I can't believe Disney is actually putting love in one of their most iconic rides. We LOVE Haunted Mansion!!!

If they really loved it they would stop changing it for 5 months out of the year to that god awful Haunted Mansion Holiday/Nightmare Before Christmas layout......Im sorry Disney wanted to pretend they had nothing to do with Nightmare Before Christmas until they saw all the little teen emo cutters buying bootleg merch from Hot Topic and decided they could do that.. Either make Nightmare its own thing or just stop ruining The Haunted Mansion 5 months out of the year.

Leota's carriage house soon-to-be at Disneyland and Momento Mori at Walt Disney World both blatantly appear to be inspired directly by Rolly Crump's Museum of the Weird concepts (as the Museum of the Weird was supposed to be both an artifacts showcase of oddities from around the world, but also a Haunted Mansion gift shop).

Leota (before she became a ghost inside the Mansion) as its proprietor or if a supposed descendant of hers (think Leota Tombs' real life daughter Kim Irvine, who takes up duties as Mme. Leota for Haunted Mansion Holiday as well as anniversary promotions related to the attraction) will be running it or else, if Mme. Leota left her carriage house to be freely toured by passerby without the need for a definitive owner, with only Cast Members (dressed up in their classy Mansion servant clothes) running the shop instead.

The haunted mansion is iconic and I love all the love its getting recently. It makes my spooky soul sing

Not only is this awesome because, yay more Haunted Mansion appreciate, but it's also a great sign that Disney is taking time and money to make improvements to the parks outside of rides.

as a new wheelchair user, excited for the elevator exit! but am jaded and nervous about them potentially trying to tie in these new changes to the movie

It seems like they’re going more in the direction of original concept art! I love it!

Hot take: This is what the interactive queue at WDW should've been. Nothing too in-your-face or too busy, only adding to the eerie atmosphere before the real hauntings begin once you're inside.

Maybe some fog machines at night around the Mansion itself could be an additional cool effect. But really sad that I’ll never be able to ride Splash Mountain ever again.

They use misters in the queue for the Tower of Terror in Orlando, and the same effect would be AMAZING for the Mansion. Cools you down AND builds the eerie atmosphere.

Why is someone always brining up that ride? You can still ride it, it just won’t be problematic now. Just consider it Tiawna bayou adventure at splash mountain.

Well that’s cool, I hope they put some of my favorite ghosts that were never used in the ride like King Henry The 8th and Anne Boleyn, The Burning Miser, Daphne, Guy Fawkes, The Headless Horseman, The Ghost Maid, Blackbeard and The Big Game Hunter.

I was kind of hoping that if they were to expanded the gift shop that they would make it themed around museum of the weird for Rolly but a madam Leota theme is awesome too!

the new queue area looks super similar to the vibe of the queue at phantom manor! love it so much, this is truly such amazing news!

We have all been dying for something new with the Mansion. I can't "Wake" to roll through that line and ride again. 😁

I am glad we are finally getting some love to our original Haunted Mansions queue! and a new Mansion shop will hopefully sell even MORE Haunted Mansion stuff...that is ride related and non terrible flop movies related!

Spanish Moss might not work in dry Anaheim, but something similar may exist. 6:16

I really hope Disney makes the Haunted Mansion gift shop a version of the Museum of the Weird where they have a Candle Man statue next to THM t-shirts. I think it would be a great tribute

Makes me sad that Dr. Facilier isn't going to be in Tiana's Bayou Adventure (Or so they say) because him with his Voodoo Magic and Shadow Minions along with Louis and the Bayou Animals would make it a perfect transition between The Haunted Mansion and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Turning Splash Mountain into a salt mine is a travesty. Guess what the Uncle Remus stories were about? The clever rabbit(black man) outsmarting the oppressive predators. Guess where slaves worked and died in Louisina? Salt mine.

Can't wait to see how this new queue area would look during the holiday overlay.

I’m a wdw native and honesty so siked about the changes to both. I’ve been jealous of hatbox for years but I agree Disneyland needed more. It’s my fav too so I’m excited to see the growth and princess and the frog is my favorite movie so now I have even more reason to make new memories in California.

Anaheim MoFos right here! So excited for these changes and additions...words escape me. I need to go outside, do some Tai Chi and calm down.

I don’t know if this concept art really matches the eerie theme of the haunted mansion. It looks too colorful and whimsical. Hope they can capture the eerie feeling that makes the ride so great.

He actually talked about it in the video! Walt’s original plan was to make the outside pretty and well kept bc the ghosts only keep the inside so it’s not supposed to be eerie

@@andrewcurtis8707 that’s fair but I feel like the mansions exterior is meant to capture an eerie vibe while still being upkept. The concept art looks like something you’d see in fantasy land. The Orlando mansion does this well. The exterior is well kept yet still feels eerie and intimidating.

@@Protato_Gamer I think they're also trying to smoothen the transition between the haunted mansion and what is to become Tiana's Bayou Adventure which is much more colourful and whimsical. Hopefully this will ease you into the ride/land with a bit more cohesion.

I just want to remind everyone that the Spirit Halloween shop last year had a lot of Haunted Mansion merchandise thanks to Hocus Pocus new movie as well so hopefully this year we get even more merchandise in celebration of this new opening for next year

This to me is the BESTEST of news. I love love love this ride and cannot get enough! And anything that ties into the lore is extra special and fun to me!

This all looks amazing, but I’m one of the few people who will miss the quiet fountain square.

