The fade back to Nell dancing on her own through the house was terrifying. Really underappreciated series, people gave it bad reviews because it wasnt overly scary, but it had something you don't see often from this genre, a fantastic story.

Yes, it is something that anyone could go through. I have watched the trailer twice and I don't find that fade back to be terrifying. It is just someone that sees reality through a different dimension than someone else, some people call it "crazy" but it has much to do with some type of trauma that can be fixed. We all have those moments, in different sized realities.

watched this over the weekend and it was hands down the best series i've watched for a long time. some of the scares were brilliant ,the story was well told and the acting superb , hope there is a season 2. if you havent watched it yet i highly recommend.

@Marquis sadly it’s about another family I’m pretty sure. Look up “The haunting of Bly manor” that’s what it’s called. Apparently it’s gonna be scarier which is hard to believe but my hopes are very high this was suuuuch a good show.

Just finished watching the whole thing and I’d give it a 10/10, totally recommend. The way this show was made is so clever, suspenseful, exciting, and scary altogether.

I’m usually not into horror, but clicking on this, last month on Netflix was by far one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Phenomenal acting, storytelling and pace. It will not be a choice you regret.

Nothing is scarier then a scare with no suspense or build-up. The scene where Theo was arguing with her sister and Nelly pops out almost made my heart stop. The end was beautiful. The story was very well put together and the characters (both in the past and present) are really awesome!

That scene made me scream out loud cause I was watching it all alone at night in a dark room with everyone else in the house sleeping and it was so silent and then suddenly nelly popped out and I nearly went up to heaven...

Nothing can describe my love for this series. It made me cry, laugh, scream, shout in anger. It was an emotional roller coaster, with a dash of pure POETRY. Every second, every shot, every sound, EVERYTHING about this series is PERFECT. Thank you, Mike Flanagan. You are my idol, and I hope I can be as good of a director and screenwriter as you someday. It's been 5 years and nothing will ever come close to how disturbed this show makes you feel. Definitely one of the best shows of all time. And the fact that it keeps getting better and better till the very end. A masterpiece 10/10.

I loved it! The best ghost series I've watched in a very long time and the boy who played young Luke was the cutest thing!

*Spoiler Alert The moment you realise that the bad dream that they are talking about is their future. The dark place is the real world outside, Luke poisoning himself stands for his addiction and Nell's broken heart is from the loss of her husband. And the mother says that she will wake them up from bad dreams as such which actually means that she will kill them before they can experience such grief in the future. This show is a horror masterpiece.

I didn't know a horror story could be so magical and can teach us the value of family. Thak you Netflix watched it 2 times now and I still love it.

Some people are saying this show seems too depressing. Having just finished it, I don't agree. If your life and experience has never been even lightly grazed with either loss or mental health issues, from others or yourself, then you might see it as only depressing. But it's ultimately about love and in many ways uplifting by the end IF you've already had a glimpse of the horror of what the mind can do to itself, what true loss can feel like.

I was sceptical at first but damn.. This series made me feel things. So here's a few spoiler free reasons to watch this: 1. It has a story, the horror is not accidental or random. It has meaning. 2. The characters are so wonderfully flawed. And georgus, I can't stop staring at Olivia and adult Luke (my favs but the rest are amazing as well). Also there is a clear distinction in how others view them, how they view themselves and who they actually are. Great characters and character development. 2. Plot twists! They're good and you're so caught up in the moment that they flow so naturally. 3. The atmosphere and production is hq. The scenes are amazing. 4. Doesn't really adhere to any religion or follow any myths. It truly stands on its own. 5. I could now for the life of me guess where this story was heading while I was watching. Sure you have an idea of engame but you don't know how many twist and turns there are and endgame is not exactly what you expect.

this show was amazing. it was sad, terrifying, and deep at the same time. you get attached to the characters and feel their pain. i don’t think i’ve ever cried while watching a tv show before but this one made me cry. definitely recommend it

@@ajiteshmishra2611 honestly? a lot of the recent wan workings suck. la llorona, Annabelle comes home, the devil made me do it. he’s trying to carry on the conjuring series beyond its limit, when most of the time the best things he makes are things that’re new and not continuations of previous movies. saw, insidious, conjuring- they all began great because they were relatively new things. malignant was new but I feel like he’s lost his touch with horror.

Damn near the best thing I've ever watched. I watched the entire thing while I was home sick awaiting COVID results. I'm still blown away.

This show is literally one of the best I have EVER seen. In the finale (no spoilers) I cried at the end because of how emotional the scenes were and then I saw something so happy I literally stopped crying. That is how a finale should be.

