Ferguson learned Allred's version really well, then actually sang along to Allred's tract so well it looks like she's lip synching. The director said Ferguson sang her lungs out, and it's obvious watching this video it isn't just lip synching. It helps sell the song so much more. Props to Ferguson to standing up for Allred's version to be used in the film rather than her own recording. She said it served the film better.

This was just a fantastic pairing of Loren Allred's beautiful soaring voice and Rebecca Ferguson's expressive and emotional acting for this performance. I can watch and listen to this over and over and it just brings a smile each time. Perfection!

It's so hard to watch the look on the wifes' face as she realizes her husband is falling for another woman. I have felt that feeling before and it is truly devastating. It can change a person and everything about them, it can ruin them just as easily.

Another thing wierd about the comments here; most are talking about things outside the movie, like who sung it, or random stuff. This scene is probably the most important to the story. It shows all these relationships being torn apart, the spotlight taken away from the misfits that deserve it, and put on this perfect women and this showman. And the song is just perfect for this moment. "All the shines of a thousand spotlights... will never be enough", He's going down a path of fame that will forever leave him hungry for more, and he will forget everything important to him. It's a very well put together scene.

I think she is not in fear of losing her husband, but she is afraid of her husband being too money-oriented and losing his original motive. During the last part of 'Never be enoughhhhh~~~~', the way she looks at the performance and then turns her eyes to his husband's face which is showing numerous adorsement to the woman singing explains this.

Everyone talks about Loren Allred's live performances, and they are amazing. Her voice is phenomenal, but having her voice in this scene, combine with Rebecca Ferguson's movements, expressions, and emotion just brings it to a whole new level.

Actually, most music videos are people lip syncing haha. Most often the track is recorded beforehand and the music video is just the singer lip syncing to their own track. But I guess in this case she wasn't the actual singer!

I usually dislike musicals but this movie carried out really well with the mix of musical aspects that moved the story along well and the culmination of this scene really established this movie and it's actors and music as top notch. Great story, actors, music.

I am mesmerized by the story this scene can tell without using a single word. Efron falling for the girl and making a move, her enjoying it, then his parents’ disgust because of her race, and her seeing that. And Hugh Jackman, falling for the woman singing, and his wife seeing that from the crowd. Incredible.

That little face he makes at the end is precious! Everything about this is amazing!

I literally didn't know she wasn't actually singing, she did a phenomenal job at acting like she's the one who's singing. The emotions on her face brought into tears.

The singing, the performance, the way Barnum looks at her completly mesmerized, the way his wife looks at him completly heartbroken cause she knows he will fall for her talent and mess up, the moment Zendaya realizes why he let go of her hand... Combined with Rebecca Ferguson's presentation, it gives this old man chills and just lifts my spirit every time I watch, which is at least once a day. 😊

Who else is listening in 2024?

Many critics were not enthused about this movie, but the songs are both moving and memorable. "Never Enough" is one of those songs that hits all the right high notes.

Literally got goosebumps every single time I listen to it.

The acting performance in this film was not only phenomenal but will be remembered forever. Again and again I have to listen to the grandiose soulful voice almost every day. Women are easy to take on the crowning glory of soulful tasks. Apart from a few, we men can only sing afterwards. Presently I am platonic in love with the singer.

I'm getting real annoyed at how much credit isn't going to the actual singer. First, Loren recorded the demo which Rebecca heard and then decided that she would not be able to sing the final version because the notes were just too high for her. So they filmed this scene with Rebecca actually singing live. Then Loren went in during ADR and re-recorded the version you hear now meaning she had to CHANGE the way she sings (breath, note duration, intonation). So for everyone giving credit to Rebecca for good lip-syncing know that she did not do any in this movie. The accuracy is all due to the original singer Loren Allred matching Rebecca's filmed version.

I was so scared while watching this scene that Hugh will leave his wife because of this undeniably marvelous talent of an amazingly beautiful woman...looking at the expressions of the characters, I am already in tears...but the movie has a strong hold of what true love really is. :)

Wife actually thinks the same thing PT thinks at that moment but she is afraid that his hunger for acceptance of the upper class will consume him. She realizes in that moment that he can persue that with the help of the singer. This is more apparent later when tabloids publish his supposed "affair" but when PT goes to her to apologize she already know the news are not true but leaves him anyway since his obsession for acceptance indeed endengered their livelihood in the end