Fingers crossed that Madame Leota's shop will also double as a "Musée de l'Etrange." Give it that name and it'll definitely fit in with New Orleans Square and make the Dis-nerds like us go crazy!

They needed a gift shop next the the haunted mansion for years. That small cart was never good enough.

This supports my suspicion that they will be moving (virtually) Tania's Bayou Adventure into New Orleans Square from Critter Country. It makes more sense to be in New Orleans Square, even if it leaves only one ride in Critter Country.

this was a very long time ago... however in Disney World 1978 the Haunted Mansion is right across from the "Tri Cornered Hat Shop" and what I remember Disney staff informing guests was the following: the Gracey family made their fortunes as Hatters. And up in the attic of the ride was a ghostly bride next to the silhouette of a man. Lord Gracey on his wedding day found his bride up in the attic with this man, and in a jealous rage killed the man and cut off his head, and killed his bride by cutting out her heart. It was only after he had killed both that, he realized the man was his forman in their hat business and his bride had commissioned a top hat for her groom to wear at their wedding. This was what Disney staff explained as the bride with the beating heart, and the hat box ghost. Considering how the Disney corporation likes to recycle it's product and now Woke-ify everything Disney, what is canon in Disney seems more unrealistic than a fairy tale. I also want to say I do like to watch your channel, you have a nice personality and a passion for all things Disney, however I am surprised that anyone could stay loyal and a fan of Disney in this age where disney seems determined to destroy everything Disney/Marvel and Star Wars

The shop looks like Jean lafitte’s blacksmith shop bar in New Orleans! Same roof, gables, & wide carriage doors. It’s definitely the inspiration

The expansions and improvements to Disneyland's New Orleans Square are very welcome.

I've been saying for years that an easy way to give us some shade in the queue on the side of the house would be to turn it into a covered "greenhouse" area, with plenty of dead and spooky plants on display and fans and sound system built into the canopy cover, which would be all the same iron and glass construction as the fences and the former fast pass kiosk area. I've even said it out loud while standing in that area. Im sure some imagineer heard it! 🤣 Just the fact that it looks like that's part of what they're doing, and expanding the queue so that it doesn't absolutely take over the fountain plazza in front of HM, is a great step in the right direction for the New Orleans Square area.

So sorry Orlando 😭😭😭 being an east coaster. But congratulations Anaheim! I've always liked the facade of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion better than Magic Kingdom's but MK does have the AMAZING cemetery queue! I just wish we got a... bigger Haunted Mansion ride exploring certain ghosts/residents more closely, encountering them more, etc. I dream that Disney will one day combine Haunted Mansion with Tower of Terror. My two favorite rides, the spooky aesthetics, the spiritualism revival of the 20s/30s which is also the "golden age of Hollywood", they just work so well together.

@@TherealRNOwwfpooh Wrong. Hotel Hightower is the one in Tokyo Disneysea...And is COMPETELY separate from the Florida Tower of Terror, no "Twilight Zone" tie-in. The story of the Tokyo Disneysea Tower of Terror was developed specifically to have no link to the "Twilight Zone"-themed Hollywood Tower Hotel of Florida and (prior to being taken over by the Guardians of the Galaxy) California. Hotel Hightower's resident curse is instead due to a religious idol that Hightower plundered and then dishonered during a public exhibition (he used the head of the idol to put out his cigar).

@@Mechasonicrocks Whichever way it was, my point still stands that Connie's decapitated 5th husband George is related to Harrison Hightower (they're brothers), who owns at least one of the Towers of Terror, so the Haunted Mansion & Tower of Terror are already formally connected through that lineage.

@@TherealRNOwwfpooh Yes, which means the only Tower of Terror directly connected to the story of the Haunted Mansion is the Tokyo Disneysea version. You weren't too far off, as the Tokyo Tower of Terror being built by a relative of George Hightower (aka one of Constance's former husbands) IS 100% canonical...The only details you got wrong were in regard to every other Tower of Terror currently existing being owned by a Hightower as well as the Tokyo Disneysea Tower of Terror having its supernatural aspect be a side effect of the Twilight Zone. To be honest, as much as this stuff is being written, re-written, de-canonized, re-canonized over decades...One out of three correct story details isn't too bad.

This is great news! Mansion is my favorite ride at the park, and it's so good to see it getting some attention even all these years later. Any word on if the ride will be open during this remodel? I'm going to be there in January and would hate to miss it due to closure for construction.

So excited! Glad that they are actually giving Disneyland's HM the love and respect it deserves! The gardens look cool too. Pretty reminiscent of WDW's interactive queue, but different enough to know that Disney really is putting the proper work and effort into this.

This actually made me tear up. This is my absolute favorite ride since I was four years old! I’m so so so happy about this! 🥹🥹🥹

What I really think they should do with the shop is make it themed to the Museum of the Weird and sell "Weird" items in the shop (Strange statues, specific music instruments, maybe a official Haunted Mansion lore book [hopefully including our man Mr. Jean Lafitte!], some magic kits, along with other haunted mansion merch, and whatever strange objects they can think of) and theme it with some ideas from the original Mark Davis sketches.

Rather than having a new gift shop, they should have put a mini Museum of the Weird

I have to say, I really like the new additions. I think there's a lot of potential for various seasonal themes and animatronic creatures that they can add or remove within the greenhouse.

Nice! Of course this'll happen after what will likely be my only Disneyland visit in decades, but that's okay! I've gotten to experience the WDW one quite a few times.

The Hatbox Ghost at WDW doesn't make sense story wise where they're putting it. How do you have a ghost in its physical form before the Madame Leota scene.
