Awesome!!! Keep in mind folks, this is the same author who wrote The House On The Border -Land, which Ian read a few weeks ago and is such a different type of horrendous experience from Carnacki. Less Sherlocky, more meta-physical dread...also, The Ghost Pirates and The Boats of the 'Glen Carrig are worth checking out if you love ghostly tales of the sea. Hodgson seems to have written a gallimaufry of sub genres

Acedia Nihil I concur. It is easy to see what elements of Hodgson's writings Lovecraft was most heavily influenced by: the genetic travesties against nature in particular. I appreciate how Hodgson leaves us to speculate as to their origins, as the Pig-Men in the house on the borderland and Weed-men in the Glen Carrig will be explained by each reader based on their capacity to imagine and their backgrounds.

As for Ghost Pirates, it is probably wise to find some online vocabulary of nautical terms and to check pictures of interior and exterior of the type of vessel featured in the story.
