While racing toward the town of Red Rock in post-Civil War Wyoming, bounty hunter John "The Hangman" Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive prisoner (Jennifer Jason Leigh) encounter another bounty hunter (Samuel L. Jackson) and a man who claims to be a sheriff. Hoping to find shelter from a blizzard, the group travels to a stagecoach stopover located on a mountain pass. Greeted there by four strangers, the eight travelers soon learn that they may not make it to their destination after all.

    I like how Samuel L Jackson had Jennifer Leighs back at 10:51. She didn't get to finish answering the question, because the subject got changed with laughter. He didn't have to do that at all. And the guy who asked the question was the one who tried to change the subject. So Sam cut him off to let her finish answering the guys own question, Maybe I'm looking to far into it. But Respect Mr Jackson. You just got alot cooler in my book and I didn't even know that was even possible👍

    Hateful Eight is definitely Tarantino's most underrated movie . Of course Pulp Fiction & Reservoir dogs are 1 and 2 , but I would put Hateful Eight somewhere in my top 5 . Shot beautifully , All-star cast , and the dialogue is so good. That scene with Samuel L. Jackson telling General Smithers how he killed his son was classic Tarantino dialogue , and Walton Goggins as Sheriff Chris Madix was hilarious. Movie had comedy , action , drama , and mystery , so idk why it's in the bottom half of a lot people's favorite Tarantino films ?

    Seriously, fuck this political correctness bullshit. In particular in the world of art and entertainment. The more this social critic gets power the less creative our artists can be. This is why I love Tarantino films, because they're unapologetic and tell a story without the hindrance of being forced to be "softer" just to be "socially correct" Scorsese and Tarantino are both one of the few real writers and film makers for adults these days.

    Well I disagree that movies should be completely free from political correctness, especially the use of racial stereotypes in Hollywood specifically. I mean any story you tell has an influence on the viewers that watch, and in someway it is a responsibility. Having that said I don't think Tarantino is politically incorrect in his movies. Yeah he uses the word n*gger in almost every movie but they are in clear context with the character he's created. Tarantino doesn't support racial stereotypes plus many of his complex and intelligent characters have often been black or even Asian. Tarantino is so passionate about his films and it often bleeds into such "unapologetic" and "raw" characters; but when Hollywood portrays racial characters in order to utilize or sustain a certain stigma, yeah I'm going to disagree with that

  • @keenoled

    @keenoled

    +Namu Kim Ha, just what I was going to say. I would argue that Tarantino is always PC. His movies always cheers on the underdog, and never is there injustice without reason. Politically incorrect would be casting a token colored/female character that dies first, or has no lines, or is a stereotype. Tarantino respects people, and would never do that.

It serves as a pretty freaking sweet reintroduction to the universe and leaves you wanting more.

    Tim Roth's performance in this is understated. I don't know if many Americans picked up on his exaggerated posh accent but he's tried hard to make it completely over the top and cynical for dramatic effect. And he gets to deliver the funniest line in the film: "The n******** in the stable has a letter from Abraham Lincoln?!" It's all in the delivery. A sublime performance.

    You know a movie and the direction it took is amazing when basically every actor in the movie was the best actor on screen in their own way. Every character is memorable and the fact the whole movie takes place in either a stage coach or Minnie's makes it easier to focus and appreciate everyone on screen.

    I like that QT gives each of his cast of characters a 'moment' where that character is given the screen all to themselves no matter how big or how seemingly minor their part actually is in the story. It seems to help bring out the actor's A game.

    Just recently watched this movie and the uncut director's version also recently. Sometimes I think Jennifer Jason Leigh is so under-rated as an actress. She did an amazing job holding her own as a villain/Daisy, in this movie with all the guys. And she was just as nasty and hateful as the rest of them. And the way Kurt pulls the chair out for her to sit down at the beginning.

    Every couple of years I go through Tarantino's films. Dogs and Pulp Fiction will always be tops/instant classics but the rest of his films always need some time to really sink in; some get better, some don't quite hold up (but are still great). I think Hateful 8 is one of his best and gets better with each viewing (of course I also think Death Proof is one of his best, so... Ha!).
