Don't re-rack your plates. Hear me out. Example, I want to leg press. I have to take out 10 plates and put them on the machine. Then afterwards I have to take off 10 plates and re-rack. Then another guy goes after me he have to put on 12 plates, then after wards take of 12 plates. So no if we not re-racking. I come to the leg press machine it has say 4 plates on. Then I only have to put on 6 plates. I leave my 10 and then next guy has to put on 2 plates. Much more efficient. I normally always leave 6 plates on the leg press machine so people can only take off a few or put on a few. I think that is a better system.

Just stacked the bar until it couldn't hold another plate. The 25s were all scattered around stacked on various machines. But all the plates racks were empty except for a few 10s, and mostly 5, and 2.5s. That was the final straw for me. I just left and ate the loss of my membership. Started building out a home gym.

While my situation isn’t the same thing, I once dropped a 5 lbs weight on my toe and I remember being distracted by the pain while I was trying to finish my workout. When I got home to check, my eyes were widened when I saw the bruise mark on there and of course I was walking weird on my right feet for a while. That and I remembered looking up on other people experiencing the same situation, which of course left me scared from seeing the end results from other people’s situations. Fortunately I can walk normally again, but although the bruise is still there for 3-5 weeks, I don’t feel any pain, but I’ll keep my toe in check incase anything else comes from it.

Because you don't have to worry about people not taking the plates off the machines and leaving the dumbbells in the wrong place when you don't own any machines and only a pair of 35s and a rusty 80? There is always this guy trying to justify him training at a home gym. It's great if it works for you but most home gyms are absolute shit, you need a considerable amount of space and at least some 3 grand to set up a half decent home gym where you actualy could do most of the things you'd do at a commercial gym with decent quality equipment. A decent leg press will eat up most of that budget, a barbell that won't fold on you after a couple deadlifts (not even one good enough for olympic lifting or serious powerlifting) will be at least 300 dollars. Gym equipment is expensive, people who pay gym memberships aren't all just idiots you know.

I used to work the night shift at a gym where it was truly rare for members to re-rack their weights, and one of my jobs was to put the weights away (usually around 4am). I ended up injuring both of my wrists doing so over the course of several shifts because the weight room was so chaotic. I'm positive many people have gotten injured re-racking other people's weights. Not putting your own damn weights away is the epitome of inconsiderate, not only because you're expecting someone else to do it for you, but because of the injury risks that accompany it (think of some poor old lady having to take hundreds of pounds off the leg press just so she can use it).
