    Mosquitos are so rough in the United States Midwest. I bought a white long sleeve UV resistant shirt because they have an extremely harder time attacking me now, and the UV resistant is to stay cooler when the sun is out. And I wear jeans regardless because getting bit on the legs is the worst. They go for the hands and neck very rarely in my experience while wearing all of those clothing. I would rather be hot and somewhat sweaty than getting bit every 5 seconds. Average temp in the midwest for summer is around 85F/29C. Mosquitos will literally ruin macro walks if you dont prepare

    Hi @MicaelWidell. I haven't had any issues with the auto image preview that was an actual bug. But, what I have found, is that the auto-face sensor in the viewfinder will override image preview. If you're holding the camera too close to your face or body when the image preview pops up, it'll shut off the image preview. Try disabling auto EF switching.

    04:30 AS others have said, I think it's a caterpillar of the large white butterfly. Don't let it anywhere near your cabbages! 😁 Great images as always, Micael. Still can't figure out how you get by with 1/8 flash power. I haven't done the math to check the impact, but even considering the format differences (I'm using Nikon APC-S typically on F14) and the fact my flash units are the Godox TT350 (not the V) and a Nikon SB-700, I need at least 1/4 power nearly all the time. I tried the V350 and found it even less consistent than what I already had.

  • @stephenbarlow2493
    @stephenbarlow24938 күн бұрын

    I think the caterpillar, is one of the Burnet Moths, but I couldn't tell you which one. If the AK and Cygnustech diffuser are like the first concave diffusers I made, you can actually recover highlights up to nearly 2 stops over-exposed. It's not as important now as it used to be, but before the noise removal software was so good, it used to be important to get plenty of light. I started stacking, a very long time ago, about 18 years back, but then I gave up and went back to single exposures, as it was more fun.

  • @hawahawa7808

    @hawahawa7808

    Yeah, the Burnets look a bit similar, but they have more clearly defined areas of black on yellow. I believe this is the Large White, Pieris brassicae. This also fits better with the foodplant, which I think is Bunias orientalis - at least it's Brassicaceae. Lowland Burnets typically feed on Fabaceae.

  • @stephenbarlow2493

    @stephenbarlow2493

    7 күн бұрын

    @@hawahawa7808 - I was going by the shape of the larva, not the colouration. I agree with you about the food plant, but the caterpillar does not look like a Pieris brassicae larvae, which are typically elongate, and not this short stubby shape. Zygaena is quite a big genus of moths, and I have no idea how many species there are in Sweden or overall. Or the total range of larvae. I didn't think it was a 6-spot Burnet (Zygaena filipendulae), but as I say, it's a large genus of moths, and I wouldn't claim to know what they all look like, although from what I know their larvae tend to have this distinctive shape.

    I had a similar problem with picture preview on my OM-5. In my case, the picture preview wouldn’t turn off. It was greyed out on the menu and not available. I tried resetting the camera (multiple times) with no luck. The issue resolved itself a couple of days later when I was going through my lenses to make sure they were all updated (they were). That’s when I noticed that picture preview was suddenly selectable again. I’m not sure what happened. The best I can guess is that something in switching between so many lenses and going back-and-forth reset whatever weird data bit was toggled. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more specific with the fix, but the problem hasn’t reoccurred since. I hope this helps. Good luck.

    Good video Michael. I do not agree that cropping from the Oly files is a problem. I do it a lot. All the time, actually. Depending on the image, I crop to sqare format. Let's say I crop to 2700x2700 pixels. That makes a 7 mb image size. That is still enougt to make a print @ 23x23 cm, and 300 dpi resolution. You can easily go to 30x30 cm and some 210 dpi without any visible loss. And to be honest, how many prints of insects do one need? Since it will be mainly for the computerdisplay you can crop even further - unpunished...-and @f:13 or less not much stacking is needed, I agree.

    As for image review I have turned it off in my Olympus cameras as I find it of little use, so cannot help there, especially as your issues seem to be intermittent. If I need to review the shot I just press the left arrow button for image review. That way I can examine it and not be limited to a particular time. Seems like a non issue. I had to laugh when you talked about cropping as a problem because of only 20mp. My wife's first digital camera had 4mp and mine, a DSLR, had 6mp. 35mm film was somewhere around 8-12mp. Software these days makes ISO and image size less relevant. I have enjoyed your channel and have purchased the Godox 860iii flash and Cygnustech diffuser because of this. I have the O-M1 and 90mm macro. As for mozzies, well I have lived with these my whole life in Australia and New Guinea. Long sleeves and some insect repellant usually works.

    Be careful about using DEET around your camera gear. DEET melts plastic.

    Yeah I think I will not use it again, as it is not that effective either

    Use a Balaclava & full gloves or biker gloves to reduce mosquito bites. This what i do i apply Anti-Mosquito creams on my hands & some parts of my neck & face before wearing a Balaclava & hand gloves to reduce Moquito bites.
