Yup..Im getting the 2.75 boat ready again for the winter season..I wond be doing many more multi day trips this year so the larger boat will be used less.. Thanks for commenting:-D

Watched almost every uk sib vid on youtube now lol. First guy that added any humour to his vid. Ten out of five mate. Also first time in a sib vid I've seen the fishfinder on a removable tackle box. Brilliant with limited space to mount anything properly on inflatables.

Great channel Donny looking for something like this for years. Fantastic adventures in your 4×4 of the seas. Tried ro reach Tobermory a few years ago in my zodiac rib from Ballahulish but got cold feet half way up the sound of Mull so full marks for your adventures .

I cocogamer ..believe it or not..thats what I started inflatables with and used it for 5 years..powered by a 2.5HP. I launched at Silversands and visited inchcolm etc ..and caught the mackerel there too.. Enjoy your boat

Oh wow so your rib boat has a hard bottom nice. Mine has all the inflatable parts but I like these rib boats the most

Had a great two weeks, sadly the wind picked up the second week which stopped my fun. My FRib goes well. Looking forward to seeing your footage from that trip.

Nice Video, nice RIB, until today i used only inflatable with Alubottom oder SIB, i think RIB are very good by waves

Hi cuximan..thanks for stopping by. Yup RIBS are more efficient in most ways but the wee F Rib slams in a chop ..far more than a comparable SIB..its because its flat bottom is almost like a tea tray:-0 Where as the Quicksilver RIB is perfect in a bit of chop

Hi Jeff ..its quite expensive as you pay for the folding part. Google F Rib to find recent prices ..and it was just within my stingy pension money :-D

Great insight Donny, thinking about upgrading to an F-Rib next season myself. Do you carry an anchor at all in this particular boat ?

Yup ..but as I dont anchor at sea often its just a 1kg grapnel anchor. Its great for placing between rocks on shores etc when I land. I also carry at all times PLB, VHF, foot pump, PVC repair kit, some tools, spare prop, bailer, compass, survival bag, longer rope for anchor, sharp knife, plasters, toilet paper. Its always best to be prepared ..within reason of course. That all fits in the bow box so its always with me.

Hi Andrew ..its made from a bit of old canvas .. cut and sewn to shape ..with a flexible tent pole to hold the opening open..hope that helps

Brilliant video Donny - I am getting an F Rib 275 shortly. I have noticed that you have had a couple of different outboards. Which is your favourite brand? I can't make my mind up between Honda, Suzuki or Yamaha all at 6hp could you advise me?

Hi Mike .. I don't think there is much difference between modern 6HP outboards from the main makers ..so best get the one that the local dealer sells if you need it serviced etc. I love the Yamaha 6HP and the reason I bought it instead of a different brand was..at that time it was the only four stroke 6HP that could be transported on three sides when laid flat. Four strokes can have engine oil run into the head if not transported correctly. I think other brands have now followed Yamaha and can be laid on three sides too..but check Honda can if its important to you. My Yamaha has done hundreds on hours running near Full throttle and its never seen a dealer as I service it myself. Guess what Im suggesting is any of the decent brands will do the job..choice is yours. However many folk will say the brand they own is the best ..as it justifies their choice :-D Enjoy the boat..Im still delighted with mine

Cheers for the advice Donny - It is appreciated. I have over 30 years boating experience and have owned quite a lot of outboards starting with a good old British Seagull and working my way up to a Mariner 75. Now I have decided on the F Rib it will be powered by a Yamaha 6hp. Thanks Mike

I Mike.. I made that bow box from plywood as I wanted one to fit in the top box on my car along with the other boat accessories..however I had a plastic box from B &Q which did almost as well ..so search around the big stores and you will get something suitable ..hope that helps. I have had that layout for 4 years now and never found the need to change it..so I can recommend it :-D

Do you carry a vhf radio thing in case of emergencies? We are looking at m73euro. Any advice? I have just made a bow shelter after watching one of your videos. Will post a pic when it's on the boat. Made from thick wind plastic so I dont miss anything.

Hi again cazzy.. yup I always carry a handheld VHF. Its an Icom one that I use. Perhaps more important for me, as I go alone to remote places is the PLB I carry. I heard two kayakers got into difficulty off Dunbar a couple of weeks ago. No one heard their handheld VHF may day calls. They then operated the PLB (Personal Location Beacon) and within 40 minutes the RNLI lifeboat was there to assist :-D

We are saving Summer isles for our 2 week holiday last week June first week July. My sib shelter is almost done, will post pics on this thread. Thanks for your advice and amazing film. Ps. Try to get the hubster to buy me a dry suit after your film....drysuit vs waders... very thought provoking around safety!!

What tablet and software combination are you using for your GPS? I’ve tried Navionics on my phone but the screen is really a bit too small.

Hi Chris ..I use memory map as I also use the OS maps for hillwalking. More accurate that charts..even along the coast. OS also do marine charts..but I don't have them. Im only interested in close to shore info which the OS maps show from low water to high water. Perhaps one day I will get charts. I do check online charts for tide races in areas I don't know..but I know most of them on the west of Scotland now

Yup.. I used my old moms machine and normal thread. The canvas I used was an old bag for carrying an inflatable but I also made one from a tarp bought out of Halfords. The puzzle is how to attach the tent pole ends to the boat..I has a fixing for the safety rope in the correct place so utilised it ..some will fix the tent pole to the wooden seats etc ..just a case of seeing what works for you

I'll give it a go on my sewing machine, and figure out where to place the poles soon - I think I have a good idea. Thanks again for the help, it's much appreciated. Stay safe :)

@@lw459 Hi LW ..To start my cover..I made a seam along one edge ..then inserted the tent pole through the seam and hung it on the boat... that let me see the shape required..so pinned in a couple of dart seams to give the front its shape..then finished it off..hope all that makes sense..its not so hard as Im no seamstress ..I kept my old moms sewing machine .. but seldom use it.

Hi Don I've just moved to Portugal from the UK . I will be going in the lakes over here with my wife and 3 year old . Do you think I'd be better off with the 330 f-rib ? My arms are not the strongest these days

Hi Super Charged .. although the 33o Frib is a bit heavier..if I had a partner and young kids ..I would go for the 330 size. My brother has one and it comfortably takes two adults and two kids. The 275 size would be a squeeze with two adults ..my opinion only though...hope that helps :-D
