good setups and correct rotations are insane), and I believe you'll have a much more enjoyable time. Lastly, I would appreciate if you can make your criticism more concrete. Your comment feels like my essays when I was in HS, when I didn't know the answer, so I just say random stuff about the topic. You seem to be implying that ZZZ has no depth, but that's about it.

The difference is that DMC has a *lot* of moves and complex mechanical depth to work with right off the bat and it's all player-agency based. ZZZ is really homogenized and rewards you way too much for perfect dodge/parry QTE mechanics, which can make the combat flow feel a bit like EVERYONE is playing Royal Guard all the time. I think ZZZ's combat is better than people think once the game gets tougher, especially when you can switch characters at any time in order to reduce the delay of animations, which is really fun and unique. But it feels sometimes like you have to fight against the game's mechanics to do anything really expressive with the combat.

I think i like games like monster hunter and dmc 5 more cause theres a lot to learn. With these few characters you can get its a issue because the characters dont have much going on with them. Like each character has one thing unique to them when these other games let you swap to more and less complex characters/weapons with a ton of unique moves and combos. I mean just as fact the complexity of other games in its same type just have way more. If we compare to other hoyoverse games yeah okay it has a little more. I mean hey if you wanna blame it on tiktok mind then I guess I have played several games for hours in a row and daily so there goes that.

I hope we see more W-engines and even drive disc set bonuses that require skillful play to activate, kinda like Nekomiya's sig engine with bonuses for back attacks. I think that's an easy and smart way to pressure players to learn the mechanics, and more importantly it prevents people from being able to mash through everything just by min-maxing their gear. Give people gear that makes them more powerful, but only if they earn the buffs by actually playing well.

That's my favorite type of game, seriously. I'm not exaggerating. I don't think there's a name for it but "game where you have to discover a large portion of its mechanics with little or no hints" should be a genre because I absolutely LOVE those games. They force you to think and I love that. Rain World, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, a LOT of metroidvanias, even freaking Wobbledogs all fit into this genre and I love all those games. They're addictive. There's so much variety in how the games are played, and yet they all scratch the same itch. They all make you feel like a genius.

Good to see a lot of people sharing tips! Here's one for Soldier 11 if you guys don't know already: Using her EX skill and Ultimate gives Soldier 11 10-15 seconds/8 attacks that are buffed by Fire Suppression. If you're able to link her into tag-ins, build energy well and utilize her EX skill and ultimate during the DPS window, you can bypass the timing requirement for her basic attacks and maximize Fire Suppression. We're just a week in and I'm excited to see what else the game has to offer. While I'm all for defending what it could be, constructive feedback is good too. Adding more HP to enemies on later stages and taking x amount of minutes more to beat them with the same pattern is hardly depth, and I hope there's more to it than that.

They really do need to do an update on the character moves tab. I didn't know about Nicole's 360 moves, but ive been abusing the hell out of the quick assist with her and anby. Speaking of which, they don't bring up that Nicole's ex special just nopes enemy attacks and forces them into hit stun or that anby has a longer combo by using her attack x3, ex special then following up with another attack after she lands will make her unleash a thunderbolt right after. Cant wait a week from now there's gonna be a compiled list of each characters full move list. Itll go from "button mashing" to some of the most off the wall timed button presses worthy of a fighting game.

I had a discussion with a colleague about Koleda and Ben. The dude was saying that they do not make sense together in a team because the team would lack a support. Koleda and Ben have high impact and buffs, they are more then enough support and they have a mechanic together. If you tap skill while she do the attack that he appears and she steps on his pillar, tou trigger a chain attack like if the enemy was stunnned already. This is huge! Some people will be blinded by tier lists and will refuse to use a single brain cell.

