@Nexus Six Ken Griffey Jr. made Baseball cool and is loved by almost every baseball fan. At this point he though, he was clearly 3rd fiddle behind Sosa and McGwire as far as popularity.
The Kid was something else. Growing up watching him and MJ was a privilege. Generational talents. Legends. #24EVER

To this day I have not seen a swing this smooth.
Back to back Champ. He’s the best to ever do it and it’s not even close. If Griffey never has career dampening injuries at age 30 he’d be the only player in history with 800 home runs. Without any sort of debate. This was Griffey at his best, 96-99 was peak Griffey…. He barely even played from 2001 until the 2005 season and was hurt all through his 30’s and he STILL had 630 homers. Like I said, if he never had the career dampening injury/injuries at 30; he’d have 800 with ease. He’s the goat. The greatest baseball player to ever step on the diamond. Period.
such a nice smooth swing
I remember this. The best thing about it was he wouldn't take a lot of pitches off like most batters. Those were consecutive swings consecutive homeruns. Best swing ever. My favorite baseball player of all time
Make baseball great again
The energy in that place though!
Golden age of baseball. Such amazing talent in one area. Love watching all of them, but Griff was just special.

Love watching Griffey play as a Mariner. Should have stayed a Mariner but no matter the person money does get involved even for Griffey and the chance to play For Cincy. The most beautiful swing ever in MLB.
Griffey has one of the best swings in the league.
Greatest Swing Ever in MLB history 🙌!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was there, simply awesome. Second time I have written comments, what happened to the first ones Google. Luv JR and that swing all natural
2023 man I miss the good ole days. Nobody cares about the HR contest anymore. Like the NBA dunk contest. But when I was a kid we would have sleepovers for “the days of summer”. Whata time to be a kid that was.
Ken a name destined for greatness
BEST LOOKING SWING IN MLB HISTORY. Also, we NEED to go back to this HRD format

Tell you what, steroids, no steroids, best swing ever, not the best swing ever WHATEVER the case may be theres no denying some of those were some phuking DEEP arching majestic shots!
Sweetest swing a baseball player can do.
Anyone else loose it at that..sound at 0:47 ?
Hey BERMAN…. ITS NOT JUNIOR GRIFFEY. It’s KEN GRIFFEY JR
Junior...if he had played on the Red Sox or Yankees and stayed healthy for 20 yrs..with those short right fields...a 1,000 home runs..no problem
By the way Mark McGuire is chewing his gum so aggressively leads me to think he might not be as happy as he is trying to appear to be.

He was thinking, I'm using steroids, I should be winning this derby.
Maybe the greatest swing all time 🤷🏾♂️
My fav HR derby. Only one thing, though, is worse than listening to Chris Berman.... Dick Vitale.
And took it the opposite way
No dope
스포츠중계는 마징가TV가 좋아요
Imagine if he stayed healthy and was roided out for his entire career... 1000+ HRs no doubt.
When steroids were in Baseball is when it was at its peak IMO.
steroid vs android
I rather watch this instead of the bullshit 13 homeruns mcgwire did in the first round.
All other players in awe of him consider maybe the best player of all time in 1999 but please give your WAR and advanced analytics of why he is overrated box score nerds
This shows steroids are not worth it.
Mark mcgwire with steroids, couldn't even win it.
Imagine Griffey on roids

As much as it pains me to say it, he very well might have been on something. Not necessarily straight up steroids, but some sort of PED. I don’t know though. His swing was absolutely gorgeous, he was a reasonably sized dude, and he was clearly a better hitter than the other guys at the time. It’s just that pretty much everybody was using in that era.

All the juicers really tainted this era, though it was fun to watch. If Griffey was juicing, it definitely was a minimal amount. His natural talent raised him up to their level. Griffey Jr. will never have an asterisk next to his name like all those other guys.