There was literally little to none jump scares. That's what made it beautiful. Everything was slow and precise.

i finished watching this series late at night, probably at 2am? and i have trouble sleeping at that time, it wasn't because i felt terrified of the ghosts and jumpscares but just downright devastated by the ending. i spent 8 series or so with them and they just grown in me, the plot and the characters' development are incredibly well made and structured. it's just heart wrenching to see how each of the characters had to struggle and cope with the lost of family members. how it deeply affected them. the whole series left a strong impression on me. yes, the genre is horror but it's far more than that

This was by far one of the greatest ghost story/haunted house series or movie trailer ever put out. The eerie music fit so perfectly. The little girl and the way she is talking about the dream. The description of the dream. I will never forget when I first witnessed it. A grown man sitting in his man cave in the basement with the lights off. After I watched this trailer, I had to turn the lights on, lol.

I'd never cry over horror series/film. I repeated that. This series was the one that made me cry.

I like horror, but this seems to be more depressing than scary.

I finished this show and for a moment I couldn't move. Totally speechless. I was so lost in that world I did not want it to end. It made me feel things I've never felt before. There are no words to describe how brilliantly-written this series is; and I hope I experience something close to it at least once more during my time here. I've had a strong list of my favourite TV shows, and I'm glad I found a new number one!

I can't believe I waited so long to see this series. I just finished it and it's one of the best horror experiences I've ever had. It's horrifying, chilling, psychological, heartbreaking and more. By the climax, I was in tears it was so beautiful. I highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in horror. I'm pretty hard to please when it comes to horror and I loved it.

This was so unbelievably fantastic and scarey.. the actors..the story ..i love horror and this had me on the edge of my seat ....brilliant x

I binged watch one half it yesterday and I loved it. Continued binge the rest of it today and I loved it even more. There wasn't a lot of bloody/gutsy scenes but it was still scary, suspenseful, very supernatural, and had awesome jump scares which I favor the most in horror movies. Plus had awesome acting. I am so looking forward for one more season out of this, if there will ever be one in the future. I have to say that this was my favorite film/series. Awesome job to the director, producers, the author, and the actors. I loved it, loved it, loved it! 😁

This series was so good, the character development and the way every episode was put together and the order the episodes were in. The way every detail from the beginning slowly tired together and the story of every character unraveled. The terrifying things the characters witnessed. Best series I've watched in a long time.

That trailer gave me chills, and I've already seen the series a couple of times!

This series was awesome. Hands down one of my favorite horror shows.

I got so depressed after watching this show. Don't get me wrong, it's one of the most brilliant I've ever seen in terms of horror but it hit close to home. The characters stayed with me after it was done, they are so beautifully written but for some reason they brought me back to my own childhood and to all the issues I've been carrying with me my whole life. How you hope for the best in life, have a beautiful family, a beautiful house but slowly everything starts falling apart. SPOILER I think that the house was a metaphor for mental issues (depression) and how each person deals with it. Some are stronger and pull through, some get completely swallowed by the darkness of it. I could write a million essays about the show because it was that good. Go watch it.

After watching this for the second time, I got so much more out of it. If you take away all the distractions of being scary and realize this is about a story of love and loss with regrets. I have a big family that grew up in and it is so true about love, loss and regrets. My heart went out with the twins because no one believed them. I saw scary thing while I grew up after my grandmother died, and from there I felt like I was being haunted. I was so relieved we move away from that house. So, was she real or was she not real? I don't know. All I know I experienced her haunting me at night. I slept in her bed and she wasn't having it. I told her to sort it out and leave me alone. That didn't work is talking to a ghost. This series was wonderful. I loved it the first time and I felt the same way after I finish the last episode. Well done story writing.

Fantastic, a fresh way of using horror to tell other kind of story, hands down one of the best series I've seen in a very long time.

I was moved by this, The Acting, the storyline, the characters and the easter eggs in every episodes , this is such a brilliant masterpiece and an effective way of executing a horror story, not your typical Haunted House Story.

This is one of the best tv shows I have ever seen! The fact that the true scary things were their minds, emotions and dramas was truly terrifying because you know this can happen to anyone. Hands down to the whole team! Also, I must add that I don't think people with severe depression or anxiety should watch it. It can make your condition worse. I had panic attacks for weeks after seeing it. It's amazing, but be aware of its effects on your mind before watch it, please.

Must watch. What a screenplay and a great story, one of the finest piece of art i would say in horror industry. Character, sound, story, plot, everything is perfect. Couldnot take my eyes off until i finished, and after i finished, i realised it was another day and i was hungry :D This guy Mike Flanagan, loved his all movies.

Finally. Netflix came back with a good one.

I thought this was a horror show. This is actually a beautifully made story about a family. Flanagan is a genius.

A brilliant masterpiece of a show. My favorite scene is Nell’s last dance, from the cinematography, music and Victoria’s acting....takes my breath away. Very VERY SAD. Nell is so heartbroken and overcome with such grief and trauma in her life, that she chose to end her life and thus her suffering. And unfortunately, Nell inherited her pain from her mom, who also took her own life. And as we now know, mental illness such as depression is an Inheritable trait and is more common in people whose blood relatives also have a mental illness. So sad but also frighteningly real. To anyone who have lost a friend or loved one to mental illness, be it depression or Alzheimer’s or suicide, it is almost an unbearable loss. We should all treat each other a little better every day, as we all go through this life and experience it differently but we all share the same joy and pain and heartache. Be kind to one another friends. Everything else is confetti.