Introduce it like a Filmmaking x KZread x Film making weekly mission where you have to catch the audience attention. Every week they have a different preference like quick assist, enemy airtime, perfect dodge & parry (which you can do by mashing dodge > attack > switch > attack), disorder, enemy stun (with attack like Nicole's projectile, Corin saw or Anton drill),... They just didn't tell us how to absolutely maximize combat on release (even tho yees yees some people who have played the closed versions may already know, most of us just started.) If you think about it, this is not only FUN for the community, since it keeps engagement about the game's combat with new stuff being discovered, but also matches EXACTLY what they said when it comes to the difficulty of the game. "we'll start off easy and the harder stuff will come/get added later on". starting off easy, so even players who have no idea what they're doing can make their way up the story to a decent level, and then, when all the hidden mechanics are discovered, we'll get the more challenging stuff. perfect.

from my experience, in AoE condition nicole quick assist chain attack loop is actually pretty strong, you can get 2, 3 and maybe more chain atk loop if you can manage the daze meter of the enemies inside the field. i also noticed that if you do a lot of chain atk your decibel score will go faster and make you do more ult, its like the game is telling me that i need to do this kind of cool combo instead of just button mashing.

Like, I’ve discovered some of these hidden extras myself, just by smushing the characters, AND I LOVE IT! It really feels like I’m getting better with my characters, and helps to facilitate a sense of improvement and mastery as I play. This was all intentional, and I have to credit the combat devs for it.

Currently level 22 here. First minute into the video and I couldn't help but scream that I knew I wasn't crazy when I found myself doing juggles on enemies here and there. Also found out that quick assists can trigger from certain attacks on accident, but a big part of even knowing it's possible is simply paying attention to what's on your hud. If anything the early parts of the game being easier is one of the best times to look out for this stuff. Already had a feeling the early difficulty wouldn't be that hot when it's another gacha game (a pretty high quality one that's not just mobile, but a gacha either way), but there's some love put into this. The fact something like this has a decent training mode (or one at all) amazes me in the best way possible! Also, now that I know there are also secret command moves I have even more reason to lab random bullshit... the best kind of bullshit!

Pressing the little assist button that shows up after a perfect assist from Soukaku makes the next character pretty much teleport to the target with an attack that transitions well to any movesets. Not sure if this is like a hidden thing or not but it's really funny seeing Lycaon side kick another mob from one corner instantly to another corner of the map

You know when I started playing ZZZ I immediately go experimental on combat. Turns out I was happy to do that lmao. Because they said ZZZ were more like fighting games. So I tried to do random combos and sees what happens. Using my DMC, MGR and PGR logic to see how it works. I found out despite the tutorials are making it simple. It’s actually quite high skill ceiling when you try to make combos. I’m actually mind blown that this is literally much better than I expected when I read about the comments on ZZZ. Now I’m having a blast with it. But I had to say. I have so much fun trying to make combos and experiments with loadouts. You know making me felt like I have to explore by myself to get what I have to. Instead let the tutorial do it for you. Reminds me of TF2 in a way where there’s a “tutorial” it is just basics and simple things. But the depth of the TF2 gameplay is literally through the roof. I had that vibe in ZZZ. Sure story is alright and a bit light hearted compared to other Hoyo games. But atleast they have better comedy than Genshin. But, they do have like 90% of characters that people will get hooked on and being fan fav. Like Billy or Nicole. The 2 Starters, where you felt more attach to those guys than other starter in other Hoyoverse Games. Glad to see more and more people found secret moves or combos. Which basically a good positive shine for the game.

I've been making use of the quick assists when I see them pop up, but I didn't know only some of them showed up in the skill entry. Lucy's great to do a quick hit and switch to Nekomata, who does bonkers DPS, but I didn't realize Ellen's QA gave her the stacks, that's sick. Just a shamer I don't really use them together because I don't get the synergy bonuses. Also I didn't know at all about Nicole's alternate moves!! Damn, I'm at a serious disadvantage without a controller then, hard to hold E and do a quick WASD circle at once 😬

The early release is done by doing the 360+special and letting go as soon as she sits on the briefcase before the orb starts charging. It does the same number of hits as the standard hold skill, but it’s delayed so you can time it with other big damage skills that may travel slower, like Rina Ult. You can also flow into either hidden special mid basic string with basic -> basic -> 360+basic [hold] with zero transition lag.
