While the playoffs are well underway, there are sixteen other teams that have been licking their wounds in elimination. Their reasons for failure are diverse in nature: It could be from undergoing a deep rebuild, injuries, awful luck, or a Devils-style freefall. Yet they have been out of the dance all the same.
This video is dedicated to these sixteen teams and their many mishaps during the season. Most will get another chance to redeem themselves. Arizona, however, will not. And it's long been inevitable there.

@@TheSuperdog19 I mean not really, the sens have as many stanley cup appearances as any other Canadian team since they were founded, and have been to the conference finals more than Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and Edmonton since 1992, so by Canadian standards, they are looking pretty good. Unfortunately due to Canadian taxes and federal economic mismanagement (aside from 2006-2015), nobody in the NHL wants to play in Canada which is why american teams are so much better
Let's not forget the Red Wings losing in OT to the Sharks after being up 4-0 halfway through the game including two shorthanded goals allowed on the same PP. Most humiliating loss as a fan I've ever seen in a regular season game.

As someone who paid attention to the Kraken UTree, Hakstol was the exact opposite of Sutter in that he let the players govern themselves, perhaps to a fault. The problem was that the leadership structure on the players end became a mess, and Francis didn’t do enough this past offseason to sustain success. I honestly think you guys have a MUCH better shot at winning this Oilers series than most are predicting. This series is depth vs. star power. That Canucks team has some serious fight in them and that game 1 was a character win. Game 2 went to OT. Canucks just need 1 of the next 2 and they go back to Vancouver for game 5. Nice to have home ice as well. If this goes 7 that's going to be big. We'll see. I'm sure they love being the underdogs as well. Regardless of what happens the future of the Canucks looks bright.

The Flyers collapsing to close the season was very disappointing but let’s face it: We would have probably just gotten swept by the Rangers just like the Capitals did. I'm not so sure about our goaltending though. Before Hart got arrested we had a legit goalie tandem which is my theory on why we won so many games during that time. @MegaAce042

The Flyers definitely have a bright future, especially after the season that they had this year. Yes, you may have missed the playoffs and went on that losing streak, but that's pretty much irrelevant compared to your other seasons you had so far this decade, so consider it a W. Next year, I expect Philly to be a playoff team around second or third in the metro division
@heliumtrophy

@@thephoenixxm4160 Let's give Fedotov a full season before labelling him one way or another. But yeah, it looked to be a good tandem with Hart and Ersson together. Irrespective of whether he's a sexual abuser or not, the whole business has tainted Hart's image for the foreseeable future. There will still be someone who will take him on whenever that may be. Either way, this team definitely was more enjoyable to watch - it's amazing what firing Chuck Fletcher would do.

Any series would have been better than that Caps series though. Caps knew from the jump they didn't belong there and were going to get smoked. Ovechkin looked like he just straight up took an on ice vacation the entire series as well. He was public ice skating, not playing playoff NHL hockey.
Wings took a step forward this season and surprised many. They may have overachieved but it feels like the worst is behind them. Larkin is legit, Raymond had his breakout and is just beginning to hit his stride, and Seider continues to show he’s a tier 1 defenseman. With a top 3-5 prospect pool they’ll be in the playoffs, making noise, soon enough. All that said, they could take a bit of a step back next season depending on in Kane goes and how the next group of rookies that gets called up adapts to the NHL. Still, the future is very bright and a second Red Wings Empire is just on the horizon
Tree, at 17:27, you nailed it. The Blues should have kept Pat Maroon. Maroon is a hometown boy. The first and only St. Louisan to win The Cup for his boyhood team. Montreal has Jacob Fowler in the pipeline. I think you stand pat on goalie, Monty and Primeau can form a solid tandem that won’t cost you games. In the meantime, weaponize the plethora of left handed defencemen and draft picks you’ve accrued and try to get some more young, undervalued forwards to add up front. Ride out the next few years of the Gallagher and Anderson deals and be ready to start contending for 2026-27. I expect playoffs before then and someone please wrap Kirby Dach in bubble wrap
Ron Francis finally found a steady goaltender in his GM tenure. What did it cost? Everything. This is the most hopeful I’ve been about the Flyers in many, many years, Danny Briere has been absolutely killing it as GM so far and we could apparently see Matvei Michkov in North America sooner than expected. "How long will Columbus fans tolerate this?" It's a question I asked myself when Phoenix was announced to be leaving. The Art Modell rule will slow relocation down if it ever comes to that. One thing that is lost on many is that Columbus is a very fast growing city. Many, many people in the building are new to the city, and see it as one of the only things to do in the city. They aren't necessarily "fans."

As a CBJ fan, Sisyphus had it better than this team. At least he could push the boulder to the top of the mountain before it rolled back to the bottom. Columbus at most barely makes it halfway before the boulder rockets into the air, comes plummeting down, bounces on top of them and crushes them a couple dozen times, and then gathers mud on the way back down that hardens into rock, making the boulder even bigger for the next go-round. Deleting the franchise could be considered a mercy killing after twenty-four years of misery and futility.

As a Flames fan, I’m not worried about the next few few years. It’s about time we went through some tough decisions-putting it off for years and years has been the worst, finally being bad and shooting for picks and prospects for the future is the logical step at this point in the cycle of a hockey club’s life. You can’t always be good, and you can’t always be okay. That’s fine. The Flames fans that have accepted this are the ones that are optimistic to the future. The ones that haven’t can be found whining on the comments, saying “sell this person”, “sell that person”.
