Very interesting for me as I have just started with BFT from Min Wei. I have seen the black ninjas and also two other types of juveniles, ones that start white and brown and others black and white but those also have more blue. I have a couple hundred now from five adults and am having a lot of fun with them.

Magnificent information on selection. One has to be extremely picky with pattern work. Pattern first and then coloring and carapace saturation which can then be helped along by a male like the last one you showed. I used to breed Standard Poodles in white but to keep whites ultra bright you had to use a black once in a while. Same idea, I think. Thank you again for sharing your breeding knowledge with us.

The biggest thing is that Fancy Tigers are not an even playing field. There is a lot of lying about the genetics, with most current strains of FT coming out of Asian having Taiwan Bee coloring, patterns showing their GFB genetics (you should never see a backline in a real FT), as well as the blue that is more than telling as to it having polluted genetics. The first "Fancy Tigers" were called Dancing Man and were created by Mo Poehler in Germany using Caridina Mariae x Crystal Reds (what most call pure lines now). There should be no taiwan bee coloring, there should be no serrata influence (ie backline), and there should be no blue over the white. The problem is there is a lot of $$$ incentive for breeders to cross things into their lines and pass them off as high grades, when they are actually improper FT types. Taiwan bee coloring is much easier to work with, and much more solid, but as stated before, it should not be present in ANY true fancy tiger. The reality of the situation is what is shown in the video and what most people are buying as Fancy Tigers, are actully just Galaxy Tigers with Fancy Tiger patterns.

Depends the type of shrimp you want, neocaridina have their own unique parameters, while caridina are the complete opposite
