I didn't get to see either play at their peak( I was born in 69) so judging those I did see which included Best and Cruyff, my top three in no particular order are Ronaldo de Lima, Maradona and Messi. Well, all of them are really close to each other. But I would say its a tie between Ronaldo Nazario and George Best. Ronaldo Nazario is the most complete and unpredictable dribbler since he combines skills, pace, close controll and direct dribbling with basics. While George Best ability to glide past players by using a direct dribbling style is amazing. 1- Ronaldo Nazario 2- George Best 3- Messi/Maradona 4- Garrincha 5- Pele 6- Johan Cruyff 7- Ronaldinho

Ronaldo simply the best without a doubt! I use to get up at 5am back in 97 when he got transferred to inter. And I wouldn't do that now for any player. He's my favorite player of all time just a different player.

@@abass_koyang204 You are comparing our defenders with technology, coach assistant, game analysis after every game so they can see in what they can improve etc with defenders that you just give the order of “Stop the striker” and apart from that they didn’t think about nothing else plus THIS FARMER DEFENDERS they had more freedom to KICK or send to the hospital the strikers and the opposite team not like now that there is more protection etc. Pele was basically dancing around killers cause if they wouldn’t get the ball they will probably tried many times to take him down. I just think denying his greatness is Wrong that’s it.

There's one seriously overlooked player in history, that needs to be included here, Mario Kempes. He was like a Zidane from the 70s, tall lanky guy but with the ball skills like very few in those days.

Every time I watch R9, he just seems different than everyone else to me. The speed. The creativity. The execution. The shot power. He was just built different in my opinion. And the scary thing is…he only merely scratched the surface of his potential because of that injury. Truth be told, he never really had a prime.

Sure, the way he moves with the ball is something else. He doesn't dodge with the ball like the other players rather "he challenges the defenders by attacking them with his dribbling"..HE WAS TOO DIFFERENT.

All of them were monsters, but no one ever seemed as unstoppable as Maradona. You can literally see the panic in the opposition whenever he is anywhere near the goal.

thats because the skill level back then among most players wasnt anywhere near what it is today. what messi is doing today is harder, much harder... most players during maradona days were really amateur level compared to today's skill level

All of them are super in many ways but the under rated Ronaldinho just has music and dance to his skills, nobody else has his raw street, compact tight and controlled beautiful style..... it's just enjoyable to see these slow controlled dancing with the ball moves.

I’m Argentinian so, of course, it’ll be Diego first and Lío next, every day of the week. But, Ronaldo was a beast, speed, physical strength, and very effective. Ronaldinho was a beauty to watch, although not as effective as Ronaldo. But it made the whole sport look better.

You included Garrincha, you have my respect. I have to say that although these guys are all pretty much equally excellent dribblers, Maradona seems different. Yeah, its like its in his control even when its not on his foot! Whereas Messi tries too hard I think he dribbles in one way. Maradona is different as u say, he is better than all the others also. Only George Best is close to his dribbling skill and control.

That's because he was natural and hated training he was totally dependent on intuition. He came to play half drunk and snorted drugs all night. A well trained, disciplined Maradona wouldn't have had the same flair he could possibly have scored more goals and assisted more but his "magic" wouldn't be there., atleast that's what I think.

Out and out dribbler, I'd say Maradona, Pele and Messi. Ronaldo had to rely a lot on his speed as well. Plus, Maradona and Messi rarely lost possession of the ball. Maradona was unreal on the ball even better than R9, Messi too is on that level. And what more to say about Pele.

Maradona played in the Italian league where he won everything thanks to drugs and those who use drugs can never have the sympathy of a person like me. He started using it in 1981 and 1990 when he stopped using it he was no longer the footballer that people knew, he could not dribble and his mind was in cocaine abstinence. If you've ever read an article or a book or visited that world then you know it's true. Without drugs he couldn't do even a tenth of what he showed.

Whats even more outrageous is to think that, that probably wasnt even his prime. He was only 21 years old yet making foolery out some of the greatest defenders of all time on a regular basis. Thinking about the heights he could have reached with getting more time for growth and in a balanced team around him is unfathomable, because imo nobody has reached those heights, not even Messi or Maradona

But I still think that in terms of pure ability, neither of the two reached R9 who was only 21. edit : also I havent been able to find anything that suggests he wasnt fully fit in 86. All these guys are amazing and a joy to watch but I think if Ronaldo hadn't had those injuries, he would be the best of all. However, because of his consistency I think Messi is the greatest dribbler

ljuc yes he had his knee split in half pretty much twice and that was pretty much it, he still managed to perform pretty well in brazil but retired shortly after
