I have to share the ALMOST ALL PERMANENTS lunatic degeneracy that is my friend’s Codie deck. The only non-permanent spell in the deck is Primal Surge. There are mana rocks, sacrifice outlets, and a LOT of HUGE creatures, at least half of which are 11 or more mana. He ramps up, gets a sac outlet on board (or metalwork colossus in his graveyard which lets him sacrifice Codie to play it), makes the Codie mana, sacrifices Codie, spends 11+ mana on a massive chonk-bonk brute the size of your mother, and triggers the ability given to the mana Codie produced, which leads to exactly one sorcery - Primal Surge. His entire deck hits the field. Maelstrom wanderer and others give everything haste. Avacyn makes it all indestructible. Blightsteel Colossus and the Eldrazi titans say hello before your mind melts from the glistening oil showing you the blind eternities. Craterhoof behemoth makes everything so thick that they made an ad for Viagra. Draco is there. It That Betrays laughs in tongues. Every single doomsday creature card in magic arrives like it’s Avengers Endgame but Thanos decided to snap everything. I would hate it if it wasn’t the single most glorious abomination I’ve ever seen a magic deck create.

So my codiex deck revolved around looting into, and then recurring from the graveyard 'freed from the reel'. (Or a similar enchantment) That way I could infinitely tap codie, cast one spell, and declare a thousand million billion cascade triggers.... The deck was then able to ensure it never ran out of cards, returning things from grave/exile. This might sound annoying (because it was).... But I love the idea of this book just spewing infinite pieces of paper to win a fight.

The most fun I ever had with Codie was when an opponent took control of him without reading the very first line of text on the card and proceeded to lock themselves out of the rest of the game.

Made a silly deck online with Codie based around Dragon's Approach, with the only other two spells in the deck being Tibalt's Trickery and Reshape the Earth. Activate Codie, cast a Dragon's Approach, "cascade" into Trickery countering your own Approach, and hope you dont randomly mill your Reshape the Earth. If you don't, that's the only thing that Trickery can hit because all the other spells in the deck are Dragon's Approach. Get 9 gates and Maze's End out and hope you survive until your next turn to win with Maze's End. It won one game and I've never played it since.

Id like to say “i’m one of the good ones” and point to my mystical archive & basics only codie commander deck, but i’d be lying if I said most games didn’t end with me regrowthing a demonic tutor to recast second sunrise in timewarp turns.

I made 2 codie decks on arena. The first isn't fun to play against since it's just board wipes and a few spells that let me reanimated multiple creatures from an opponent's graveyard, while my win condition is approach the second sun. The second deck is just discard and reanimation for any colored good stuff I want. The first deck is slow enough to give people hope. The second is for removing it

I've currently got a codie deck which sole purpose is to to play the card restore balance. My play group has dubbed it "the equalizer". So far It hasn't technically won any matches, but seeing everyone's green-heavy decks trying to operate at 3 lands will never stop being funny