The writing of this was genius, the story both scary and emotional and the acting was fantastic. The only horror to have me scared and crying 😢 The ending 😭

The ending of episode five really got to me. I thought I was fine at first, my legs went cold and I was pretty disturbed, but overall I felt okay, then I realised my hands were shaking pretty bad. I sat down and just broke down crying. I guess I just expected to be scared, and I was so focused on not getting scared that I didn't notice any other feelings coming up.

Same. That episode left me deeply disturbed and I watch a lot of horror. I physically could not movie.

Superb. One of the best written horror series of this decade. Touch and Two Storms episodes are my favorite. I was never affected like this since The Grudge and The Ring. Amazingly now I am but with a series. Chill to to the bones!

my friend told me to watch this a little bit ago, at first i was unsure but now i am so thankful i did. I finished it in 2 days and rewatched it 3 days later, this is one of my favorite shows ever and it was amazing. the haunting of hill house was directed was beautifully and when i found out who bent neck lady was, i had to pause my tv. i can’t wait for the 2 season to come and see what it has in store :)

Can’t believe this was four years ago, where has the time gone!

This is like scary in a weird way, you think something is going to happend but its not. For me this is what makes this so special.

It's midnight 1AM and i have just finished the 10th episode of this incredible series & this was my frist series i have watched on netflix. And i would like to say it's absolutely remarkable and mind-blowing content has been made by the makers. Prior i was reluctant to watch this but now after completing this i can say i took a right decision to watch this series. The makers and each and every actor has has did really absolutely splendiferous job. Each and every character was awesome. This is possibly the best show on Netflix and I’ve watched a lot of shows. If you don’t watch this you’re missing out. Scared of horror? Doesn’t matter, it’s way more about the characters than it is about horror. Doesn’t matter what genre you’re into because this almost consists of everything. It encases how deep love goes a long way. It shows how a person can slowly go insane through mundane tasks that seem innocent. It is MIND BLOWING and the plot is amazing. Please do yourself a favor and watch this. Me & my husband watched episode 1 & its already scary for us. Still havent watched epi2. This is satisfying for people whol really like scary stuff. Good story telling. That u wana finish the series to know all the mysteries about. I really wana finish this but i have a toddler and i dont want her to see me watching this. Overall i def recommend!

Best series I have ever watched and the last episode was amazing mind blowing I couldn't find a single fault and anyone who did fault this really need help well done Netflix absolute dynamite

I never loved a show as much as this one. The ending was unreal.

I watched it today and it was great. Good production for a good script. Especially the performance of Victoria Pedretti was very good. I will watch You Season 2 because I became a fan of her.

Hill house, bly manor, and rose red. Cinematic master pieces, the magnum opus of haunted houses and ghost stories. Splendid trifecta, fantastic writing, wonderful music, excellent cast... they all have emotion, depth, and soul. You care about the people, the dialog, the characters. You immersed in the story... such rare gems in a world over saturated by entertainment, such a true delight and a rare diamond to be found in the deep dark depths of a hollowed out coal mine of cinema these days.

What a series. Showing the importance of family, people that will always stay next to you. Amazing script and acting.

Everyone keeps insulting Bly Manor...NOT EVERYONE LIKES TO GET SUPER SCARED....GEEZ...BLY MANOR WAS AMAZING FOR SOME OF US...STOP BEING HORROR FILM SNOBS

I prefer Hill House and it’s not because of the scary factor, but because it has a way better story, more plot twists, better music, and it’s not as slow as Bly

This is one of the best shows ive watched in a long time!! If you're thinking about watching it please do. I cant describe all the different emotions I felt watching this and I also dont want to give anything away. 100/10 my only regret is I didnt find and watch it sooner!

Came here after watching the trailer of Midnight Mass

Really one of the most beautiful movies about ghosts and hauntings ever made!! With such a class, elegance, sensitivity and originality, it is has great depth and definitely gives the chills without ever becoming trashy excessive or cliché and predictable. Also amazing use of the camera. Flanagan is quite a master.👌

Haven’t watched it yet-just checked out the trailer. Look’s good! Everyone has lauded it, so going to dive right in. To think “Our House” is a happy, warm and cheerful song normally but this version’s rendition is utterly eerie and glum.

I watched all the episodes and felt very sad for some of the characters, I wish this show had still more episodes. I would say it's just not an horror thriller also sentiment series and all actors did great job ....

I’m watching the 1999 movie the haunting and realized it resembles this ! In the movie the house is called hill house and they have a hugh Crain and mrs Dudley
