This looks like it’s going to be anxious and dark as hell. I just know Nicolas Cage is gonna be so unhinged and I love Monroe too. I’m very excited for this. The director is the same director that made The Blackcoats Daughter which is super underrated and captures depression and loneliness better than a lot of horror i’ve seen, so excited to see his new work as well. I also get huge David Fincher vibes with this, but I definitely feel like there is going to be paranormal/otherwordly elements at play due to all the little teasers and trailers and imagery we see in them. Edit: Actually so many interesting looking horror films coming out this year. Longlegs, Heretic, Nosferatu, MAXXXine, The Front Room etc.

Yall love horrors movies that aren’t scary and just cuz it’s indie and seems alittle different call it a masterpiece if the cinematography is good. The plot was really close to being interesting but ultimately kinda fell flat. The saving grace of this movie was Nicholas cage and like I said it’s cinematography. The flashback scene that explained the plot was the best part and honestly should have just been the movie. Other than that this movie was very overhyped and not scary at all. I wanted to like it so bad cuz I need a new horror movie worth watching. But I’m glad I saw this for 5 bucks

Please, I just came here to comment after watching it today. It was definitely one of the good horror movies that left me feeling uncomfortable throughout the entire show. It wasn’t just the feeling of horror, but a mix of everything from being disgusted and creeped out, not just by the antagonist but even by the main character herself. Maika was a good actress because the way she portrayed that blank look and soulless character made me uneasy since I wasn’t able to gauge the character well. And Nicolas literally killed his character-he was too good in this!

In case you didn't know (you didn't), the director of this film, Oz Perkins, acted in the movie Quigley, a low budget straight-to-video Christian kids movie starring Gary Busey as a cynical billionaire who, after dying in a car accident, comes back to life as a cute Pomeranian dog, to atone for his sins. Perkins is also the son of the titular psycho from Hitchcock's 'Psycho', Anthony Perkins, but that is less important than the fact that in Quigley he plays a guardian angel sent to supervise Gary Busey-dog as he attempts to right his wrongs. Also in the film, Perkins falls on his face a lot, changes outfits about a dozen times, and also explains to Gary Busey that a woman invented the bulletproof vest. Quigley is one of Macauley Culkin's favorites films. As he says: "This shit's hilarious." Oz Perkins wrote and directed Longlegs.

I also understand horror is subjective, BUT, and that's a genuine question from my part: to people who didn't find the movie scary, what are the movies you consider being the scariest you've seen? I'm really actually intrigued and would love to see comparisons!
@EarthArchangel

I think horror in general never quite scratches the itch for me but Hereditary was the closest mainstream movie anything has come. I like the symbolism there. There was an actual story being told. The cliche horror elements were done in a fresh way. The fear I felt during the film was a genuine disturbance in my heart and it left me deeply contemplative, needing to dive deeper into it. It was torturous for the right reasons, really left a pit in my stomach and made me feel sick at times. It moved me and left something with me. LongLegs just felt like a waste of potential, an amalgamation of a bunch of ideas that were never fully fleshed out. I didn’t understand the message of this movie, rather it felt like it wasn’t even truly saying anything, and I left feeling extremely disappointed. Fluff over substance. I didn’t think I would dislike it as much as I did. I was excited for it but it just didn’t even come close to hitting the mark. I just couldn’t take it seriously. Nothing sat with me the way I need a horror movie to.

@@EarthArchangel I couldn't agree more about Hereditary! It is definitely amongst the scariest movie one could imagine, for all the reasons you mentioned. As for Longlegs, I must say I think I was on a bit of a high right after having seen the movie, because of all the anticipation, but also several elements of the film that really worked on me: the opening scene, the wide angle shots, and the underlying theme. I think I reaaaally wanted and still want this movie to be better than it is because of its huge potential. However, I still think it's pretty great! I've seen a lot of people say it was satured with ideas that didn't quite fall into one another. I guess I understand, but watching the movie my interpretation of it was that it deals with abuse and/or disfonctional parenting (I afterwords got confirmed that it was). Harker's mother as a nun representing how evil can enter homes through detremental believes. The dolls representing traumas (it made Harker forget much like traumatic amnesia), a part of a child that will never grow/heal (this might be a wrong interpretation of mine but I like it). The movie could have been longer to diminish the feeling of being saturated with ideas, especially at the end.

I had followed Oz's career since "February" and while his next 2 movies were definitely weaker it was still clear that he understands horror really well, has an amazing eye to mesmerizing visuals and haunting athmosphere. I'm so happy that we're finally getting a project that seems to live up to his potential!

@@waffie6785 lol i saw the movie at an early 35mm screening in chicago, the marketing is not the movie
Given the reputation Nic Cage has for doing or saying batshit crazy things in previous roles, I feel like the director just told him to let loose and be as maniacal as you like and this film is the end result.
I’m surprised at the comments. I thought this was the best thriller I have seen in awhile. It’s definitely a different kind of horror, so I understand why some would disagree. It has a lot of depth to it, great meaning with dark undertones. Those who get it will understand.

Depth? I thought it was absolutely awful. I went and refilled my slushy like 7 times just to escape the suckage of that whiney ass FBI agent.
Trailer alone sent chills to my spine
i came here after watching it tonight to see the reactions and im really glad they are positive as i thought.
I am eagerly awaiting the next week and a half! Kindly allow this drama to be performed in Hermiston, Os., since we urgently need it.
Excited and so happy that nothing is given away in the trailers, I still have no idea what the movie is about but I sure am ready!
I typically wait until movies hit streaming to watch, but this one just might get me to the theater! The sound design alone has got to be 10 times creepier in booming surround sound!

“The sound design alone has got to be 10 time creepier in booming surround sound.” You’re telling me, I saw one of the previous trailers alone in a dark theater and it was terrifying.
I'll never be able to forget that sound...
I’m gonna tell my husband it’s an “action” movie so that he’ll want to watch it with me 😁
this movie has everything going for it. amazing marketing rollout, creepiness factor through the roof, a genuinely great scream queen at its helm, and nic cage being able to be as unhinged as he likes. i cannot wait to see this!
The people saying it’s sucked expected some trash pg13 Ouija movie. This was brilliantly filmed, the audio mix was amazing, and the plot was unique. Great movie, would certainly watch it again.
This movie looks pretty awesome but can we stop with the "One of the most terrifying movie of the decade" quote? Literally every horror movie gets this one nowadays.

They just put it for marketing purposes. It’s empty words, but you have to realize it’s a business. People who market the movie are different and they have to make sure the movie gets as much money as possible

The scariest part of this trailer is the faceless person audibly puffing his breath at us at the very end.
As someone who loved the cr*p out of this movie, I definitely understand that some people didn't like it. I also understand horror is subjective, BUT, and that's a genuine question from my part: to people who didn't find the movie scary, what are the movies you consider being the scariest you've seen? I'm really actually intrigued and would love to see comparisons!

This movie had a tinge 1980 horror vibe !!! Silence of the lambs, Seven and It Follows , this movie had that feel. A Must See!!!!

Trailer made the movie seem a little more actiony then the movie actually was... it felt like it had an idea of what it wanted to be at the beginning that didn't make it to the end somehow. I felt there was a lot to the story that didn't add up or make sense when trying to talk about specific scenes afterwards.
The trailer reminded me of these classic lyrics: Makin' my way downtown Walkin' fast, faces pass And I'm homebound Starin' blankly ahead Just makin' my way Makin' a way through the crowd
